The reason why YOU get so many recurring questions about cream shadow application is because YOU are the only YTber that even gives cream eyeshadows a side glance.

Found this video months later. I really enjoyed the advice being given here. The things I have learned with makeup and eye makeup specifically: practice makes perfect; definitely take time to tweak certain things like placement of crease color / blending color higher or lower on the crease depending on your eye shape and how you want your eyes to look; if you doing your own makeup for an event make sure you give yourself plenty of time and do your eyes first and then your face; less is more!

I love cream eyeshadows. They are the eyeshadow product I use 90% of the time. What works for me is using my fingers for initial application (spreading the product across my eyelids), and then go in with a small brush after for blending. I use the Revlon Colourstay Cream Eyeshadows as I only buy drugstore products.

I swear by cream eye shadow (charlotte tilbury eyes to mesmerize in star gold) GORGEOUS and easy. I pat it down on my lid and blend it quickly into the crease with my finger. I add bronzer into the crease to help make the transition smoother. I personally think cream is amazing.

The ByTerry ombre sticks have a great formula also, awesome on mature eyes, though they are pricey ... I am 50 with hooded and wrinkly lids, and just got a couple of these .... I can actually wear the shimmer without it aging my eyes because they are not super shimmery like powders and don't settle into lines, just love them! Worth the money, in my opinion. I like to mix them with the LM caviar sticks, my combos....
      -> LM "Fog" as a base with BT "Mercure" on top of it;
-> LM "Khaki" with BT "Mercure"
-> LM "Cashmere" with BT "Frozen Quartz"
-> BT "Bronze Moon" on its own is gorgeous.

I love your channel. For me, you are up there with Wayne Goss, Lisa Eldridge and Alexandra Anele. These are extremely helpful tips - thank you. The only problem with Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown and CT products are that they aren't cruelty free. I'm really trying to avoid cosmetic products that aren't cruelty free. I bought some of the Kiko Milano - who, BTW, have awesome customer service - and one of the e.l.f. ones...so, still experimenting and will try more of your tips. I read in one of your comments that you are going to do a video of the e.l.f. sticks? Also, I have lips like yours, and it's so refreshing to see a YT who hasn't gone the road of lip fillers. It's very helpful!

So I’ve recently started using creams. They are a real time saver. And they look amazing. The only issue I have is that there are barely any good palettes out there. So I’m building my setup from scratch. It’s costly but it saves me time and that’s what I love the most!! ✨✨

Love me some cream products and have had my eye on the caviar sticks for a while, but can’t settle on a combo to try (even though I watched your combos video). Also, I’m wondering if they would wear well on me because I struggle with creasing and my lids tend to “eat” shadows. I think the trick is to build up in nice thin layers as you say. The matte one's are a bit boring to me but nice tip on adding the sparkle shadoe on top.

Thank for this valuable video. I think I've been using the wrong brush. I got a 2 pack of the caviar sticks for Christmas 🎄 I love them, but don't have your technique down yet. I'll keep trying 😂

Love your videos and I have been watching casual for many years! I love cream shadows. I mostly use the Tilbury one but I want to try more.
You really look like Mandy Moore here. I am sure you get that a lot lol.

Hi Shelby. You introduced me to the caviar sticks and I love the ease of application. However I have mature hooded eyes. My question is how far to take the transition shade or crease color up the lid? I find that when I do, it looks too shimmery and emphasizes the texture, making my lids look crepey. (I use the original colors not the Amplified) I watched the video you did with your mom a while back and I noticed you didn’t really put anything on her upper lid to make her hoods recede. Am I wrong? When I put all the color on the moveable lids, my eyes look more deep set. I have to add powder on the hood but would prefer not to. Help! Would love to see you do more videos with your mom, with the close up angles you use on yourself. Because everything looks great on you but for us mature ladies, the struggle is real!

I would suggest a really small amount of something like Caramel in the crease if you want to bring a shade up further. I think it's totally fine to define your crease but probably most flattering with a completely matte color.

Thanks for the video Shelby - you give some great tips! I watched the video on your favourite caviar stick combinations and bought the cobblestone and sanglow as loved the look. I'm disappointed with the sandglow colour though as it looks nothing like it does on your eyes. On me it looks a dull flat colour (just disappears) with no sheen. On you it looks a different colour and gives a lovely shine which stands out. I've followed your application technique and tried with and without primer. Any ideas why this would be? Thanks

The Mally shadow sticks are pretty amazing. I love this tutorial. Ty. It helped me. I cannot wear any powder shadow. Every kind/brand from high-end to lower end for 20 years causes my lids to run, burn then the shadow is patchy. Creams do not do that.

Bobbi brown often have them sold as minis in sets of 3. Great way to get a lot of colors for an affordable price because they sell the set for the price of a full size.

I bought my first Caviar Stick today! I bought Cobblestone, because I knew it would be a safe choice since Ulta isn't allowing testers at this time. I'm wondering whether you tried the eyeshadow sticks by The Balm? I picked up one a local cosmetic shopquite a while ago. I believe the shade is Batter Up (they have baseball names) - a pearlescent purple, not full on shimmer. I find the blendability to be quite good, all day wear, and they don't dry out in the tube like my two Stila did. Mid range price.

I know I'm a few months late on this, but I'm hoping you can answer the question: Do you use an eyeshadow primer with the caviar sticks? If not, how long do they stay creaseless? Do you have oily/normal/dry lids? Thanks!! Very helpful video ❤️

Do you clean your brush between colors? Or something like one for dark and one for light? What brush is the light colored brush you used to apply the light colors?
Also, what products do you use under them if any? A moisturizer? If so, which one?

I have a vision impairment that makes applying make up a challenge. Hard to know what it looks like when you can’t see it well.
I’m hopeful the cream eye shadow application will be easier to see and apply. It’s a struggle to do anything eye makeup related but I’m looking forward to the challenge of doing better with these products. Thanks Shellbey!
