I don't want to be the one to say it but... Charles actually voiced to Mario before Super Mario 64... his first appearance as Mario's voice was back in 1994's "Mario Teaches typing"

To this day, Super Mario 64 DS is still one of my all time favorite video games.

Since this is a tribute to Charles, I'd like to tell of the time I emailed Mr. Martinet during these DS days. I was like 10 and wanted to do voice acting, So I wrote Mr. Martinet about one day replacing him as Mario, not realizing how rude that was, but he wrote back and gave me some encouragement. Makes me wish I had started building a portfolio.
