One time at work on the loading dock a tow motor was taking a pallet of stuff out of a trucks trailer and it had a nail sticking out of the side that rubbed against the metal sides of the trailer as it was being taken out, a co worker and I who are the same age 60 years old , we laughed saying how it sounded like Gamera, a couple of young guys asked what was so funny, we said it sounded like Gamera, they had a puzzled look, Gamera! What's that? Then you realize how old you are.
Is there anywhere I can look up the anatomy of Gamera? That stab went through a chunk of his body, and looks highly unlikely to have missed any and all major internal organs and blood vessels.
They are a lot of fun! I remember I went to blockbuster in preschool and they didn’t have any Godzilla movies so my dad told me we could rent Gamera because he’s like Godzilla but he’s a turtle. lol
This is where Daiei started to take a wrong turn with the Gamera franchise gearing the films more toward children. Toho tried the same thing a year earlier with Son of Godzilla which also did not do well at the box office. Toho learned, but Daiei did not. Virus was one of the better monster designs in the franchise. It would have been interesting if the Gamera franchise combined Gamera vs Virus & Gamera vs Guiron to do something in the tone of the Invasion of the Astro Monster which was a major Toho success. Unfortunately, Daiei would end up walking the path toward bankruptcy.
This version of Viras is nothing compared to the Rebirth version cause it has more powers like electro tentacles and a beam attack from the spear like head when it opens

Back when I was a kid, I couldn't appreciate how unique Viras' method of transforming into a giant monster really was.
