It's not a controller, it's just a power regulator. You can buy one at any electrical appliance store in your city. Such regulators are used to adjust (reduce) the power of the fireplace, soldering iron and other heating device. Exactly these are in electric drills. This is a primitive circuit, it just cuts a sine wave from the network. Those. the speed is reduced simply due to a decrease in the current on the collector motor. When a load is applied to the engine, the speed will drop, this regulator controls absolutely nothing. A real controller of a collector motor has a RPM sensor, which is installed near the rotor shaft and, under load, maintains a constant RPM regardless of the load and the engine always runs at its full power. The shaft must have a magnet or a light reflector, depending on the type of sensor. These are expensive electronics with a specialized chip and sensor. Such controllers are sold too, chips are also sold separately. For asynchronous motors, another method is used - a frequency inverter, because its RPM depends on the network frequency (50/60 Hz). This inverter supplies different frequencies to the induction motor - from a few hertz to hundreds of hertz. Thus, the RPM is not controlled, but the engine delivers its full power at any RPM. Frequency inverters are also sold.
@Landscape Design Garden Design for Small Gardens I've used succesfully the 10.000W regulator with the 50A diode rectifier for my 180V DC treadmill.. there's a light decrease in power when on load but i compensate rising the pot and I'm fine
Hello! my name is Florin and I am writing to you from Romania, I also have a 180v engine similar to yours and I don't know how to start it because it only works on 180 volts, can you explain to me what parts to buy to be able to start it in function? Thank you in advance!
Cheapest route would probably be to purchase a boost/ buck converter (it's where you can use say a 24 volt or 36v 48v battery etc. And adjust the output voltage to higher than what you have plugged in. Depending on what your using it for they have a cheap priced one that you can use 36 volts on it and adjust out put voltage up to high 300s volt. Just by turning the "knob" (potentiometer to the clockwise rotation) the more you turn it the higher the voltage. You can use a volt meter to see exactly what voltage your at. Just research it and stay safe!

Hello, I have a single-phase motor 150 watts, 2950 RPM, 1.5 Amps 220V. I'm looking to control its speed and I've come across several speed control devices online. However, as I'm not an expert in electrical engineering, I'm having trouble determining the suitable device to achieve a speed range of 0 to 300 RPM and an operating duration of up to half an hour. I would appreciate your guidance in finding the appropriate and cost-effective solution. Thank you.

Hola estoy usando el mismo regulador del vídeo, el mismo puente rectificador pero no logro obtener los 170v que necesito para mí motor. Que podría ser? Gracias
*Why are you using an SCR controller to run a DC motor?* 1. Inefficient because part of the sinewave is clipped in order to reduce the output; 2. Reduced sinewave means less power output at lower speeds; 3. SCR Controller should not be used as a DC motor speed control if you want power at lower speeds; and 4. Better to use a PWM DC controller to maximize efficiency and power output at any speed.
@@davidme9698 The same way this motor was used in a treadmill. AC goes in and converts the AC to DC and controls the speed of the motor via PWM. BTW: Treadmill motors are DC motors.
@@davidme9698 I have no idea what you are referring to. Treadmills do not run on a battery. The motor in the video is from a treadmill. If he kept the original treadmill speed controller, that would have worked better as it is PWM.
@@valveman12 I understand that but I don’t have a treadmill control, I want to make one. Like the video is showing but when I heard your concern of a scr not working but a pwm would. I checked into it in Amazon and eBay. Every pwm control is a speed control for a dc input to a dc output. Unless we can connect the 120 ac to the input and it works. Also Out of at least eight other videos doing the same thing all use a scr.

That motor will burn out after a bit of use, that humming even at low speed is not a good sign
Why are all treadmill motors DC, can't they be replaced by AC..?
Skema sirkuitnya bisakah digambarkan...
i already done. something like that but motor has so many vibration at treadmill. Hot diode. Cable. High ampere.
Also using a rectifier bumps up the voltage of the A/C converted to DC. So if you have 120v ac you will get roughly 160V DC
