First I've seen of this pen, so thanks, Chris, for this review. HongDian and Asvine are really upping the game lately, and making the most exciting developments in the pen world.
I, too, have been gratified with the design and quality of these pens, particularly Hong Dian, this year. I do have two comments on this pen. I wish it came with their soft nib which has been phenomenal. While the ink capacity is not negligible, I would agree that the design of the piston would allow the capacity to increase to 2mlclike other manufacturers have done. A very thorough review, Chris. Keep going. I have come into the fold for about two years and look forward to seeing them. It is a joy to view your videos.
Chris, you kind of touched my heart when you said you really, really liked this pen. When you and Doug both have such good things to say about a pen, I kind of sit up and take notice. So...I just ordered the blue version of this pen. You sold it. I did so much enjoy your well wishes and personal comments. It's just what I needed to hear today. Merry Christmas to you!
These types of pen styles feel very gothic to me even though they would be considered more Deco in design. Very cool. I have the Conklin Endura Deco Crest in orange and gun metal and I love to look at it. I really like what Hong Dian has been doing for the last few years. Thank you for your videos. Cheers
Excellent review. As a general rule, I usually open these Hongdian pistons with the key. Sometimes half to three-quarters of a centimeter of capacity is gained. But mostly I open them up because I want to be very generous with silicone grease here (minute 09:46) to help give more stability to the piston rod along with the knob.
This dark metal overlay reminds me of a knight's armour, something you could expect in the Witcher series. Very nice, another pen which is _almost_ for me (I just avoid EF/F nibs). So, even if these recent pens are not something I will buy, I really appreciate possibility to see a review - this way I will know which pen to buy once they produced a wider choice of nibs.

Thanks for your review, great review, I agree with you, I just receive my A6 today and wow, Hongdian everyday makes better Fountain Pens, this is my third Hongdian and I love it, in my case Nib is not as soft as my N23 but is awesome, and works great with my ink selection Diamine Polar Glow, I love how it writes, hope get more Hongdian pens from my wishlist
Thanks for the review! I keep on checking TH-cam tocheck whether you and others who I follow uploaded new pen videos. Please carry on your wonderful work!
Thank you Chris, upon hearing your closing remarks last night, I managed to snag one of the last 10 (Black) of these reasonably priced, well engineered works of art. This is not the first HD that you enticed me to buy and so far I have loved them all. Regards, 🇨🇦
Thanks for the video Chis I have been looking at various skeleton pens for a while but seeing this darker chrome one is the one for me(just ordered one)thanks again👍
The Hongdian D5 reminds me of something you could see Dracula using, or something that was for the church or the Knights Templar. Very attractive looking pen. The A6 is attractive looking as well.
Greetings from Australia. Great Review Chris. I was going to cap of my Hong dian collection with 12 pens, but Hong dian are continually bringing out innovative new pens. I love the Qin Dynasty pens. I have three of them, three year of the rabbits and most of the N series piston fillers. They are awesome, especially the ones with long knife blade. I buy all my pens on Ebay Australia. The D5s seem to be very popular and my seller has knocked up the delivered price to $90 Aud. The price was knocked up by $10. However, I'll be getting one of these pens. BTW these pens are $60 Aud delivered. Thanks for the review.
Amazing like always master, your master class is exquisite like always, thank you for your extensive (and very interesting!) reviews about Chinese pens, I'm into them too so thank you to show all the details and everything. Have a happy holidays. Saludos desde España 😉
I really, really like your reviews, Chris! HongDian has been on a roll and you've got another impressive example. Have to say, I'm not a fan of piston designs that require various wrenches. One for all would be my motto, preferably none. Keep enjoying putting nnnnnib to paper...
I can't imagine pen makers agreeing on anything. How many different screw in nib assemblies are there? Even the top nib makers don't agree. Sometimes the piston design is limited by the pen design. With Chinese pens, I suspect there are a few making these piston units. They developed their own style.

I'm a regular viewer Chris and really appreciate the effort you put forth. Please keep going!
I appreciate that!

Thanks. Who has 2ml piston fill pen?
@@chrisrap52 I think the Wing Sung 630 is about 2.1 ml. 1.7 is a good amount, though.

And a Joyous New Year for you. Many pens to enjoy.
Thanks Chris! Yes, Golden Age seems to be upon us. Always informative and entertaining!

Gorgeous pen. Love the review
Thanks so much!
I never heard of Cachaca until right now! Always learning. Thanks Chris
I was in Brasil for a few months many years ago. Became very acquainted with Cachaca.

D5 is a unique pen with lots of visual appeal.

I got the black version on Prime Day and just loaded it up with Diamine Astral-- so great! Smooth, bouncy, and even spooky for Halloween 🦇🎃
Great buy. I'm doing a revisit to the A6. Been my EDC for the last week.
😀
Looks like an exoskeleton 😮.
Eek!!
Futuristic!
6:30 How do you like your Cachaza? LOL
51 was my favorite. I loved meia de sedas
Ill look for it.
