by a 1/2 beat.this goes for everyone.Scott says in this video that what you play on the right also play on the left. I truely wish my instructor back in the 60's had pushed that on us .I mean if the measure end with a right the a 1/2 note rest then something fancy on the left ,well my hand still has to think about it.
Scott, many years ago when I first started to play I played everything off the right hand and nowmany years later I still have a hard time starting with the left.Sometimes I have to use a pick-up note but then I do away with it and everything is fine. this is a great exercise and I play it often.I don't play for anyone anymore I just love to play the marching drum. its funny because if the meas.:repeats on the opposite hand I have no prob but don't ask me to start with the left ILL be behind .
some drumlines think flams played like double stops would make the line seem cleaner than them being a little open like a proper flam, but some people dissagree because there are so many people in the line that it'll still sound a little dirty... at least that's what i've been told
@geoff1424 Maybe you should've watched his intro video where he discusses the series and what its objective is. He specifically says that this is for ADVANCED PLAYERS, and that it's NOT THE BASICS. If you can't play your rudiments and rhythms perfectly and with great technique, then you don't need to dive into any of the advanced aspects because you'll teach yourself bad habits and ultimately ruin your possibilities as a percussionist. Clearly you fit in that category.
Funny how he is using vic firth sticks in a video put out by promark...... Huh

haha "Promark, proud sponsor of the blue devils". Scojo used vic firths in the video hahaha
They don't make it anymore. They only make the new one. It has a laminate, metronome, and snare sound. I have it and it's worth getting.

are marching style flams suppose to be flat like a double stop?
does xymox still make the snare pad like he's playing in this video? i didn't see one on their website
I would advise not to. It would be removed from youtube immediately.
Anyone know what is the brand and name of that thing he's practicing on? I need one!!!
I know I'm gunna get yelled at for sayin' this(I mean it's Scott Johnson)but I was told that on all flam patterns the gracies should be down at 1".
You know... I want to know that, too...
Scojo's Lord Of The Wings?????
