I've been obsessed with the last 3 minutes of this song for months, the intricate bluegrass instrumental section reminiscent of a Between the Buried and Me section is nutsssss
Michael, thank you for highlighting Billy Strings. One of my favorite players ever. I am amazed that any guitarist doesn't just drop their instrument and give up when Billy plays.
About 8 minutes into it Billy teases Phishs Tweezer reprise that was epic and the smile on Treys face. Tha KS for this video! Happy Turkey day from the mitten.
This year for Thanksgiving I am thankful that Michael reacted to one of my react requests! 😁 Thank you Michael! I enjoyed watching your reaction to this video and as always thanks for breaking down the basic song structure and giving some playing tips. I'm going to try to add that little banjo run technique to my arsenal. Cheers! 🍺
I've been meaning to listen to this and so happy to see your take on Billy with his metal grass. TAB just lays it down so smooth in the jams. love it all.gobble gobble
Oh Michael it was so good seeing you! Wish I was in more of a mind to hang around and chat longer... Show atmospheres tend to bring up a lot of things in me, emotional, psychological and otherwise. Lost in the sauce one minute and united with the flow the next. Regardless, holy moly man, what a surreal and spectacular night!
Tweezer tease in there for sure towards the end of the jam. Michael you are the man keep up the great work. I was in DC this night and couldn’t make it. Kicking myself now!! Cheers!
As a DC resident, this weekend was a treat. A historic show Thursday, Billy absolutely destroying Friday and Saturday. Then the little cherry on top was the after party Saturday, with Dopapod ft. P funk members, Pigeons members, and even Billy showing up for the Encore. Billy was a busy man around the DMV, hope it treated him well, cause gawd damn did he treat us.
Well can't wait to next Wednesday November 30 where I will go to the Billy strings gig here in Copenhagen Denmark, just 3 weeks ago I was seeing Jason isbell and hoping this will just as great a time
What a great jam and great video. I never heard "Chromatic filth" before, but that's the term I will use from now on. Chromatic filth is what improved my solos flavors more than any other one thing other than raw practice.
This is so sweet! TAB and TTB are two bands of musicians to be reckoned with. I just learned that the great Danny Kalb of The Blues Project passed recently. RIP to a great musician. BP are a band worth checking out esp. Live at the Cafe AuGoGo.
I just recently started listening to Trey Anastasio band and Goose and I’ve been playing guitar since I was 13 and i’m 34 now, what awesome music! and great video as always! I am signed up for the giveaway
Michael is the quintessential “Chord progression/solo scale breakdowner”. Just when I think, “how’s he going to disassemble this song?” And then, bam, nails it!
Excited for this! You may want to check out J.P. Cormier who is a wicked bluegrass/celtic musician, influenced by Chet Atkins. One of his smokin' tunes is "Blue Angel"
@ Host in your TH-cam settings look for the feature called dark mode click the button and it will save your eyes from the brightness of the white background.
Not sure if there is a good up-close video but Trey played with and the band on the roof of some place in NYC. It was awesome the whole show. They did Billy songs and Phish songs. Unfortunately, I couldn't go but my boyfriend went and had an amazing time. I do know there is some really good videos from Halloween that Billy switched out his acoustic for his electric and did a few covers, of course not all of them (Ramble On, War Pigs, Fire, Evermore, Nights in White Satin). Oh, and the theme was Lord of the Rings. Wild time. I recommend going to a Halloween show at least once, extremely fun.
Michael! Did you catch the Tweezer Reprise tease coming out of the solo by Billy? I think he even got a smile out of Trey. I fucking love these guys! Thanks for doing this - even filthier you were there live!
Just saw Molly and Golden Highway (free show!) here in Alabama and if you get a chance, do NOT miss her! Stellar band and Molly delivers as always! Check out the Molly and Sierra Hull stuff together if you haven't already.
Healing Appalachia is Sept 22-24. You absolutely need to go! Tyler Childers Govt Mule Unphries McGee Marcy’s king. We’ll look it up! It’s gonna be outstanding! 1:52
Oh my friend, my friend, you HAVE to do a reaction video on the live rendition of John Hardy with Tony Rice,Sam Bush,Jerry Douglas, Mark O'Connor, and John Cowan.....bluegrass perfection.....
Michael! I don't know how often you take suggestions from comments but you should definitely check out anything from Toshiki Soejima. Some really sick and groovy neo soul guitar mixes to review.
Have you ever reacted to Joscho Stephan? He's amazing. On a par with Billy Strings, Tommy Emmanuel, you name it. Does a version of Hey Joe that's great.
Maybe unpopular opinion... What Goose does is fairly formulaic and often sounds like your run of the mill EDM show. Yes, they're extremely talented musicians, awesome on stage chemistry and back and forth jazz-like play you get from most of your jam band type units, but man does it get old live. You have the build up, and the light show speeds up with the guitars and then they do the "drop" into a funky quirky groove that repeats ad nauseum. Fun, but not groundbreaking stuff by any means. Billy on the other hand does so much more than is usually done with a fairly formulaic genre such as bluegrass. I rarely get bored with his playing.
Billy freaking masters the transitions......so seamless and cool in and out of the "experimental" stuff.....just magic.

You’re on it.
Was at this show. Truly an incredible experience. So fortunate to have been there.
Michael, thank you for highlighting Billy Strings. One of my favorite players ever. I am amazed that any guitarist doesn't just drop their instrument and give up when Billy plays.
Billy just makes me want to be a better player. He has me playing every day again.
BMFS!!
About 8 minutes into it Billy teases Phishs Tweezer reprise that was epic and the smile on Treys face. Tha KS for this video! Happy Turkey day from the mitten.

Dude…that clip was 🔥🔥🔥👍
Did you see any videos from Trey playing with Billy and his band in NYC on the roof?
He didn't react to mine, but because he reacted to this I ain't the least bit worried!
@@stacyvanvranken5934 no I haven't but I'm going to check them out, thanks!
@@guitarkyle it’s epic. Two best Back on the Train’s of the year, this show and NYC!
Saw Billy Strings in Washington DC, and he brought the roof down. That was awesome
Dude, your enthusiasm is infectious. Hell of a track. Billy kicked major ass in DC
My favorite Billy Strings song, yay!
I've been meaning to listen to this and so happy to see your take on Billy with his metal grass. TAB just lays it down so smooth in the jams. love it all.gobble gobble

I saw Goose live for the first time in Portland, and it was a special night. So great to see them all playing together and having fun.
Billy Strings is insane🤘
Came to listen to this song for about the 50th time. Mike was reacting to it. Even better!
Billy is really killin it, love seeing him getting all the praise
Have you reacted to Billy and the legendary Del McCoury yet? If you haven't definitely do! Their combo on "Can't You Hear Me Calling" is phenomenal!
OMG! What a tune, what a performance, and what a great analysis! Love it to see and hear you with an acoustic!!!!
Thanks for making me appreciate Billy,Trey and Phish,Mr.Palmisano!
Great to meet you at the show! Thanks for taking the time to say what’s up !!
I'm glad the crowd pops at the beginning and then again during the final chorus came through. Special moment to experience live.
This was imo Billy's most impactful and fun feature

Live Phish just knows how to do it. Trey playing a Trainwreck after all these years makes me want one even more.
Great meeting you and your wife at the show. Keep Running that dog son! Also appreciate the shout out. Catching lunkers in people’s faces!
Great breakdown! Always love the musicality of Billy. The boy is 🔥

Would love to see reactions from some more recent Billy Strings!

This was a magical nite TaBoose…I love how you got into Trey…
Was there and it was truly magical!
Billy is unfairly talented and impossibly charismatic when he takes the stage! The Ricky Skaggs licks are strong with that one!!!!
Did you see the 2 ish hour video of Billy and his dad Terry? They just jam and sing. Just INCREDIBLE
The wife's little interruption was priceless 😂🤷🏻 reminds me of every time I push record!!!

Have you seen the footage from Derek & Susan of Walk On Guilted Splinters? It was crazy Live
One of my fav songs

Love trying to practice guitar watching this channel. It’s way way over my head but that’s alright. I need it. 😊
Love the Tweeprise tease in there!
It was awesome and we’ve all been waiting or it.

Susan Tedeschi plays a great solo on "I walk on guilded splinters". TTB plays a great arrangement as always.
This was awesome!
Great video. I was getting some Dave Matthews Band vibes during that jam!
Reminded me of Allman Bros Mountain Jam, love them both!
Billy is the Doc Watson of our age.
“Chromatic Filth” would be a killer band name! 😂
Scored tickets to RR 2023 Billy. Who's coming with me!?
saw show...killer
the bone player in Trey's band is Natalie Cresman. She's awesome. Check out her own stuff one day
Michael! Did you catch the Tweezer Reprise tease coming out of the solo by Billy? I think he even got a smile out of Trey. I fucking love these guys! Thanks for doing this - even filthier you were there live!
Noooo!
I can’t find it. Do you know what time In this video?
20:20
20:36 it’s game on
Love to see u react to Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle live. 2 great pickers trading licks!
Just saw Molly and Golden Highway (free show!) here in Alabama and if you get a chance, do NOT miss her! Stellar band and Molly delivers as always! Check out the Molly and Sierra Hull stuff together if you haven't already.
You and Marcel should collab. Find a Billy tune with lots of crosspicking, the pick direction stuff will blow your mind.

Cool show!😊

Billy runs his acoustic via a DI straight to the house.
Ah hah hah😂
dude... i was there. it was bonkers.
MEET ME AT THE CREEK TREY!
Nice guitar and nice video, I registered :)
Love it!
Got a review suggestion. You won't be disappointed. :)
Arch Echo - "Leonessa"
man I really have to start using my Guitargate subscription so I can actually understand this shit❤
Have you ever reacted to Joscho Stephan? He's amazing. On a par with Billy Strings, Tommy Emmanuel, you name it. Does a version of Hey Joe that's great.
Did you ever try the BG42 by Boucher?
Billy is also using some sort of drop D tuning
"Chromatic filth" ... love that
How do i apply to the giveaway i dont see it?

Kent nishimura - man in the mirror please!!! anything by him. I assure you it's worth it
But did he do the dishwasher
Oooooh, what model is that PRS acoustic?
I need my dishes done, too, bro.
Wow you did Trey and didn't complain about Phish.
Never heard them before, but this makes me want to pick up my guitar. Been far too long. Keep up the good work sir!
The Mars Volta - L'Via L'Viaquez
Bro, you better start the dishwasher.
you missed the epic Tweez tease! but great review nonethless!
Yeah I was waiting to hear what he had to say about it. It was basically Tweeprise there for a second. So awesome.
Hey Joe Falco do play this riff with his toes
Shame you missed Strings in DC. Both nights were heat
Tweezer Reprise 20:17
What tweezer song?
I thought exactly the same.
@@bgfb77 the one Goose wrote that Phish covers
Its part of the song, listen to BS play it with his band. I hear you though, sounds like it.
@@matthewnewman1446 yeah agree, but Billy is totally ripping the tweeprise riff
Michael its time for you to react to The Mars Volta
You should do hide and seek from the anthem November 19th 👍 maybe the best version of that song!
