    That was absolutely brilliant. I can remember playing with the carburettors Grandad had. The tickler does indeed make the petrol laugh. And anyway, its not a carburettor, its a motorbike-burettor. It was great to watch that intro and remember how much fun we had making it!

    I'm only here thanks to our mate Kev(Mr F).
    Being a long retired employee of a British bike spares shop this brings back memories. Two things come to mind, first the little dot on the float chamber cover is supposed to show the fuel level but as you cant adjust or even see it it is probably just one of those newbie teasers like tartan paint and left handed screwdrivers. The second is to only use the right thickness fibre washers and don't put one where there isn't meant to be one. You can upset the relative position of jets and needles with wrong washers.
    Oh and there is a plug that screws in where the choke cable goes, whether your carb a thread or not will decide. There are different tops, some with threads for cable adjusters and some with plain holes for when there are adjusters in the cables. Given time i could probably remember the cable numbers for the different types but after 25 years out of the game the memory is a little slow.

    Another great vid Dean............A couple of things to check if you haven't already, is drop a straight edge across the mounting flange as they have a tendency to warp this face. The other one is when you re-assemble the carb, leave the side cover off the bowl and the tickler screwed in half way. Invert the carb so the float fully seats the needle. Holding the carby inverted, screw the tickler all the way in and see if it touches the float. If it does touch the float ensure you put a fibre washer under tickler to ensure it doesn't hold the needle off seat when the float bowl is full. Generally that carby looked in really good condition.............Can't wait for the engine run!

    Hi! I´m at the same stage now as you were then. Got a question. Should the pilot jet have a hole from the tip towards the two holes on the sides? Friendly greets from Austria.

      Hi Nik, hope you are well. The pilot jet should have a hole in the tapered base, as well as the two holes on the side. I hope this answers your question.
