I hate it here and I’m desperately trying to move. While I was saving up, some bastard decided to steal my car from my gated community, and now I have to pay. This is one of several crimes that I’ve been the victim of. With that being said, this place is horrible for law abiding citizens and literally a paradise for criminals. They know that the gun laws are bad here, so no one can really protect themselves. It’s no secret that it’s hard to get a CCW out here. To be fair a lot of veterans have way too much sense of entitlement. Yeah you "served your country", but did nothing to further American rights. I'd say when we started fighting battled overseas instead of our own was a sign of decline. Everyone is brave enough to go kill people overseas but not brave enough to stand up to the tyrants in our own country. YOUR bosses.
I respect vets of course, I just wish the society as a whole wasn't so far gone. Serving doesn't mean what it should. The oath to uphold the constitution is meaningless as literally no one does. At this point the only way to defend the constitution is with force.

1st off I thank you profusely for your service. I wanted to serve but couldn’t because of medical concerns. DO NOT pay any mind to those who say you have a sense of entitlement. I’ve known many veterans who have served and now work regular jobs and ask for little or nothing. While reconnecting with some high school friends I had the pleasure of meeting a combat disabled veteran (a captain) who served in the Middle East. After speaking with him and getting to know him for two days all of us as a group went out to lunch after church. The good Captain stopped me outside of the restaurant and said “I’d like to give you something.” It turned out the object was a challenge coin. He then told me “I only give this to members of my military family.“ I then replied “Well Captain I’m not worthy of this, I’m not military.“ he then said to me (and I’ll never forget this) “Please take it. You sir, have a heart of a soldier.“ I was almost overcome with emotion but I accepted it graciously. For a civilian to receive a challenge coin from an army officer is truly a high honor.

Not to say that gangs are paragons of virtue, but at least they implement some sort of code on the streets. They impose a form of order, criminal and violent as it may be at times. But at least they were somewhat predictable. The fact that the old school gangs can't figure out where the violence is coming from, and can't keep a lid on it, is pretty crazy. The new breed of criminals is shaping up to be terrifying.

IMPORTANT !!! IF POSSIBLE GIVE WRITTEN STATEMENT SO YOU HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO THINK THINGS THROUGH AND CANNOT BE TRICKED INTO GIVING A STATEMENT IF YOU ARE A LITTLE CONFUSED, HENCE BEING SUSPECTED OR ACCUSED OF LYING !!! I realize that I'd be taking my life in my hands if I wanted to do that now, which is sad. but I also used to drive up the central coast a lot. Up by Avila and Morro Bay and shoot the sights up there. Perhaps those areas are still somewhat safe. Still, right now I feel more inclined to just stay away until sanity re-emerges . . . if ever.

Still have a sort of fondness for the place, tho. My best friend lives in B Town and when I finally make it back out there, I reckon I'll be spending much of my time with him and his family. Politicians aren't pushing for gun control because they truly believe guns are dangerous. The push is all about control, we've heard for the last decade plus about how the US should adopt gun laws like Australia. Now they're throwing people in "volunteer" camps and arresting them if they try to leave. We have to move passed the idea that politicians are dumb, they may say something dumb to tap into the emotions of the ignorant, but their end goal is control.

We just started seeing a lot of homelessness and crime this year. I moved here to get away from the crime. Good thing most folks in this town are armed.
