Nice review. I've owned a slingshot since 2016 and never knew that you can hold the traction control button down for five seconds and put it in beast mode. I always just turned off the traction control and thought that was all there was to it. Thank you for showing me this trick and now I can't wait for warmer weather!! Hahahah

Thing with these typed of vehicles is that people buy one, ride it a bit and have fun. But then the novelty wears off and it gets ridden less and less and just takes up space in the garage. Then it gets sold.
haha..kind of yeah. Seriously, though. This is a fun ride but the truth is its kind of like purchasing a boat. You have a lot of fun for a season or too then you play with it less and less and it just takes up space. Then you try to sell it. Not everyone sells of course it but given the amount of space it takes up, the fact that you cant ride it year around and you are making payments on the vehicle like the boat, you see a lot of used on the market.
This theory applies to anything you buy for entertainment. No fun lasts forever. After a season or two we will always be ready for something new. If you can't sell it then trade it!!

This has been my daily driver for many months now in Victoria on Vancouver Island. Before I owned a car I put almost 140,000 miles on bikes, they were all I ever owned. This thing is so much fun. I remember riding in 7 solid hours of rain on my bike from Edmonton until arriving at my destination in Northern British Columbia (Ft St John) with a waterlogged pigskin jacket that weighed probably 20 lbs by the time I got there! Haven’t got the endurance for the heavy-rain rides anymore but I can throw on a full face helmet and do it all day long in this thing.
The Chevy Cruze comes with a 1.4 turbo or a 1.8 NA engine. This is the same 2.4L engine as some of the Cobalts. In actuality, I believe this engine and transmission are the same thing as a Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Ion.
Got to sit in one of these today - it instantly gave me that “I’m at home” feeling. Seat felt really tight and supportive, loved the shifter, loved the super light clutch feel. I might have to get me one of these...

Chin mounted cameras work on bikes..... not in a car seat. Makes no sense that this isn’t front wheel drive......or better yet, all wheel drive..... with a LOT more power (optional).
Christopher Carter Elsewhere in another video I’ve seen, a turbo slr is faster although it does fishtail more. You can pull faster if you control the throttle to the perfect rpm.
Honestly, these aren't really made for straight-line speed. The Slingshot is primarily a lightweight machine designed to carve corners well. Driving one around town or down the highway will be disappointing, but ripping it around the turns of a mountain road or a handling track is where it really starts to shine.
+Christopher Carter Just because it's at its best in those situations doesn't mean it's going to be spectacular compared to better vehicles in its class. Ultimately, this thing comes off as the entry-level "ultra-lightweight" trainer for people interested in eventually moving up to an Arial Atom, a Caterham S3 or a KTM X-Bow (or a BAC Mono if they're willing to spend absurd amounts of money on a car that won't even be delivered for two years and will more often than not be a lemon). If you want to get started right off the bat and don't have the money for something nicer, the base model is cheap enough to work as a starter. This does mean that the higher-end versions are irrelevant, though, since they cost about the same as a base-model Arial Atom which is pretty much superior in every way. Of course, if motorcycles are more your thing then you might as well not pay the slingshot any attention at all. It's classified as an autocycle but functionally it has more in common with the above mentioned ultra-lightweight cars than it does with a bike.

I feel the same way. I thought it was pretty cool and actually thought about going out and having a look. However, then i heard him say "it has a Chevy 4 cylinder" out of some failing sub compact car that GM started building a few years back that didn't do very well. That said, I think I'll forget about blowing $18-$20 grand on a seasonal "car" that is more than likely going to cost me a fortune in repairs 10 seconds after the warranty expires. In closing........ cool idea but a lot of bad choices on the build. -Doc

I don't know but either is isn't a recent one or it's customized because in the new one there are no windshield
We need more things like the T-Rex, not a huge thing with a car engine
Chin mounted cameras work on bikes.....
not in a car seat.
Makes no sense that this isn’t front wheel drive......or better yet, all wheel drive.....
with a LOT more power (optional).
so slow for what it is
True but you can turbo.
Christopher Carter
Elsewhere in another video I’ve seen, a turbo slr is faster although it does fishtail more.
+Christopher Carter
Just because it's at its best in those situations doesn't mean it's going to be spectacular compared to better vehicles in its class.
I love my 2017 SLR and it top out at 170 mph county sheriff clock me
You have never done 170MPH have you!

I am in The Netherlands BTW.
$20K is cheap now? Since when? Just get a Miata. Sorta lost me when you said it has a Chevy engine.
tbillyjoeroth miatas start at 32k and these have been going for 17k new for about 6 months now
I feel the same way. -Doc
Doc Hollywood chevy malibu is a failing sub compact car since when, the ecotec is one of the most used chevy motor in the past 10 yrs
mithereal bro try 20 years, my 99 Grand am had an ecotec engine. That engine had north of 280k miles when I sold it.
Compared to a $70K T-Rex.
Hey guys, nice vid. Id love to come out and see your shop and talk with you guys for a bit. You seem to have it all together out there. Keep it up. Ill be subscribing.
Now I want to go home and ride mine... unfortunately I'm in the process of installing a soundbar.
How would I cover it if I get caught in the rain
You can request a custom cover modification with high-rise wind deflectors. Basically turns it into a small car.
"dirt cheap" don't even have 50$ 😐
This.... is just a car though.
Really. Buy a convertible. Safer and makes more sense.
"What does that button do?" That might be the eject button LOL
Baird's Bikes Videos EJECTO SEATO CUZ!!!
It is a gauge mode change button. It changes to trips, or Range to Empty (which I leave it on to plan my trip), or mpg, etc.
its actually classified as a auto-cycle in some places
It's a stick shift. I didn't know that☹
Koenma Sir they now have automatics
Great Video Man !
Review a New One if U can !!
So it's only 4 speed.
2 tire drive would be so much better, it wouldn't cut loose as much
You mean "two-wheel drive"?
same than t-rex rewiev video no see anythink more than steering wheel.shit, who want looking rewiev only steering wheel. höh.
not every one can drive this for 2 reasons : 1) You need to know how to drive a "stick" ( 5 speed manual trans) 2) it hard for guys my size to get ion ( i am 6 FT 2 in 250 pounds )
101southsideboy I bought the SS when I was 280lbs and fit in fine enough. I'm 6' and now weigh 250 and I jump in rather easily
Needed a second camera mounted on the dash , terrible view man . Sorry but so distracting...
Yes your right we will do better next time
Srkcycles .... but I failed to mention your review was informative and well delivered.
Thank you !
I'm 16 i realllyy want one of these to cruise around my neighborhood in time to get a job!
Good luck avoiding potholes. Considered a motorcycle (so, helmet), no heater, no roof, I'll keep my second generation MX-5 thank you very much.
In NC you dont have to have a helmet or motorcycle endorsement
Eric Marois it’s not a car so why would it have a heater or a roof? If you want a car go buy one. We’re here to talk about a 3 wheeled auto cycle! Also I avoid pot holes all the time with mine all you have to have is common sense.... which you obviously don’t have any that’s why you compared it to an actual car!
