This song is extremely important to fans, it’s the first song Gregg Allman wrote after his brother Duane died. It’s dedicated to Duane and inspired the band to continue doing what they do best ✨
Tedeschi Trucks Band cover this quite often in concert being close to the Allmans.
After Duane died, the band and crew tried to decide if they should continue. In their words, they had no choice as they would have gone nuts just sitting around, and they also knew Duane would have wanted them to continue.

The Allman Brothers were very Blues oriented and they were great at it. Many see them as Southern Rock, but to me, they were Southern Blues more than Rock. Skynyrd is my favorite Southern Rock band because they could do it all, but the Allman Brothers were something special too!
The Allman Brothers also had country music oriented songs too, such as "Blue Sky" and "Rambling Man," and ballads like "Jessica" and "Mellisa." They were more than just blues.
