That is not a upside, your 4 year election cycle is horrible. At least in the UK or Canada, the parliamentary system allows a complete collapse of whichever party the people are sick of. The end of days crying by the tories would be the first sign. But in America its a 4 year election that never ends, only to have things flip from 49/51 to 51/49. If you had a parliamentary system in America, the GOP would have had the same issue as this coming Tory meltdown.

Our elections in US are so long because there is no official campaign period. Congress never gets dissolved like parliament does. It’s possible for elected people to still meet and pass bills any day up to Election Day. So members of congress and presidential candidates just begin campaigning whenever they want.

I'm genuinely baffled about why anyone is voting Conservative at this point. If you lean to the left of the party you have parties like the LibDems, and on the right parties like Reform. And that's obviously ignoring the standard switch to Labour which is standard in this "two-party system". What even is the point of the Tories right now?

The betting scandal would be over in 30 seconds if rishi simply revealed whether he'd told each of the election plan, before they placed their bet. This doesn't take a years long 'independent investigation' by the gambling commission, followed by an 'independent investigation' by the police. Just answer one question.

I suspect that the overriding vote in this election will be to obliterate the arrogant Tories, and a lot of tactical voting will make the result even worse for them than the polls suggest. Their campaign has been a complete shambles, and it not surprising that the country is also in a mess.

Guess what the crime is... Fraud. If these MP's do not get convicted will they expunge the convictions and release every person convicted of fraud from prison? It is somewhat ironic that Giles Watlin, who has apparently been a reasonable constituency MP, will be toppled by Farage when Watlin is a supporter of the Rwanda Plan fiasco against progressive equality legislation. However, he supports policies to enhance benefits for those unable to work.
Farage is all promise and bluster, and history shows us that his interest in actually supporting constituency issues is put on the back burner in favour of a photo opportunity.

Perhaps there is someone involved who is in a winnable seat so that is why he can't disown the current two who were in unwinable seats.

@01:30. Completely disagree. Sunak is having an excellent campaign, at least from my perspective. Looks like he is trying his best to lose. For that (and for calling the election) he should be applauded. Its a shame that it will not translate fairly into seat numbers, but the tories beloved FPTP system was always going to help them (as it "fixes" the results strongly in their favour).

Strange one in Scotland. Labour are predicted to win seats in which they are not standing candidates. The polling companies seem to have got something very wrong. Labour are not standing in 19 out of 57 seats, including all 6 Tory held seats.

Yup. It's looking like Starmer will do nothing and, then, make everyone angry, then, let Reform replace the Tories as the "establishment" party for full fascist Britain to exist in our lifetimes. Starmer winning could be the greatest gift British bigots could give themselves five years from now...
