Doug, you've sold me on this one. When both you and Chrisrap like a pen so well, I have to pay attention. I've never been interested in the skeleton pens, but darn it, this pen is sharp looking. It looks like a way more expensive pen, with that nice nib and feed. And I like Hongdian anyway. So..I just ordered it. Thanks for the great review.
Bought the pen after this video, just been having a blast writing with this! Surprisingly smooth with good feedback for a Hongdian. I was also pleasantly surprised to find the feed supplying a decent amount of ink when i write, not like my N7 which feels a bit dry. Great review!
Loving your generous output these days, Doug! I felt Jason and the Argonauts coming. Refrained from "suggesting," on your last skeleton review--you know what you're doing. Loved the Simpsons dweebs, too--fountain pen users for sure. Hongdian seems to be the new PenBBS of a couple years ago; the lights appear to be off over there. Cheers!
The notebook I use for reviews is a spiral bound, lined A5. My daily journal is a Clairefontaine "My Essential" thread bound A5 5mm dot grid. Both are 90 gsm.
Thanks you for this review. After the N11 which I like a lot, and I've ordered the A6 after a long indecision between the blue and gunmetal (finally I ordered the gun metal but ... hum .... perhaps .... I coud have .... but .... 🙂). Asvine and Hongdian have proposed very good pens these last weeks. Chinese continue to improve week after week.
"Now that I can see the spider,I like it even less."- got my VHQ for the morning, thank you! Much appreciated. The "screams" that Jason's attacker-skeletons made is worth replaying too! I would watch that movie again ;but,I quit smoking years ago. I may have hit the "Great Wall" on most Chinese and pens, having found the one that suits me best, the HERO 565. I would like to try a newer Hongdian nib when/if they decide to offer them with a nib. Enjoyed the review! Thank you.
I only have one skeleton pen that I enjoy - the Visconti Skeleton which is made from titanium and silver. Perhaps the lightness of the titanium makes the pen more enjoyable. Otherwise I go for acrylic bodies; smooth, nice to the touch, beautiful resins, but I digress. Looking forward to the review of the N12, for sure. The nibs from Hong Dian have been outstanding. My D1 nib is soft and worthy to certainly keep. I wonder if the N10 with the #8 nib will be the same. Mine is with a "local carrier" for the past 4 days, whatever that means.
I've had numerous problems with 365 Stationery Store, including items that are sent to the wrong part of the country and I am told it is at my local shipping center, a pen that failed to arrive within the promised time frame with a monetary guarantee for on-time delivery which, when I pointed it out to the seller, they denied having ever promised me anything of the kind, to, most recently, a pen whose description suggests it was a Visconti Van Gogh "Starry Nights" in deep blue resin. It's blue, but there the two roads diverged in the yellow wood, or, the pen from the description. Your mileage may vary, but I'm finished dealing with them.

Thanks, Teresa! Enjoy!

Great to hear!
I was debating between all of the different skeleton pen options & finally settled on the A6. Can't wait for it to arrive now!
Ok, that just made that pen so much more cooler, having a spider in the overlay.
Spider lover! :)
Thanks Doug it’s a lovely pen

I agree!
Doug's response to each skeleton pen: "Buckle up Bonehead. 'Cause you're goin' for a ride!"
LOL
Hi Doug, you could say this Hongdian is a Visconti killer, well it has one major advantage over my experience with Visconti.....it writes.
LOL! True that!
Good review, as usual. And, I agree with you about "skeleton" pens: Too kitschy.
Thanks for watching!
Another great review. Thank you. I always wanted to ask about the size and type of the clairefontaine notebook you are using. Thank you.

Awesome! Thanks Michael.
I wish they also made the silver one with s non tinted barrel. It's stunning regardless.

My N10 along with MaJohn A3 and N102 was sent to someone else by 365Days. I had to buy them again and they won’t be here until mid January.

I agree. Plus they keep calling me “darling”!
Nobody has called me "darling" in years. You must have something I don't, Doug!@@InkquiringMinds
Had to laugh about the spider fountain pen. I liked it so much less, I refused to buy one. I do have an A6 on order now though.
Escribe de maravilla
so if you have a normal bottle just stick the nib in and twist?
Yes. Like a normal piston filler.
