    This seemed impossible to me at the beginning, but after about 2 solid hours of grinding this out I was playing it flawlessly at 114! Great tutorial and a fun piece!

    I think they’re now ‘poofs’ but the original name of the exercise was ‘Schlitz and giggles’ in the 1996/97 season before going to the South Park name.

      Schlitz n giggles was originally shits and giggles and I believe was initially played in ‘99. Marched in the tenor line that year.

    Those Right Hand Accented Flam Accent thingies feels like the 2:3 polyrhythm, but a flam instead of a double stop.
    We should just call them poofs

    Haven't played drums since high school over a decade ago. Managed to keep up until the two 5's after the 9. Never was any good at them. I'm pretty amazed at how much my hands remember how to do to be honest. These videos are fun to play along with, man.

    The "poof" is a 3 over 2. The timing is a little more open than if it were the same as a drag.

    I was told back in the 1990s that they were called "grandmas". I thought the name was fitting, since the accented hand is moving in slow-motion (slow, like an old lady)

    • @mesmedly241
      @mesmedly241 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right there with you! Plus, while playing triplets it helped to say "Grand-Ma" for the accented notes.

    The 9lets and 5lets confuse me so much, not on the rhythm or anything but how you play them with bounce doubles, wrist doubles, or diddles.
