Once again, valve's way of balancing a moba proves to be the better way of balancing

Deadlock is more free flow and not move restricted

smite is third person, but the map is basically still the same 2d flat surface with tunnels from the RTS heritage.

Deadlock takes the formula backwards, with a higher emphasis on creep management and last hitting/denying than any moba I've played. It feels good now, because it's new, but I found myself bored with the idea of learning another set of items, and bored with the idea of playing on another time gated map with lanes and side objectives.
You mentioned Gigantic. Yea, Gigantic would be the game that 'innovates these aspects and delivers them in an even bigger way'. Deadlock feels incredibly derivative, with the only new feature being the ability to return to lane quickly. Mobas where you manage funds and buy shit are, and should be, on the way out. No one likes being shut down by an enemy all game, only to have that enemy compound a lead in a way you could never come back from. This is another FF at 20 type Moba, and it's kind of pathetic at this stage of the genre.
The only thing worth noting here is the art direction, and even that only really works for the Heros. The environment is so drab it looks unfinished. The jungle mobs look like place holders. The boxes and statues you hit for money, have to be watched closely to make sure that even happened. Overall it suffers from a lack of visual feedback. The mini-map is good, but that's pretty hard to fuck up, as once again, this game simply borrows from others like Smite. It's be nice if the lanes actually changed appearance based on how far the enemy team had pushed up. Right now you have to look at the mini-map to tell which lanes are doing good, otherwise you might just run out into one that's completely taken and not even know it.
This game needs to change way more than I know it's going too, to become anything special. Currently it's just Smite with different Gods, and It's funny that no one seems to notice. Play Smite, it's so much better I don't even like comparing these two games.

yeah smite is better. That's why it currently have 8k peak ccp compared to Deadlock's 150k (past 24 hour).
Joke aside, i know more popular does not equal better, but man smite is just such a massive missed oportunity for me personally. I like the idea of 3d moba but Smite is literally just like any other RTS moba but the camera is placed behind you.
And the idea of having gods and goddesses from different mythologies as your roster intrigued me at first, but then the artstyle even in Smite 2 is just so cheap looking it makes me stray away from it.
You also mentioned the fact that deadlock maps looks unfinished and everything in the game looks like a bunch of placeholders. Well let me tell you a secret, it's because they are just a placeholders, WOW CRAZY i know. The fact that a game still this early in development, a game with a bunch of paceholders asset laying around includeng some that just straight up ripped from the previous version of the game, a game that's still in invite only phase, already have 150k+ consistent concurrent players, and still a lot of people want to play this game and doesn't have a key for it is insane (it's the second most wishlisted game on steam ahead of Monster Hunter Wilds and only second to Hollow Knight Silksong)

@@GoodChimkin Type 'The game has a lot of players in its Beta', but make it like.. 4 Paragraphs.

@@Basteal All i'm saying is, Deadlock is super fun. If you don't think so that's okay, a lot of others already thinks that this game is special even in it's unfinished stage.
Saying this game is just Smite with different gods but worse is just untrue. Smite use Third Person perspective as a gimmick, Deadlock use it to enhance the Moba experience.
The fact that this game manages to succesfully gather many playerbases from different games and genre is already a proof of how special this game is.
At the end of the day, this game is still far from finished and will keep changing until the final release. The visual is the least things you have to worry about, because like what you just said, everything is just a placeholder. Valve game has always been pretty, even the shit ones like Artifact are interesting to look at.
Core gameplay is good, fun, it's succesfull in making a Moba that's more engaging in it's moment to moment gameplay and if anything it's Smite 2 who needs to learn a lot of things from Deadlock if they want to be succesfull.

@@GoodChimkin I do respect your opinion, and think you've made some very fair points. Maybe I'm just baised because I dislike the game. I'm sure that's a factor.
Anyway, have a good one sir.
