Ambrosia without David Pack is like Journey without Steve Perry. Both voices are one of a kind and irreplaceable.

Great band . Worship their 1st album and "Somewhere I never Travelled". It would be great if David Pack rejoined the other original 3 members and toured doing their old stuff.

I was not familiar with Ambrosia when I was riding in a van with friends and I heard How much I feel. It caught me by surprise. I was absolutely speechless. Still to this day one of my favorite songs

So I read that David Pack needed a break from touring to be with his young family and the band was not in agreement. David took the time to be with his family and a member of the band decided to register & trade mark the band’s name “Ambrosia” and David was cut out. They were playing with the advertising of David being with the band when he took that break and when David found out about it and asked for his share of the cut the band said NO so he took them to court and they settled with David for an undisclosed amount of money. David really should have trade marked the name from the beginning which would have prevented the turn of events from happening. I have always loved the band along with David’s amazing voice, writing & producing abilities. You can’t deny that they were great and the harmonies were stellar. They all came together at the right time to create great prog rock and pop rock music.

"Holding on to Yesterday". This song is the perfect example of everything that was fantastic in the 1970s small rock band. Incredible use of instruments in the orchestration, organ stabs, Epiano loveliness blending into the lead guitar. And then vocals, lead and harmonies, absolutely gorgeous. Drums and analog tape fought each other, so muffled drums are all we got (technology woes). I bought this album and still to this day gives me chills. Thank you, Ambrosia, for showing the world what is possible when passion and talent love each other.

If you ever want to see the difference between pop music today, and 70s pop music, "Dancing By Myself" is like, a _perfect_ example, didn't get any airplay, and yet, it's one of the most well crafted tunes on Life Beyond L.A. imo, or at least, since music's a pretty subjective experience, I'll just say, it's _my_ personal favorite. Bought that _first_ album in 1975, and I'm still not sick of it, always loved this band...

Michael McDonald was never in Ambrosia. He sat in with them for a couple of charity benefits and he recorded on Packs solo albums. I'm sure that if he did join them things would have turned out very differently.

Their first two albums are jaw-dropping amazing. Listen on the best sound system or great earphones. After those two, the other albums were more commercial and fine but not as magical. The original line-up has it all. Both albums in my all time top 25 lps. Heavenly background singing , super pro musicians, each one. Great lyrics, unique wonderful songs. Very few rock bands of this caliber. Hold on ... these are very special albums!

I agree that David was a major part of the group, but 3 of the members are still touring as Ambrosia. 3/4 of the band with others (which the "original" Ambrosia also did). David is still making some great music in the "Christian" world (though highly accessible to the non-believers as well). I think you just have to accept that one member has left the group. They are both great at what they do. It's not like say someone like YES which has NO original members!

Love Ambrosia, saw them live finally last year. It’s a shame some people only know them for ballads and yacht rock. One of my favorite albums is Road Island, and the similarities to Pink Floyd The Wall: 1. Recorded at same studio, both produced by James Guthrie, artwork style very similar with Ralph Steadman for Ambrosia and Gerald Scarfe for Floyd, both a bit similar with Pink and then the singular musician on the cover of Ambrosia on the road…and lastly the opening song on both are similar….told you I liked the album😀

I think to the casual fan, yes. But their sound evolved over the years from progressive to pop rock to yacht rock to hard rock. They just get labeled as yacht rock because their biggest hits were the softer songs. It's kind of like Player. They get pegged as yacht rock because of Baby Come Back, but if you listen to their albums, their music was actually a lot harder. Both bands super talented and versatile. They both should have gotten a lot more credit than they did ❤❤❤
