It’s a great modern interpretation of Mario’s classic sound. Catchy, energetic, only a little moody in the more ominous stages, but tons of fun overall. Galaxy’s ost is amazing, but this felt like pure Mario joy from beginning to end

They captured the grand symphony aspect of galaxy, the jazziness of mk8, and mixed it with traditional mario beats and it rocks, sometimes literally
mk8 took the jazziness from this btw, it came out 6 months later than 3d world
This is game where Bowser's musical identity is the most consistent throughout. Usually he is only represented with the airship theme in the 3D games followed by a unique castle and/or boss theme, but nothing consistent. In this game, straight from the opening cutscene, we are introduced to his motif that gets reiterated each time he shows up in the game in unique ways, culminating in the World Bowser theme. It makes this game's Bowser feel like he is in a movie

I never realized how much unique music this game has. It's even less excusable that the "New" games recycle so many tunes.
This game was odyssey before odyssey existed but it's much easier to just go with the flow and call it a "by the numbers" new super mario bros type game than to actually play it and see how unique it is to all the other games.

This brings me back. When I was a kid, our Wii stopped working or something, so one day my parents just came home with a Wii U, and would you take a guess at what game came with it: Super Mario 3D World. I know that the Wii U wasn’t exactly the best selling console that Nintendo made, but it really holds a place in my heart as it brought me a lot of joy when I was younger. I would play this with my siblings a whole bunch and I feel like I just never got tired of it. I even still occasionally play it to this day, though I haven’t played it often recently. Along with many other Wii U games (such as Nintendo Land, I loved that game), this game holds so much joy and so many memories with it for me. It was such a good game to showcase the Wii U’s abilities, since it felt like a Mario game, but at the same time had those features that showed the use of the Wii U Gamepad. I should probably shut up at this point since I’m guessing I’ve been typing for like 10 minutes straight, but anyways, if you somehow were able to endure this long message and didn’t just go “I ain’t reading allat” then thanks, but basically I just want to say that this is such an amazing game with so much of my childhood held in it.

The OST is one of many reasons why this game is the best Mario game imo. OST is easily the best in the series, the levels are all fantastic, most Mario games have levels that aren't good, most if not all here are amazing, the movement is smooth and fun to master, collected green stars and stamps are great, Bowser fights are fun and amazing, game has fun power ups that all have uses, and the multiplayer brings it all together, its fun to either beat the game with friends, or compete with friends for the crown. Sure the game is more linear than others, but its honestly better that way with exploration not being the only main thing.
I love how much life the music in this game has. It's so dynamic and fun! I'm glad it's getting attention! All of it slaps, like, I swear, some of these songs are engrained in my brain. I'm happy to have played this on the Wii U when it came out, it was a really great experience.
Plus, listen to that bass at 9:03 it's so simple but playful, UGH, SO GOOD
16:43 makes me nostalgic. I remember I used to get frustrated trying to get it right so I searched up how to do it and there was a neat lil' trick where you jumped on the beat essentially. Hard to explain through text but it worked every time. Seeing all the coins raining down always felt good.
The fact that I can remember most of these songs down to almost every note is a testament to the soundtrack. Even after it's been years since I've listened to many of these, I still remember them a lot.
