Thank you Lord for Fr Mike and the CIY and BIY staff and participants, for this journey through your truth. I think I will repeat this journey in 2024 and continue this walk with you, Lord. Amen.
We have come to the end of our Catechism journey. I did the Bible in a Year last year. It will be strange to not hear Fr Mike’s happy voice every day. I will continue to pray for you. May God bless you in 2024.

Please remember me every day in your prayers as I will always remember you. Don't ever forget for a moment that you are doing great things for so many people around the world. God bless you always 🌹
Prayers for Father Mike, blessings for this tremendous nearly past year no, only another day. through the Catechism, daily. What a way to end! I have learned so much. When I began this I challenged myself to stay the course AND I HAVE! I am so thankful I did and proud of myself, thankful to God. I would never have read through the entire Catechism without this daily guidance. I have had my copy for a long time and only skimmed certain things periodically, rarely. Some days I groaned through a session, , "oh c'mon" yet every day by the conclusion, I was encouraged and sometimes very enlightened, I am a lifelong Catholic though I strayed for several years. Now in my 70's I know it was time invested well over this year with Father Mike through our Catechism. I am enriched and strengthened to persevere with God's Grace. God bless all on this path.
Dear Lord, I raise up in prayer Fr. Mike and everyone who has/is/will be taking this CIAY course of study with me for our sanctity and salvation. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen. God bless Fr. Mike and his crew that made my learning (after over a 1/2 of a century of living) the CCC possible and in a way that was so fresh, new and meaningful. I am grateful. Wishing all a safe and blessed 2024.
It is hard to believe we are here... the day before the last day... I almost want to shed a tear. I will miss this so much every day. And you cannot believe how many times I wanted to give up... but here we all are! I am making efforts to transform myself and not just inform myself... but, wow, did I learn a lot!

Mike for the next Pope - your heart is perfect - thank you for leading us and teaching us as Jesus would have you do! Blessings, elvy
My fellow Christians. As we near the end of this year in CIY, I've read your comments and recognize many of your names/handles. I feel that I've got to know many of you, in your prayers, petitions, convictions and miracles. What a great family! Many of you encourage to pray for the holy souls and the most forgotten soul in Purgatory, they need our prayers. Please try to make this a 2024 New Year's resolution to pray for them each day. I wish you all a blessed, healthy and prosperous New Year in 2024. Always in Christ. 12/30/2023
❤❤❤O greatly Merciful God, Infinite Goodness, today all mankind calls out from the abyss of its misery to Your mercy---to Your compassion, O God; and it is with its mighty voice of misery that it cries out. Gracious God do not reject the prayer of this earth's exiles! O Lord, goodness beyond our understanding, Who are acquainted with our misery through and through, and know that by our own power we cannot ascend to You, we implore You; anticipate us with Your Grace and keep on increasing Your mercy in us, that we may faithfully do Your Holy Will all through our life and at death's hour. Let the omnipotence of Your mercy shield us from the darts of our salvation's enemies, that we may with confidence, as Your children await Your Son's final coming - that day known to You alone. And we expect to obtain everything promised us by Jesus in spite of all our wretchedness. For Jesus is our Hope: Through His merciful Heart as through an open gate we pass through to heaven. Amen❤❤❤
FIRST COMMENT OF THE DAY. DAY 364....!!! WOW ONLY ONE DAY LEFT OF THE CIY PODCAST. I can not believe it is just one day left. Thank you so much Father Mike Schmitz and Ascension press. God bless. Deo gratia.
I concur with your sentiment. This CIY course has been an illumination of my catholic faith + gratefulness + thanfulness to Fr Mike + Ascention team opening it up to us all. God bless - take care . 😊🕊️
Thank you so much Fr Mike. It's so sad this journey is coming to an end. I pray that everyone that joined you has been transformed. God bless you all and may He be with you throughout 2024🎉❤
Father Mike, as a cradle Catholic I must admit I’ve never been as confident about sharing my Catholic faith as I am now, because of this wonderful podcast. I am truly thankful for this community whom you’ve guided so beautifully this past year. “It’s not about information transfer but about transformation.” I really am transformed and I thank you, Fr. Mike for sharing your deep knowledge and obvious love of our Lord and our Catholic faith. Thanks to the whole Ascention Team for your continuous hard work. I’ll miss everyone who joined this podcast and hopefully I’ll see you over in Bible in a Year. (I made it halfway through two years ago, fell behind and never finished. But I’m determined to get through this year). Thank you again, Fr. Mike. It’s been one amazing journey with all of you! 🙏🏻💙🙏🏻
so totally agree it’s been a wonderful and challenging but an exciting year of transformation for me as well- you make a difference in people’s lives. Your love for Christ is so beautiful and contagious. Thank you so much and on Jan 1 - i will begin BIY
Thank you Father Mike , this year has been such a blessing, your enthusiasm and love of the Catholic faith has been such an inspiration. God bless you 🙏
It seems like yesterday and now when on the last leg of our spiritual journey of our Catholic faith. What a gift from our Heavenly Father for having Father Mike and everyone as prayer warriors. May God deliver us from every evil and make straight our path to holiness. O God, with you, nothing is impossible. Amen. Glory and thanks be to God forever and ever. Amen. I love you dear Lord forever and ever.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤...
Thank you father for your spiritual guidance in explaining CIY and BIY .. definitely we cannot do this alone .. thank you thank you thank you ... prayers for you always 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you, Father Mike for your passion and enthusiasm in praying with all of us with the intention to save us and all the souls throughout the world. Dear Jesus, we humbly ask You to save us and all sinners in the world.
Praying for you, Fr Mike, Thank you for praying for all of us. Thank you for teaching us The Catechism. Now I'm starting over with the Bible in January. May you be blessed in all you do in the coming year. Claire.
We ask God our Father not to leave us alone and in the power of temptation. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us know how to discern, on the one hand, between a trial that makes us grow in goodness and a temptation that leads to sin and death and, on the other hand, between being tempted and consenting to temptation. "Evil" indicates the person of Satan who opposes God and is "the deceiver" of the whole world. " Victory over the devil has already been done by Christ. We pray, however, that the human family be freed from Satan and his works. We also ask for the precious gift of peace and the grace of final perseverance as we wait for the coming of Christ, who will free us definitely from the evil one. God, I give you glory 🙏
Thank you Fr Mike and Ascension Press, you are a blessing to all of us. I will surely miss the daily updates and encouraging words from Fr Mike. God bless to all CIY participants. One year with you all is indeed special and inspirational. Thanks to Dr Scott for the Catechism Answers CIY. Prayers to all 🙏🙏🙏 HAPPY NEW YEAR !! Prayers from Sydney, Australia ♥
I’ve absolutely loved this ‘cast of the Catechism in a Year. As much as I’ve loved each day I love this community. Each & everyone of you that prayed, commented (even rjskeptic), shared yourselves & just loved one another are so special. I’ve tried to read as many of the comments as possible & responded to many. I’ve been humbled by the courage & perseverance of so many of you dealing with such heavy burdens. I’ve felt so much love from others when I revealed my burdens. I’ve prayed for children who’ve left the Church, someone dealing with a devastating diagnosis, loss of loved ones, & every conceivable trial & temptation. I hope you know how very special each & every one of you are. May God bless you abundantly.🙏❤️
Thank you Father. I really enjoyed this year with the catechism. Have also been listening to the Bible in a year. May need to do it again next year and really listen. Thank you❤
Prayer to Obtain Final Perseverance Eternal Father, I humbly adore and thank Thee for having created me, and for having redeemed me by means of Jesus Christ. I thank Thee for having made me a Christian by giving me the true faith, and by adopting me for Thy child in holy Baptism. I thank Thee for having given me time for repentance after my many sins, and for having, as I hope, pardoned all my offenses against Thee. O Infinite Goodness! I thank Thee also for having preserved me from falling again as often as I should have done if Thou hadst not held me up and saved me. But my enemies do not cease to fight against me, nor will they until death, that they may again have me for their slave; If Thou dost not keep and help me continually by Thine assistance, I shall be wretched enough to lose Thy grace anew. I therefore pray Thee, for the love of Jesus Christ, to grant me holy perseverance till death. Thy Son Jesus has promised that Thou wilt grant us whatever we ask for in His name. By the merits, then of Jesus Christ, I beg of Thee for myself, and for all those who are in Thy grace, the grace of never more being separated from Thy love, but that we may always love Thee in this life and in the next. Amen. V. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, R. I give you my heart and my soul. V. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, R. Assist me in my last agony. V. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, R. May I sleep and take my rest in peace with you. Amen.
Lord, fight for us. Agreed, for sometimes I dive headlong into old Prodigal habits and am so slow to return from death. The battle continues. Thanks for your prayers, Father Mike.
Fr Mike, please pray for me a poor sinner as I m suffering fr numbness of both soles so tt I can walk to attend mass. Thank you and God bless you. Amen 🙏
❤❤❤🙏❤🙏 May God bless you with strength in your daily tasks, wisdom in your decisions, favor in your labors and provisions in your daily needs through Christ Our Lord. Amen. 🙏❤🙏❤❤❤
We are faced with daily temptations and only through prayer, study of the scripture, grace and the community, we can develop the strength to say no to temptations and battle it. Even if one doesn't consider the Devil as an entity, one must consider the fact that there are forces that want us to stray away from the path of salvation and also take us away (or kidnap) us from our Heavenly Father. The prayer "lead us not into temptation" is indeed a request to God to help us to protect us from getting led to the sins that follow temptations. God will not allow us to be tempted that is beyond our power. The difference between trials and temptations is real. When a trial occurs, we have to do it as a part of our work, life or studies. Trails make us stronger (Nice analogy by Fr. Mike- exercise, studies, etc.). When we are tempted, we don't need to do it but we have the desire to do it or get it for (often) irrational/temporary reasons. The myth is busted here by Fr. Mike that a mere thought of temptation is not a sin but acting on it or entertaining it is a sin. Examples of people overcoming temptations are King David (fought the temptation to worship false gods/kill King Saul when asleep), Job (fought the temptation of cursing God or ending his own life), and Jesus (fought the temptations in the desert - directly faced the Devil). Prayers keep us reminded about all of this and praying for each other helps to realize that we are all in this together. The Lord's Prayer and Hail Mary, both are so useful in battling temptations. The analysis of the fight between the new Eve (Mother Mary) and the beast (the Devil) is a good reminder of spiritual warfare. The result of a sin and acting on temptations (like Adam and Eve) is death. This episode is worth watching and listening to whenever we want to get reminded about temptations and how to overcome them. Thank you so much Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. All of your work is important and helpful. May the work of Ascension and Fr. Mike continue to glorify God and empower people everywhere. I'm praying for you and for the fellow listeners. God bless and protect you all
@@TrixRN It's my pleasure 🙏 I'm so glad that you liked my summaries and reflections. Thank you so much for your kind comments, wisdom and best wishes too, Theresa! God bless you always, and give you a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life ahead!

Thank you, Father Mike and the folks at Ascension Press, for making the CIY such an inspiration and guide for all of us. As a cradle Catholic and an attendee of Catholic schools grades 1-12, I was in religion class daily, but I learned so much more in this one year than in my entire time at school. The CIY has been such a blessing to me and countless others. God bless you!
What an awesome journey & abundant blessings through the CIY with Fr. Mike! God bless you ceaselessly Fr. Mike for the blessing you have been to countless others through this faith journey 🙏🏽
Thank you Fr. Mike for this very clear cut explanation of prayer and grace such a profound insight .. 🙏prayers always for all who seek the kingdom of God first and foremost 🙏Amen Amen to this Catechism in a year podcast 😇
Amen. This is so important what you speak of. I have been asking for help from my thoughts and your message from the Lord God Almighty is very helpful. Thank you.
I’ve loved the Song of the Day.❤️🎶❤️ It was uncanny how you could find the perfect song for each session! Thank you for enriching our learning & life.🙏❤️
Oh, Song of the Day? G'day Elizabeth and all CIY'ers! I must have missed this then. I'm late today. Have to finish all my chores today as tomorrow is the Lord's Day. Now I'm ready for Fr Mike's lesson!
❤❤❤May the Lord bless you with comfort, a welcoming peace, a joy that you will experience and immediately want to share with others. May the peace of the Lord be with us all. ❤❤❤ Your song selection is a beautiful gift we look forward to each day. Thank you ❤
I've poured my life into prayer and battling sins and temptations, but it hasn't really ever ended. In fact, the more I've battled and tried and the more I've learned, the more I see how sinful and weak I am. I never really advanced, but saw that I'm a more of a sinner than initially realised. To be sure, it's not a matter of scrupulosity (seeing imaginary sins or not accepting God's mercy for sins already confessed and forgiven) as some might be tempted to infer. Rather, it's like slowly coming out of a dungeon into the daylight and realising how grimy my soul has been and still is. Or similarly, it's like a car crash patient realising that he has more injuries than initially known after he arrives at the hospital and after the doctors receive the medical reports from x-rays.
Dsy 364, so so powerful! Fr. Mike, your teaching today has brought me to bittersweet tears, in now understanding the incredible beauty of this prayer, and in anticipation of the end of our time together. Thank you, and God bless you and this entire CIAY family from the bottom of my heart. ❤
18:05 Father Mike sincerely asks us to consider praying for the grace of final perseverance every day. Asking our Lord for the grace to say we belong to Him right now and "Yes" to Him with our last breath. 11:40 and lead us not into temptation= to not allow us into temptation; or do not allow us to yield to temptation James 1:13 "No one experiencing temptation should say, “I am being tempted by God"; for God is not subject to temptation to evil, and He Himself tempts no one. We can never say God is tempting us because God does not and never tempts us. The petition implores the Spirit of discernment and strength. 12:40 The Holy Spirit makes us discern between trials, which are necessary for the growth of the inner man, and temptation, which leads to sin and death. We have to face some kind of opposition in order to grow, such as how muscles grow to become stronger and how our brains learn things by being challenged to become smarter. Temptation is different. Being tempted to sin is not that same thing as consenting to sin. 13:38 We must also discern between being tempted and consenting to temptation. Sometimes we have intrusive thoughts, like invasive thoughts that come into a person's mind. We didn't ask for these and don't want these thoughts but there they are. The right response would be to ask for God's help to banish them, or to help us distract ourselves from them. Those thoughts are only temptations. If we didn't entertain them or consent to them, there's no sin. Instead there's victory over that temptation because those thoughts were resisted with God's help. If someone does consent to them, or entertain those thoughts, then yes, that would be sinning. But just having the thought pop into someone's head is not sinning. 14:45 Finally, discernment unmasks the lie of temptation, whose object appears to be good, a "delight to the eyes" and desirable, when in reality its fruit is death. The lie of temptation is that sin is good when in reality we know that sin leads to death. 15:00 Consider Adam and Eve in the Garden, with Eve looking at the fruit where it was a delight to the eyes, out for getting wisdom, and doesn't seem like anything is wrong with it, and yet, it brought death. 15:30 "God does not want to impose the good, but wants free beings.... There is a certain usefulness to temptation. No one but God knows what our soul has received from Him, not even we ourselves. But temptation reveals it in order to teach us to know ourselves, and in this way we discover our evil inclinations and are obliged to give thanks for the goods that temptation has revealed to us." -Origin 16:00 "lead us not into temptation" implies a decision of the heart. We're free, but we limp. We have strength, but not all strength. And so, we need to assent to the Holy Spirit, and the Father gives us strength. 16:30 1 Corinthians 10:13 No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial He will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it. Temptation of exceptionalism- Knowing God's calling us, but we justify our particular wound or temptation or thing in our life that makes us an exception to following God's will. 17:35 We need discernment and strength. 2849 Such a battle and such a victory become possible only through prayer. 18:00 Finally, this petition takes on all its dramatic meaning in relation to the last temptation of our earthly battle; it asks for final perseverance. "Lo, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is He who is awake." 19:14 "deliver us from evil" Luke 8:44 You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies. The Devil is the deceiver of the whole world. He is smarter and more powerful than us. Every time we pray The Lord's prayer, we're asking God, please fight him for me. 8:36 "The Lord who has taken away your sin and pardoned your faults also protects you and keeps you from the wiles of your adversary the devil, so that the enemy, who is accustomed to leading into sin, may not surprise you. One who entrusts himself to God does not dread the devil. 'If God is for us, who is against us?'" -Saint Ambrose 20:46 Victory over the "prince of this world" was won once for all at the Hour when Jesus freely gave himself up to death to give us his life. This is the judgment of this world, and the prince of this world is "cast out." "He pursued the woman" but had no hold on her: the new Eve, "full of grace" of the Holy Spirit, is preserved from sin and the corruption of death (the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God, Mary, ever virgin). "Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring." Therefore the Spirit and the Church pray: "Come, Lord Jesus," since his coming will deliver us from the Evil One. 23:12 The final doxology, "For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever," takes up again, by inclusion, the first three petitions to our Father: the glorification of his name, the coming of his reign, and the power of his saving will. 11:00 "Then, after the prayer is over you say 'Amen,' which means 'So be it,' thus ratifying with our 'Amen' what is contained in the prayer that God has taught us." -Saint Cyril of Jerusalem The Lord's Prayer (the prayer Lord Jesus taught us): "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." I'm praying for you. Please pray for me. Hope you all have a light-filled peaceful good Happy New Year!

Yes, we always need to pray for the souls in purgatory. God bless you
❤❤❤O greatly Merciful God, Infinite Goodness,
today all mankind calls out from the abyss
of its misery to Your mercy---to Your compassion,
O God; and it is with its mighty voice of misery that it cries out.
Gracious God do not reject the prayer of this earth's exiles!
O Lord, goodness beyond our understanding,
Who are acquainted with our misery through and through,
and know that by our own power
we cannot ascend to You,
we implore You; anticipate us with Your Grace
and keep on increasing Your mercy in us,
that we may faithfully do Your Holy Will
all through our life and at death's hour.
Let the omnipotence of Your mercy
shield us from the darts of our salvation's enemies,
that we may with confidence,
as Your children await Your Son's final coming
- that day known to You alone.
And we expect to obtain everything promised us
by Jesus in spite of all our wretchedness.
For Jesus is our Hope:
Through His merciful Heart
as through an open gate we pass through to heaven.
Amen❤❤❤
Thank you Father so much. We have learned so much and love our faith even more ❤

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! ❤❤❤
In Spanish we say “No nos dejes caer en tentación.” Do not allow us to fall into temptation.

Word.🙏☘️
Thanks Father for a great year..
Praise be to God
Thanks for all the short condense summaries you have posted throughout this year. 🥰🙏
Amen.
Thank you!🙏❤️

Thank you do much.
❤🙏
It really has been the most amazing journey. I’m sad it’s ending.
I will miss you! ❤❤
I will miss you all. It's going to be so strange not being with this community. God bless you all 🙏
May God bless you too! I will miss my morning meetings with this community. Take care, and maybe we will "meet" in a future podcast. 🙏💖🥰

Prayer to Obtain Final Perseverance
Eternal Father, I humbly adore and thank Thee for having created me, and for having redeemed me by means of Jesus Christ. Amen.
V. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
R. I give you my heart and my soul.
V. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
R. Assist me in my last agony.
V. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,
R. May I sleep and take my rest in peace with you. Amen.

It's been a great year with blessings Thanks Ascension press team
May God bless you always 🙏 wishing you a happy, healthy, safe, and blessed New Year
I've poured my life into prayer and battling sins and temptations, but it hasn't really ever ended.
May the Lord preserve you in the war against temptation and in your final perseverance.
Day 364(27-June-2024)
Happy Thursday
A❤m❤e❤n❤
Dsy 364, so so powerful! Fr. Mike, your teaching today has brought me to bittersweet tears, in now understanding the incredible beauty of this prayer, and in anticipation of the end of our time together. Thank you, and God bless you and this entire CIAY family from the bottom of my heart. ❤
18:05 Father Mike sincerely asks us to consider praying for the grace of final perseverance every day. Asking our Lord for the grace to say we belong to Him right now and "Yes" to Him with our last breath.
11:40 and lead us not into temptation= to not allow us into temptation; or do not allow us to yield to temptation
James 1:13 "No one experiencing temptation should say, “I am being tempted by God"; for God is not subject to temptation to evil, and He Himself tempts no one.
But temptation reveals it in order to teach us to know ourselves, and in this way we discover our evil inclinations and are obliged to give thanks for the goods that temptation has revealed to us."
-Origin
16:00 "lead us not into temptation" implies a decision of the heart.
Blessed is He who is awake."
19:14 "deliver us from evil"
Luke 8:44 You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father’s desires.
'If God is for us, who is against us?'"
-Saint Ambrose
20:46 Victory over the "prince of this world" was won once for all at the Hour when Jesus freely gave himself up to death to give us his life.
11:00 "Then, after the prayer is over you say 'Amen,' which means 'So be it,' thus ratifying with our 'Amen' what is contained in the prayer that God has taught us."
-Saint Cyril of Jerusalem
The Lord's Prayer (the prayer Lord Jesus taught us):
"Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
I'm praying for you. Please pray for me. Hope you all have a light-filled peaceful good Happy New Year!
