    I've been using these since they first came out, great tool to keep close by. I used the window punch once in training and it worked well. Scratched the handle all up but still functional. My wife is an ER nurse and carries a pair with her also. She's used the ring cutter multiple times on soft metal rings and its worked like a champ. If you're a First Responder, you can register with Leatherman for their Leatherman Pro discount and get these things for 40 bucks. Well worth it.

      I work emergancy care in the U.K. I was very excited to receive these as i had heard very good things about them. On receiving them I was initially very happy with them but I have started to notice that they cannot cut thin items such as T-shirts. They work wonderfully on thicker items such as trousers/leathers but cannot cut shirts. This really limits there use for me. I have also noticed that the blades are getting quite loose which might become a problem sometime in the future, will be messaging the seller about this. I don’t think they work as an all round pair of shears, I have had to start carrying a pair of disposable shears that I find to be much sharper. I think these shears have great potential, albeit a bit overpriced. The issues I’ve faced could be isolated so make your decision based on the other reviews available. I have contacted leatherman and will update my review when I get a response. amzn.to/3C4Sqhe

    I have a few pairs of these scissors. Love them, amazing product. Used in mass casualty decontamination lines to cut people out of clothing, JSLIST, etc. The hook worked very well and was a reliable tool to have at your side. Did use the ring cutter on many casualties in Iraq. Used on various metal rings and never had any issues with them not working. Great tip with the loctite by the way.
    If you are a combat medic, CLS, CBRN, firefighter, first responded, law enforcement, or etc, I highly recommend you have having a set of Raptor Trauma Shears in your kit.

    Just saw this video after getting a pair of Leatherman Raptors, one for me and one for a fellow responder. I can tell you how the window punch works since I used it when I went through auto extrication training. I had to hit the car side window from the outside twice to shatter the window. What a lot of guys love using for busting car windows is a spring punch. Those are hilariously easy to use but I love having this in a pinch if I cant find those. The wide handle makes it pretty easy to get a grip on the tool when using fireman's gloves.

    I've used these a bunch, but don't actually own any. However, I work in the hospital setting. These are the first set of shears to wander off if left sitting out or if loaned to the wrong person so keep a second "loaner" set on hand definitely.

    Ring cutter works great.
    Used it several times on gold, silver and steel rings and it now only cuts through them easily, it doesn't even take a lot of strength to cut through so it's usable even if you're not a bear trapped in a man's body.

      We prefer the phrase 'discretely ursine physique'....
      Jk, but it's amazing how much easier a good tool can make any given task , and I'm sure it's saved some stress if not digits by having one which works so well for cutting rings etc.

    Thanks for the Review. Your recommendation has pushed me to give Raptors to my two nieces, one a PA and the other just finishing her nursing degree. But I've opted for the XShears for myself, really sturdy shears for a price Range of $33 to $37, but I'm not a professional EMS guy, just trying to put together kits for myself & some family & friends. My EDC is a SOG multitool w a double hinge arrangement that doubles the power of the plier/cutter, and I've used that for hundreds of tasks over the last few years. I'm afraid I would lose the Raptor! The ring-cutter is the only item I don't otherwise have in all my kits. Those Star-sockets have been around for a decade or more, but if you don't have the tool, you're SCROOD.

    What kind of material is one the finger loops? Just hight temp polymer? Does it offer any friction?

  • @brandonnorton1018

    I am considering purchasing the Raptors for myself and submitting a purchase order for my CERT team members. I would guess that the security screw with the tip in the middle is so that offenders and/or people in peril would have a heck of time undoing the tool as to use it against you. I've heard nothing but good things about this product!

    They're actually called "tamper-proof" torx, and they're commonly used in the automotive industry as well. Not unusual to find them on ignition system components for anti-theft purposes. Not sure why they would be used on a tool like this, though. If I had to guess, it would probably be to prevent disassembly, though tamper proof torx tools are readily available on the market. Odd choice of fastener for the application, for sure.

    If you happen to carry a Leatherman with a bit extender. You can pick up a security bit set at about any hardware or automotive stores.
    If you really want to have fun, trying tightening the screws on one of the older Leathermans or the ones that use what they call the parse bits. The only place you can get the wrenches is from a fellow on EBAY out of Russia...

    *They look neat but I would be too afraid to lose them.I rather use my $2 pair that I can throw away if they are too dirty or not sharp anymore.*
    *I also already have a glass breaker and seatbelt cutter on my keychain, and don't need a wrench to open O2 tanks.*
    *Those shears are more like $95 in Europe, not $70 ... so you don't see many folks with those in EMS.*
    *Any chance we could get an full ambulance tour in a future video?*

    • @JoeDurobot
      @JoeDurobot 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      *A stethoscope is a bit different since it's more personal, and it's easier to make sure it's clean if it's your own and you don't share it with other crews.*
      *It's less of a concern with the issued shears that stay in the ambulance.*
      *Some stethoscopes can also run around $90, I wouldn't run the risk of losing mine or leaving it behind if im not always riding in the same ambulance everyday.*

      They're designed with first responders in mind, but honestly they're basically tactical scissors. I'm buying a couple pairs to use for whatever, they're pretty sharp, so they cut through the plastic blister packs that stuff comes in, clothing, thin gauge metal and wire.

      @@waterfall3 I would... But I don't care if you like me I want these guys to like me because being known as the big dude who gives new toys to police and EMS earns you favoritism which is good because I'm the legal guardian of teenage boys you get where I'm going with this
      But ya I do a lot more than just these donations, free meals, paying for new tires I invite off duty officers to practice shooting at a hunk of land I've set up for me and friends which is way better than the one they're supposed to use on duty I'm just happy I have the resources to do so

    It’s not a “multi tool”. It gets loose and is made to take a apart easier to clean blood out

    • @PrepMedic
      @PrepMedic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is still a multi tool, it has scissors, measuring tape, seatbelt cutter, window punch, and O2 wrench. If they wanted it to be easy to take apart they wouldn't have used that type of hex key.
