    That therapy is white people's s hit me hard. When I went to family with eating disorder I was told that was for white girls instead of getting assistance. In my 40s I'm still dealing (in therapy!). Also that lazy quote "pray on it" sooooo triggering!! I feel you sis!!

      And Endeavor can admit he was wrong. My dad can’t do that shit to save his own life. Like he didn’t took me the er when I sprained my ankle because he made up this mind that I was being dramatic and wouldn’t even consider he could be wrong and wanted me to walk back home. My stepmom who hated me was the one to take me. Same thing when I got stung by a jellyfish and he still won’t accept that I have Asperger on the basis that he doesn’t think I have it and that I shouldn’t put myself in a box (he actually gave me the same don’t label yourself bs when I came out as bi) even though I was professionally diagnosed with it. It’s been 17 years and still adamant I’m not neurodivergent!!! Agh! So yeah Endeavor recognizing he’s flaming trash and trying to fix it and accepting his kids resentment is kinda huge here!

    I was fortunate - my dad broke what could have become a cycle by being there. HIS father, on the other hand, well....
    At my grandfather's funeral (and i use very loose qualifiers when i call it that; the whole thing lasted 25 minutes, total), my dad gave the closest thing there was to a eulogy, and when he did, he made it not about his father, but rather expressing love and support for his father's BROTHER, who made more of an effort to periodically check in on and spend time with him as a kid than his own father ever did, despite my great uncle residing halfway across the entire US, and my grandfather living right there in the same small town. On the surface, Dad said he was honoring his parent, in accordance with the 5th Commandment, but that was still the shadiest goodbye middle finger I ever saw. I was legitimately impressed.

  • @chrisleneil
    @chrisleneil 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    During my dad’s funeral (I was in my early 20s, & my equally horrible mother made me go to be her ‘emotional support’), the preacher started talking about how “The dearly departed was so worried for some in his family who had strayed from the Lord’s path in recent years.”
    My mother suddenly got Hulk strength in her right hand, gripping mine into the pew, and whispering loudly, “He’s talking about your Uncle Hugh!”
    Luckily that was less traumatizing than frankly hilarious, & I had to spend the rest of the service trying to keep my laughter somewhat restrained.
    ‘Cause, sure ma: he’s talking about his eldest brother that never was religious, & not the children he abused who stopped wanting any connection to him or the church (which was complicit in the abuse of a lot of kids.)
    ETA: taking your kids money & invalidating therapy - wow, do bad parents also get a handbook that they follow? Is there a whole section of ‘bad parenting books’ that are sent out to certain families, because that hits too hard.

    Homer Simpson, because he didn't destroy his daughter's self esteem. Even reassured her by contacting all of his relatives to show her the Simpson Gene wouldn't effect her like it did all the boys and men including Bart. He never once tore down her ambitions even if he didn't understand them all. He didn't always put his family first, and there were plenty times he sucked as both a father and a spouse, but they never went without.

    Ooh what about the doctors who experimented on homelander. Even though they taught him to become an absolute psychopath, at least they were kind enough to give him a blanket for comfort. And occasionally peep in on him and play games even if it was from protective barrier. Not to mention they're also somewhat there for him every time he commits another atrocity as they are willing to cover it up for the sake of his sanity and image.
    In fact, homelander is a better father because at least he's willing to take time out of his day to play with his child. Sure. He's teaching his child horrible things but he's made it abundantly clear that he's there for his son, he wants to provide for his son and he would do anything for him. Not to mention he also comforted him when he was having a panic attack.
