Horatio Spafford was the lyricist for this song. Writing on the deck of the ship to pick up his wife who lost 4 chlidren to death because the ship sank. He must have cried and prayed to GOD. Tears that on paper and give thanks. Thanks GOD and see you in Heaven Horatio's Family and The Gracias Choir.

Just a little more on his story; He had been wealthy, but had recently lost his home and business in the Great Chicago Fire.He sent his wife and daughters ahead to England to start over when his daughters were lost in a storm. His wife telegraphed him a messager "Survived. Alone". When he sailed to England shortly after to join her, the captain of the ship he was on stopped where the tragedy had taken place for him to mourn.

It is such a beautiful piece and so wonderful to see people standing still as we do in England when singing with no fully moving around - no distractions from the lovely singing and music. Well done on the English too and greetings from the UK to Korea where my son h ad a lovely holiday (in the South obviously) recently.
