any issues with your car since you got it? I hear electrical glitches are common. Also are you leasing or you purchased it? I'm debating on new F-pace , coming out of BMW X5 - owned from new since 2008. I'm just tired of putting in $$$ into it. (already spent close to 5K in last year...)
Hey Roman, if the Jag has a 90% bias of power to the rear wheels that means that 10% of the power is sent to the front wheels meaning that it's AWD all the time (maybe just not as AWD as you like it to be). Just like the Audi's that you say you prefer, but remember that Audi has a 40/60 split so even that is not what you call AWD
You're right Roman, It's not fair to Jaguar. Depreciation? As an ex-BMW owner, Jaguar in the past 5 years has had a lower depreciation rate than BMW (Unsure of Audi and Benz but probably a similar story). In Texas, a 2011 750i with 30K miles costs under $45,000. You would be lucky to find a similarly matched XJ for under $50,000. Even worse is that is that you can find a barely used 2014 750i with under 3k miles for between $20,000-$25,000 off MSRP, while the similar XJ has only lost $9,000 to depreciation off the MSRP. However, the rest of the review was well done!
Thanks for the comment but this sounds like personal experience. Just and FYI for you. Bankrate rated the 2013 Jaguar XJ AWD as one of the top 6 cars in American with the highest depreciation. www.bankrate.com/finance/auto/car-depreciation-models-lose-value-6.aspx
Hey guys, have you considered just using 4K on low action videos like this one, and switching over to 1080p60 on your faster motion videos? I feel that might be more beneficial. Thoughts?
The base models yes, not the more exclusive/collectible ones, depreciation is on par with every luxury car in this segment in accordance with price. But yeah, any Used high-end luxury car, especially those over a 100k, like these will depreciate with a few outliers which hold their value very well or stay the same like the G wagon/GT3/SLS/ F type project 7 etc. Question then is can you afford to maintain the car, not so much price of maintenance, sure you can buy a 2015 S550 for the price of a new C class, but can you afford to maintain the car is the question
@@packroyliao7561 Like I said Packroy, the base models with high mileage, that haven't been maintained, not proper ones, or top of the lines ones LOL, you'll get ones that haven't been serviced, that have issues the owner can probably no longer afford, or ones that have been in accidents/or that have other issues, even if it's not on the car fax.

I love that Jaguar makes almost all of their grilles actually functional. Nothing looks worse on a luxury brand than plastic consuming the maw. I know the cars are in unrelated classes but the SL class Mercedes has gotten embarrassing to drive in the daylight because of the amount of fake grille.
This might just be the best bang for your buck on the used market out there. There's a 2011 5.0 N/A with 50,000 miles on it at a carmax close to me for only $23k which is simply amazing. Pony up an extra couple grand for a 5 year warranty, and you can drive that baby another 75,000 worry free miles. For well under 30K all in including taxes, this is, in my opinion, the most incredible value yet. If I was going to be staying here for that long, I would probably buy it.
THIS! this car is a bargain. In 2019 im looking at a 2012 5.0 for about 21k Canadian. Reliability has gone way up and you canot beat the look of that car.Best kept secret in the used market.
A friend of mine has just bought a new Toyota Rav,4, from what he told me it has a similar AWD drive setup to this Jag; my older 3L Jag has a constant AWD 60% rear and 40% front system, and my son takes it often to the French Alps, he says nothing stops it in heavily snowed roads. BTW my Jag has never been unreliable, can't say however the same for our Mazda RX8
Roman, many of the "All-Wheel-Drive-All-The-Time" cars you are referring to are also capable of transferring 90% of the power to wherever it is needed most especially in snowy weather. If you feel there are problems with Jaguar's distribution of power, then the design itself is to blame. It should be so seamless that you don't even notice it. Maybe it's something Jaguar engineers need to work on.
Hello Fast Lane, My name is Alfred. I am a big fan of your TH-cam channel. I watch it all the time for reviews on different vehicles. I am currently looking to purchase a vehicle but I have 2 vehicle that I am interested in. 2016 Audi A8L 4.0 V8 vs 2016 Jaguar XJL Portfolio AWD V6. I have driven both cars and I am leaning more (just a little) towards the Audi A8L because the drive and the luxurious roomy interior. I love the Jaguar because of the exterior, no other car looks like it on the road, I like the interior as well, the drive is a balance of luxury and performance. I saw your reviews on both cars, I am not sure if you did a review of the 2016 Audi A8L or 2016 Jaguar XJL Portfolio AWD V6. Base on your experience in car reviews and familiarity with both vehicles, which car would you choose between the two? Thanks for your assistance
I recently purchased a 2011 XJL Supersport. If you're seriously considering purchasing an XJ, I highly recommend either going for a CPO 2011 car (in 2011 Jaguar included free maintenance to 50,000 miles on the XJ - something that is transferable if the car is certified, and something they only did in 2011) because of the bumper to bumper warranty up to 100,000 miles - or going through carmax and purchasing through them (if you can find an XJ). Buying any luxury vehicle known for having reliability issues, or being expensive to repair (eg BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar, Porsche) through carmax is great simply because you can buy a warranty for up to 150,000 miles for ridiculously cheap - usually much less expensive than a similar warranty offered by a dealer assuming the car isn't certified. I love my car, and the knowledge that if anything goes wrong it's not going to be on my dime to fix, really completes the entire idea of having something for luxury.
Depreciation is false when you take into account abseils price, my XJ Ultimate (bought it new for a 170k) can easily get 85K Cad after 6 years of ownership, more than I can say for a 2013 S63 or A8L W12, base model XJL's do depreciate like other luxury cars, but as much as their competitors, it's best to do your homework before making statements of the sort. By the end of the year, I've saved just as much if not more on the Maybach, Astons, AMG's I've bought new...
Seems TFL Car shot that depreciation theory down pretty quick. Nice try though... Nice Jag & I actually like the snark of the 6 over the 8 but... I'll stick to my 750Li XDrive.
Why not do what I've done, buy a used example? Sorry, you guys can't get the diesel version as we can in the UK. We're unable to get the 4x4 version either, put a private number plate on the car and no one knows if you're driving a 7-year-old or a brand new vehicle. 7-year-old editions are going for around £12-£15K. 0-60 in 6 secs in a quiet, sexy exclusive, luxurious, reliable, diesel with a 700-mile driving range, what's not to like?
MrKeyboardCommando It doesn't go for cars and trucks with high resale. Some cars and trucks are worth nearly the same even after 2-3 years of age. I sold my last 2 YO Chevy diesel (in excellent condition) for nearly what I paid for it new. High residual value gives you a lot freedom as an owner.
BTW, a secondhand car with rapid depreciation isn't going to stop depreciating for its second owner. How well a car holds it's value is still important for used car buyers.
