  • So many people think they are going to save money by cleaning the dryer vent themselves. Usually their cheap tool from the hardware store breaks in the vent and we end up cleaning it anyway. Plus we have to retrieve the broken tool.

    The reason the rod breaks in the duct is that many people do not set the clutch on the drill to the lowest setting and force the brush through. Also, the drill must be used on the low speed setting.

    😔 I used a one of those brushes a year ago and didn't have a problem. However this year it's currently stuck in the vent 😰

      It helps to duct tape the rods together.

    It would really help to show what the proper tools look like instead. Pneumatic power, but what are they? How are they superior at getting around bends? It's hard to compare methods when I don't know what I'm missing.

      Most professional dryer vent rods and brushes look exactly like what he is holding, but they are much more durable and cost a lot more.
      I still say it’s better to hire a professional that has done it thousands of times and knows what to look for.
      Professionals will also inspect the whole run with a video scan inside the vent from beginning to the end of the vent.

    you have seen dryer ducts with 180º turns... i can see there being 90º.. but 180º? Seems like a waste of ductwork...

      I had one with four 90 degree elbows. Each set was with within 2 feet of the others. Handymen and remodelers do some ridiculous things.

    i find it crazy that it seems like people in my area charge 500$ to clean dryer vent, I have maybe 20 foot straight run out to the side of my townhome. can I simply rent a high power blower or vacum?

      That is pretty high. We are between $149-$199

    Pretty sure my vent is straight vertical to the roof. I'm unsure regarding the screen. House is 3 years old.

    Question: so if you’re a tenant in a house with this idiotic roof vent who is responsible to pay for the cleaning? The landlord or tenant?

    • @planetduct6663
      @planetduct6663  ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends on your lease agreement.
