My Dad abandoned me as a little kid because ‘he can’t stand little children’ despite me completely idolising him. He ignored me every time I begged for his attention or praised him. I continued to idolise him after he left because I was too young to realise that he had actually left us. Years later, he came back when I’m a teenager and more mature. I quickly realise how much of an ass he really was and stopped idolising him. He didn’t like this and accused me of turning against him like my mother did. My mother didn’t start hating him until he forced her to quit her job with the promise that he would support us but instead left her with two kids to raise on her own with no job.
I can’t believe that he’s surprised that we all hate him.

(And the SO/parents if they're still alive, but I suppose the father here is an older person. And even then I think the kids take precedence). Not the friends who only knew him on his good days.

Endeavor is having a redemption arc so there is that, we know that the Firelord loved Azula and he took Zuko back that one time, Asami's dad also had a redemption arc and died for her, Midoriya's dad still probably sends money, Ging talked to Gon that one time, Shang-Chi's dad also died for his kids and left them his organization and some cool rings, Lucious was a monster to other people but we know he loved Draco, Odin died apologizing to most of his kids

He’s still “your father” but never acted or treated you like he was your father….that’s not a father that’s some ninja that skeeted then BOOM you appear. Yes, I still have issues I’m working out about my “father” lol 😂 🤣🤣🤣

I've dreamed of this sort of situation since I was 8. My biodad was abusive and it wasn't until I finally cut him and anyone who even listened to his bullshit that I realized. My life is more full and bright without him invading my thoughts. Poisoning my current mind with thoughts of him.
And I made a promise to myself. If he dies. I won't go to the funeral. But if he is buried. I will spit. Or curse his darned grave to give myself that closure to know one less monster is in the world.
Because I don't need the validation of the family that consorts with a man who is a class 3 sex offender. But I'm up for my mental health getting to close the book on one of my worst personal demons. And idk what happens when we die and maybe hexing a grave makes his afterlife worse?

You get the closure the way you want and don't take crap from nobody. It's okay to be angry, sad, happy, relieved or indifferent. It doesn't make you different. This makes you human.

My friend had a terrible dad (mum ran away when he was 7 bc he abused her in like all ways, and she couldn't divorce him because he would have probably killed her and her plan was that he and his brother were removed by social services, sadly his little brother (5) died due his father's negligence and my friend was removed). He was loved by his grandparents who were foster parents and has a loving family now.
Recently his dad called because he has cancer. He wants to make amends while taking no responsibility for his sins (basically blaming my friend for being small and weak rather than a quarterback). He is also very homophobic and my friend is gay so there's that.
His dad will die soon and probably pull some shit. I'll send him this to prepare his speech.
