I'm from Myanmar & live in Ygn. I've also visited every province in MM. Then I decided to visit every town & that's taken many years. Eventually, I was about 90% complete when the ongoing war in MM started last year. So for now, I'll do Thailand instead.

The route 1148 is one of the best in Northern Thailand! Loved it
In the past this area was heavy red zone of war.
I do have to say the roads were perfect. And it looked like the road markings were freshly painted. The scenery, you couldn't beat it! Absolutely gorgeous!! Thanks so much for taking us along.

Paddy, I am going through the same with my weight. I have started lifting weights 20-40 minutes a day , stopped eating past 6/7 pm and it has made SUCH a huge difference. I’m losing faster than when I was doing cardio 5 days a week.
I know we all have different bodies and different routines but just thought I would share.
I think you look great either way but understand the feeling of not feeling like yourself physically and wanting to be the best version of yourself ❤

I also can fully agree to the almost perfect road conditions in Thailand. I live in Laos and it is a drag and exhausting riding the roads there. Even the main roads are completly run down. In the face of beautiful nature one have to pay full attention to the road condition only almost all of the time. Everytime I cross the border I could literally kiss the ground like the pope used to do ;) for such magnicifant roads and the joy to ride them. However I wish that you find a way crossing the border into Laos with Zelda. Then...welcome to Xayabouly, Oliver

A good idea for a workout if the hotel hasn't got a gym is to run up the stairs of the hotel to the top floor get the lift down and repeat. They are a killer workout
Great Video Paddy! Smash them 10,000steps. Even 5x20 pushups in hotel throughout the day/evening works wonders if do it every day.

I love your vlogs Paddy and i love you and how much you reveal about your personal struggles. Its so good seeing a little bit of the real you. And massive kudos for sharing your weight gain story. Believe me I know about being fat! I spent most of my life at twice the weight I am now. So yeah, I lost half my weight over a four year period and I've kept it off for almost 20 years. I'm 71 now, super fit and healthy in mind body and spirit. One of the things i did to lose weight and keep it off was slowly eliminate certain foods from my diet. I had tried to lose weight so many times before, tried everything. But I never looked at the long game and the weight would alsways come back plus more! But the last time was different. I knew I needed to make some serious changes. Long lasting lifestyle changes. So i started eliminating things, knowing I was never going to be eating certain foods ever again. Bread, pasta and dairy was some of the first things to go... not all at once, just slowly!! And I've carried on eliminating ever since. I eat a really simple diet now and ive discovered the more simple i keep things the better it is to stay on track.
Anyway blah blah blah... what I really want to say is exercise is all well and good, and I do heaps of it, walking, cycling, resistance training and yoga. But what really counts is what you put in your mouth. And what i see you still eating isnt good!! and you know it isnt. Thai food is delicious and i love it but they use heaps of sugar and bad oils. Theres no getting around that for you becasue its hard eating really clean in rural Thaialnd. But making things worse by eating deep friied food in batter and then using dips as well.... No!! Stop it!! Come on dude! you know its true!! And you dont need lunch.... do you?? Especially when as you say, youre just sitting on your bike all day. Two meals a day is plenty! Come on, you told us about this so now you have to be accountable to your subscribers. Well, no you dont have to....but some of us really care about you!! We want you to be your best self and feeling sexy and gorgeous!

Great video Paddy. Dont worry too much about the flooded road warnings. Im in Udon and travel all over the place up here including nong bua, nong khai etc. Yet to see a rural road impassable. Good luck.

When I saw the preview at the start of the video it showed the white temple and I was so happy I would finally get to see you visit there as I have watched just about all your videos from the start and not ever seen you visit there. Was so disappointed to see again you didn't visit there😭
I watch a number of TH-cam videos and yours and Kristen Hansen in Indonesia are my favourites. The camera work is excellent, nice steady shots and a good eye for the best scenery. Lots of the other TH-cam videos are wobbly cameras and garbled audio. We’ll done, I can see the work you put in and it’s appreciated 👍
Nan and Phayao are often overlooked by travelers. After the rainy season is the perfect time to travel.

we already had that with the wipe over during your tour through all provinces. So I know your favorite drinks. Of course, beer is not a diet drink, but juices, soft drinks and shakes are usually the culprits. A bottle of Coca Cola (0.3L) has just as many calories as a reasonable Thai meal, in most cases even more. I've been coming to Thailand regularly since 1985 and I've lost around 10 kilos in body weight in 8 weeks. My secret: still water, Thai food, and no bread. Good luck again ;-) of course in the evening a few thai whiskey with soda water ...haha

Paddy, I've recently begun watching your videos in anticipation of my own big adventures through SEA. I am arriving in Bangkok on Oct.25th! Very excited and I thank you for the informative videos. My suggestion to you to stay fit while out and about, is another youtube channel named Fitness Blender. They have tons of videos, all different HIIT workouts, most don't require any equipment! I do them at home and I plan to continue doing one in particular (Brutal HIIT ladder workout) while I'm overseas. Also push-ups every morning!

Thinking about your 5K runs. I started the same thing because I travel so much, I've been doing 5K runs 6 to 5 times a week since August. Still, as you're doing, you have to cut back on carbs too, unfortunately. but I was able to run in the Netherlands, Spain, Australia, and Thailand (humid!) since I began. today my fastest yet here in Florence. The cool quote from BoJack Horseman: “Every day it gets a little easier… But you gotta do it every day - that's the hard part. But it does get easier.” Keep at it, Paddy!

I agree in the most part with regards the roads in Northern Thailand, I recently (april 2022) did the MHS loop out of Chang Mai and some sections of the road were fantastic to ride on. Anyone riding or driving on the mountainous roads needs to be aware of the wildlife that will share the roads with you. Chickens, cats, dogs, some sort of local squirrel, cows, Buffalo, elephants and Monks. Something to be aware of is roadworks, unlike here in Australia, there is very little warning of the road being torn up so be careful. Another thing to expect is a 14 year old on a souped up scooter wearing shorts and a grin fly past you on the outside of a hairpin bend like you are standing still. At least they give you a wave as they go by.

Resistance bands are great. I have just discovered them myself. There are apps with workouts you can do with minimal equipment and TH-cam workout videos that are worth giving a go.

I rode around Northern Thailand back in July and like you Paddy I was amazed at how good the road conditions are. I live in Qld Australia and our roads are terrible in comparison. Also, I think the road that the Magic Mountain Cafe is on is called the 1148 and is considered by motorcycle enthusiasts to be one of the top 10 roads in the world. Love your Vlogs, ride safe and enjoy.
