I know I’m 5 or 6 months behind, but I’ve watched this video of the split and fix multiple times as I do mine. In fact my tractor is currently still split as I work on it. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this project. I REALLY APPRECIATE it
Thank you for putting so much time into documenting your restoration of this build. Some one some where (like me) is going to be tackling this very same job and seeing the way you accomplished this repair is valuable beyond belief... seeing how you fabricated and attached the trans housing cradle support to aide in working on your tractor is a great idea and bears imitating for me and others to make this job go smoothly...
Great info, I got a 1250 and I was wondering where to start with my investigation. There is no clutch working on the PTO and the pedal for the engine side is very close to the top of the pedal so I suspect I will be doing some replacing TBD. There are not very many videos out there for those of us with little experience on servicing a tractor so thanks.
I also noticed very little on TH-cam about these smaller Olivers which is exactly why I decided to do my entire restoration on TH-cam. I do it so that others get some confidence to do the job themselves. Thanks for watching!
Korves Oliver, Oliver Parts.com, Yesterday's Tractor and Steiner tractor. These are some of the vendors I used. I cannot remember specifically where I got the PTO parts but I think it was Korves and Steiner.
Yes if I understand you correctly then it is likely leaking from the rear main seal. I show the replacement of a rear main seal on a Super 55 which is very similar to your 550. You might consider watching that video. Here is link to that video: th-cam.com/video/8BiIxUAop2A/w-d-xo.html
I see, it is likely needing the PTO seal kit from Korves to take care of the bad seal. Their seal kit includes everything except the brake cross shaft seal which you can buy separately.

Thanks so much! That definitely makes it worth the effort! I am nearly done with the 550 now....nearly.

Reading your appreciation for the videos makes it all worth doing! So glad it can be of help.
This is great, I have a 58" 550 split right now due to a PTO clutch failure! PTO plate is also getting done while I have access. Big Thanks.
Great! I hope this will make things go just a bit smoother!
Nice content! I'm glad I found these videos.
Thanks Sam!
It’s coming along nicely!
Thanks Bri!

@@shopdoc thanks for the quick response.
The leak is not engine oil, it’s hydraulic oil.
