Mike, Do you still have the factory calibration on your speedometer? If so, your not really getting an accurate MPG reading. Your truck is actually covering more miles than the computer is aware of (due to the larger circumference of the tires!) I’ve got a 2019 3.5 Eco and went from a 2” level on 33’s to a 4” BDS on 35’s and only lost about 1 MPG. My truck is tuned, however, so I was able to recalibrate the computer to account for the larger tires.
I lifted my ‘19 F150 in the summer 6” and got some 33’s I feel so slow. I really wish I lowered my truck and got faster. Hindsight is 20/20 also found out you can go back to stock height, it sucks.
I wonder, does that extra width make yours about the same width of the wheelbase as in the new Ford F150 Raptor? I think the Raptor is about 5"'s wider in total than the off the shelf Platinum if I remember correctly. I do not know if the interior cabin of the Raptor is any wider than the interior cabin of the Platinum.
The tires out past bodywork destroys paint. I’m in TX and dealers will kill trade value when they find the chips. The repairs cost them big and they now know to look. I personally like it as I make more money in my shop on ball joint and bearing hub replacements at way lower miles than seen with OE offset wheels.
Good info there. I have a '14 4x4 with the naturally aspirated 3.7 V-6 and a factory prepped bi-fuel CNG conversion kit, 3.73 rear axle. 265 70 17 stock wheels. The two fuel tanks hold about 55 gallons combined. I love the truck and before I did a couple of minor mods was getting 21 mpg. I did a 1.5" front lift and added some coils over the rear axles for haul capacity. I'd like to add bigger tires, maybe about 32". I did note a bit more wind resistance with the front end hike and a loss of maybe 2 mpg. But, I like the look much better, as the stock rake isn't as nice looking, though the truck handled fine in stock mode. So, if I get a little taller, meatier tires will I lose more mpg? I'm thinking so. But, ya know, with the natural gas, which I can fuel up at home cheaply, mpg isn't that big of a deal. If we want a cheap ride I guess we'd drive a Nissan Leaf or Chevy Bolt. Maybe for my second car. Thanks for the honest videos. Reality is a good thing. Your comments are most welcome and appreciated.
PA State-related question for you... First and foremost Congrats with the new Truck /Build! I noticed you have tinted the front windows to match the rears and I just wanted to ask if you have ever had any issues with authorities or passing inspection with PA STATE 70% regulations on front widows? I am a PA resident as well and would very much like to tint the front windows on my truck to match the rears which are factory 20%.
I live in PA and run modded vehicles for 40yrs or more... They HATE tinted windows, tinted plate covers, blacked out tail lights and stupid loud exhaust. If you don't do any of that but are riding high with no more than 1-2" outside fenders, you'll probably be ok.
I hope they calibrated the speedometer for the different (larger) tires. Also, when you lift a truck, you need to think about your front axles and them no longer being straight and putting extra wear & tear on the joints.
Tires stick out. Gotta love these people who don’t give a fuck about flicking up stones and destroying other peoples windshields. But hey: I am cool. I own a lifted truck so I a, all prepared when going groceries shopping.
On my 19 f-150. I had Rough country put their 6 inch lift. With the vertex shocks on front and rear. The ride is like riding on a cloud. But like you said. Mpg sucks!! Went from 17-18 to 13-15. If I baby it which doesn’t happen lol. But do we really build a truck for mpg?? Lol
I can appreciate those who do these extreme suspension mods to their vehicles, but I’d never have the balls to saw important suspension and safety structures from my 2021 Ford F-150 XLT! Cool vids though.
I love the setup very much. But, maybe it would have been nice to keep the car stock for a month before it was modded to avoid boredom later lol. 😂 but I’m guessing you won’t get bored. I bet more mods are coming all round 😂
is there any concern that when you "lift" your truck and add bigger tires there is an increased "rolling resistance" on the bearings and the differential wear increase? I would think you are introducing more"wear" on wheel and differential bearings?
I owned a number of pick up trucks over the years, and I’ve never felt like lifting them would do anything for their usefulness. It just makes it harder to see things that you’re about to hit if your truck doesn’t have cameras and sensors. You’re also going to change your gear ratio which is going to put more wear and tear on your drive train. Your fuel economy is also going to go down, and handing will suffer. Another thing to think about is all that extra weight is going to reduce your towing and carrying capacity. I get a truck to haul stuff, and need every little bit of carrying capacity I can get. Just my opinion
I gotta say the mpg loss could be the terrain as well. I live in wv and had a '12 wrangler getting 15mpg here. I made a trip to alabama and it jumped up to 21mpg. Flat and more straight roads. Yeah the lift plays a part but so does the roads you drive on.

Do you still have the factory calibration on your speedometer? If so, your not really getting an accurate MPG reading. Your truck is actually covering more miles than the computer is aware of (due to the larger circumference of the tires!) I’ve got a 2019 3.5 Eco and went from a 2” level on 33’s to a 4” BDS on 35’s and only lost about 1 MPG. My truck is tuned, however, so I was able to recalibrate the computer to account for the larger tires.
New exhaust for the raptor? And I think you should get a project car... aka mustang
Simple answer, don't. If anything lower it and put some nice fitting street tires on it.
Hey hello Mike why no studded bushwhacker on this beast... look better and less paint chips?thanks for sharing
Sound epic . If only ver could get these in Australia in factory right hand drive . 150K over here once converted locally.
Tires stick out. Gotta love these people who don’t give a fuck about flicking up stones and destroying other peoples windshields. But hey: I am cool. I own a lifted truck so I a, all prepared when going groceries shopping.
I’m glad the uk doesn’t have a lifted truck culture😂it doesn’t look cool
My stock 2015 5.0 gets 16mpg. Pretty happy with it
That’s up by the old gander mountain up in moon past outback and the old Kmart....moon zip code but I consider it Robinson.
Lol
I would preferred the factory option black wheels that he replaced with these ugly wheels
the factory wheels are ugly
@@Viacam wrong
I can appreciate those who do these extreme suspension mods to their vehicles, but I’d never have the balls to saw important suspension and safety structures from my 2021 Ford F-150 XLT! Cool vids though.
You seem like a nice and honest guy so I’m going to subscribe to your channel....thanks for your videos buddy...Awesome truck it looks good ....
looks super clean and super fun!
My 2017 ram is leveled with 35’s on stock wheels, only rubs on sway bar at full lock. Gas mileage dropped about 3-4 mpg also.
Smiles per gallon!! Beautiful truck
Beauty truck man sounds great! Mine will be here in 2 weeks and I can’t wait!
I do see this now for the first time but is there a antenna on the hood? That is so 1980's so i would do something about that Mike..
That new F150 pfff I love it I need a truck badly.
Im interested to know when guys will start tinkering with Forscan.
I love the setup very much. But, maybe it would have been nice to keep the car stock for a month before it was modded to avoid boredom later lol. 😂 but I’m guessing you won’t get bored. I bet more mods are coming all round 😂
May I asked why did you go with Lariat vs a Raptor? Knowing you wanted that aggressive look ?
Big bad truck u got their 😎
It's not meant for racing around but I see adventure 🌄🏜️🌇
I love it mike 👍🏻😂 fully sending the new f150 ....break in period is done!
What about the main thing you use trucks for…payload and towing restrictions from a lifted truck?
I echo a lot of others here but that's a sweet sounding exhaust system. Just right 👌🏻
is there any concern that when you "lift" your truck and add bigger tires there is an increased "rolling resistance" on the bearings and the differential wear increase? I would think you are introducing more"wear" on wheel and differential bearings?
Any advice or suggestions on replacing grill with raptor style? Is this available, where can I find it?
