    This is the best tutorial ever. I've watched SO many and they don't explain the extension or weights. I went from the standard weights they provide (2 large ones, 4 smaller ones) to absolutely none (no fasteners either). It's insanely smooth now. Thanks so much!

  • @MissouriOzarksMusicandVideo
    @MissouriOzarksMusicandVideo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Yes, this is definitely the BEST tutorial on a stabilizer. I had mine set with ALL the weights and a really light Sony camcorder. Now it's seriously light weight and the side drop is much slower and the camera doesn't swivel around like the bobble head doggy in the back window of a car. We thank you very much and we shall subscribe to your channel! Thank you!

    Your intentions are very good and you are trying to help others which is very honourable. But there are a few things that are wrong. The quick release plate is not meant to slide in as there is a metal brake that is there precisely to prevent it from sliding off. Instead the quick release plate goes in from top to bottom like when you insert a tripod plate into a tripod head.
    Secondly, if you place the camera near the rear of the quick release plate it wont stick out so much and block your left/right adjustment knob. Then you wont have to turn it around the wrong way facing the front like you did, and you can keep the left/right adjustment knob facing you.
    Finally, the proper way to balance a stabilizer is to do the drop test first, and then make the camera position adjustments instead of doing the other way around like you did. Also the drop test is from horizontal to vertical (90°) and not from horizontal to horizontal as you are doing.
    Last tips: the handle is held to the side of the rod and not behind it, and doing it outside may be a little more difficult as even the slightest wind breeze will throw the balance off.

    see, the first part you have to adjust is find the center gravity between the camera and the quick releasing plate with the help of a rod in a flat surface and than fix the quick releasing plate exactly where the center portion is approximately. than the second part to adjust is the stemp (Rod) with the help of counter weight and adjusting the rod from in and out. than the last part is to adjust is the camera towards front and back or left to right vice versa. this is the procedure to adjust the glide cam my dear mam.if it is helpful comment here.

      I just received my NEEWER Stabilizer from AMAZON yesterday, Thanks to this video I was able to get it basically set up in about 30 mins, before running off to work. When I got off work , that night, I changed from the Nikon 70-300 mm lens to the Nikon 18-55 mm lens on my Nikon D5300 and had to reset but found it to be fairly quick to reset. I then did some videos inside to see how it works and I was surprised to see how stable the shots were even though I know I really have to practice to get it to be a lot smoother. This video had me up and going so easily. Thanks so much.

      It's pretty similar effect either you buy 500€ gimbal or glidecam. It's just all about who uses it and what effect author want more to prefer. Glidecam gives more natural footage, while gimbal gives more robotics - that's difference.. Gimbal is easier to use as well - at least on beginning.

    this is very frustrating, with the canon m50 its so light that the weights at the bottom are too heavy with the pole being at the shortest it can be. removing the weights make it too light! very frustrating

    I love you but there is a much easier way to balance a stabilizer. 1) First find the camera's center of gravity. To do this place the center of the quick release on a pencil so it balances like a teeter-totter. Install the camera and move it back and forth till it also balances. Tighten the screw and mark that point. Install it on the unit so that it aligns with the shaft of the stabilizer. This will reduce the amount of the final adjustment required. 2) Adjust the shaft length and weights until the shaft remains steady in the horizontal position all by itself during the drop test. Lengthen the shaft length by 1.5-2.0 cm (shorten for low shots). This will give you a near perfect drop time without fumbling around. Once you have done this a few times you can balance your unit in under 2 min.
