In the third measure, the natural sign on the second C is unnecessary. Since the second C is on a different octave than the first C#, the second C remains unaffected by the sharp on the first C.
Eric Chi I hear your in the houston area. I actually plan on attending college there and will be visiting there in the next month, is there anyway I can get a lesson from you while I'm up there? By the way I'm going into my senior year and I sat 37th chair in 6A all-state last year
In measure 14 when you did the turn on the A, did you use a fake fingering for B using one of the side keys on the right of the clarinet, or did you just use the regular right hand fingering for B?
Hey Eric, so I made area auditions, and I can play this etude faster than 104, should I play it that fast area or stay within the tempo range? Like I'm going super fast on the first one but idk if speed is a factor on this etude or not
Zach ary Personally I wouldn't take any faster than 108. It's the articulation etude so I that's what I would focus on. The style and details are what this is about. If you want to shred, play the fast one at 96.
In measure 6, there's staccato on the eighth notes, but there's no staccato markings on eighth notes in measure 5. Do you recommend play those two measure differently?
I play the figure the same way everytime, with staccatos. It makes no sense to play them differently, particularly because it's marked with staccatos in measure 9.
Do you think judges will count points off if someone playing it differently and I play them all the same? I mean it's weird, but it's technically correct on the page. Thank you so much for answering!!
since the beat 4 of measure 36 is not under the slur with the cadenza, we suppose to tongue that beat 4 right? or does it suppose to be under the slur?
First practice them slurred to make sure the fingers are even. Then you can practice stop tonguing each note slowly in order to try to connect the end of one note with the beginning of the next.

Not really. The only other alternative is to hold down the C# key with your pinky and just trill the ring finger. It does make the D really sharp however and I personally find it more difficult to do. Just work on doing it accurately. Speed will come.
I hate myself for not practicing all summer.
It's not too late to start.
IM ACTUALLY LUCKY I PLAYED THIS ETUDE BEFORE
Same here, I cant figure out where I played it before though
I wish I could find a tuba one
Larry Martinez Bro, same
You can find the oboe one on my channel ;) th-cam.com/video/7FsjXnJgzeU/w-d-xo.html
This one's my favorite =)
Same it's so catchy

Top side key. It sounds better at fast speeds.
I'm struggling so much on measure 47. I can't tongue that fast 💀
It's most likely a length issue. Use a dee or nee syllable, not a tee. You really just want to touch the reed and get off it, not stop the sound.

Btw I really appreciate your videos

Eric Chi Sweet I'll do that then, thanks again Mr.Chi!
Wowza. Amazing

They can't fault you for playing what is on the page, even if it doesn't make sense.
How could I slow this down?
There's an option in the playback settings in the bottom right hand corner.
since the beat 4 of measure 36 is not under the slur with the cadenza, we suppose to tongue that beat 4 right? or does it suppose to be under the slur?
You should technically tongue the high D in measure 36.
Eric Chi thank you!
Do you play the dolce section the same tempo as the rest of the music
Wondiye Degefa Yes.
Any tips on lining up my tongue and fingers in measures 2 and 4?
First practice them slurred to make sure the fingers are even. Then you can practice stop tonguing each note slowly in order to try to connect the end of one note with the beginning of the next.
Do some etudes repeat? I think I remember playing this no less than 4 years ago in high school lol
They don't have a regular cycle but the same ones do come back every now and then. It has to be more than 4-5 years before one repeats though.
I wish I could play as pretty as you.
Kimberly Ramos sameee!
Do you have any tips on how to keep the sextuplets even and clear? I keep compressing them, especially when I try to increase the speed.
Think of them as two sets of triplets. It's almost always the second set that needs more weight.
Eric chi when did u start practicing
I've been playing clarinet for 20 years. I recorded these etudes in about 30 minutes.
Eric Chi so u started practicing the etudes 30 minutes before you recorded them?
Ashley Shields It took me 30 minutes to practice and record these etudes. To be fair, I have played them all before.
I KNOW YOU!!
Adrian Arzate this isn't carolina crown lol
Uh I lost my copy of this is there any way I can get a link so I can print this out please thanks
For some reason, I can't paste links in this comment. Search Rose 40. There's a website called IMSLP that has it for free.
What notes are used on the turn around on measure 14
A, B, A, G#, A. It's best to play the B with the top right hand trill key.
just cause I have to rose etudes
Do you know where to get the sheet music from online?

what tempo is this ??
Quarter = 104
Great ,what's the mouthpiece ?
It's a new mouthpiece by Ramon Wodkowski. It's his 1b model.
is there an easier way to trill c# to d on measure 31
Not really. The only other alternative is to hold down the C# key with your pinky and just trill the ring finger. It does make the D really sharp however and I personally find it more difficult to do. Just work on doing it accurately. Speed will come.
Eric Chi thank you!
