Great job Gabby! ❤ My grandmother would make “depression era” salad dressing as she called it with mayo, a splash of vinegar, and a pinch of sugar but I bet you could substitute lime juice for the vinegar.
I still make this dressing. I grew up on it... Iceberg lettuce and chopped garden fresh tomatoes with this dressing and crumbled bacon on top. My favorite summer lunch growing up.
HI Gabby, thanks for taking the time to share your ideas with us. About boiling the eggs I put my eggs in pot covered with cold water and bring to a boil, then cover and turn off the heat and let set covered for 10 minutes , cool down with cold water. they come out perfect for me.
Thank you so much for all you time shopping prepping and cooking these meals! I’ve recently moved and am looking for a job … I have to be so careful with money as I haven’t found a job yet. Your channel has been a Godsend! And I love your positive attitude!! 😍
Lots of people get paid every 2 weeks or twice a month or monthly. If you could do shopping trips to cover that much time, that would allow purchasing larger amounts at cheaper prices aka unit pricing. The minute the egg boils, turn the heat off, cover and let them sit 10 minutes and then peel eggs under running water as it is much easier to do than on the counter. Crumble the shells and throw them in the garden for fertilizer. Recycle the 12 count egg carton to make a mancala game for the kids or use as a seed starter or a hundred other uses. When you get down to the lentil liquid with no more lentils, heat it to thicken much like refried beans and spread it onto a tortilla or use as a bean dip or in a soup. Zest all citrus fruits before cutting them. Let the zest dry naturally on a saucer on the counter. Store in recycled spice jar to use in smoothies, baking, soups and stir fries. This is free zest. When peeling a carrot, peel the fat end first so the skinny end has a wee bit more to hold steady. If you peel the carrot at the skinny end first, it is more limp in your hand. Microwave potatoes. When they cool, the skin comes right off in your fingers and it leaves more potato intact rather than wasted using a peeler. Tuna is not always the best buy. Half the can may be liquid so you're really paying twice as much for the meat. If you have a pet, drain the liquid into a bowl and add a little water to thin out the sodium. Never drain anything down the sink before thinking how to use it. Start peeling the leaves off the lettuce as far as you can to make it last longer before having to cut into it. Once it is cut, it will start to brown. If the lettuce starts to go bad, chop it and add to a soup, Asian wrap instead of cabbage or a stir fry. Run the core through the food processor as it is edible. Buy a cheap loaf of sandwich bread rather than burger buns. You get 12 sandwiches for $1 vs. only 8 buns for $1.46. Freeze the carrot and potato cooking liquid as a start for veg broth but yes, this will be a weak broth so will probably need flavorful ingredients or bouillon seasoning or as is in cooking pasta and rice. For a true veg broth, continue to drain canned veg liquids into a large recycled freezer container for "free" veg broth and you'll probably never have to buy it. It is nutritious to use for the water in rice and pasta. Any time you rehydrate vegs, save that water, too. Liquid from meats such as boiled Polish sausage links is wonderful used as the water in rice. Canned green pea liquid - drain 1 can into the large container because that can over power the taste so freeze it in a separate container and use in making split pea soup. Sauerkraut liquid can be used to cook brats or since it is mainly vinegar so use it with baking soda to clean the drain. Beets also needs to be frozen separate because they'll turn everything red but it can be used in baking or add more beets to the liquid to make borsch soup. Bottom line, think how food can be stretched. Waste not, want no.
Hi Gabby, I enjoy your company and recipes. If you put your eggs in cold water it helps. Then roll on your counter to break shell into many pieces then peel under running water or for filming put cold water in you pan and use it to peel in/ under. I hope it helps. 💕🙏🏼
Hi Gaby!!! I liked your recipes for today. I really want to make the patties. I need to buy a bag of Lentils. Thanks for that recipe. Your Salad looks good also...YUMS!!! Thanks for these. It will sure save us some money. Take Care and GOD Bless...Nice Video!!!...🦋
You always have great recipes. I love to see you budget cook with 25.00 dollars some time. Keep these coming just add one budget recipe can sure help the bottom line.
Love the video, to help with peeling your eggs add a little bit of vinegar to the cooking water and then rinse the eggs with cold water once they are done cooking.
Great ideas, I’m going to watch your lentil burger video again, that’s impressive. I was wondering why you only used egg whites in the salad without the yolks? Is it for taste or to keep the yolks for another meal?
Freeze the veggies scraps. Chicken bones. Ham bones. In separate bags lol. Use to make "stock" for soup or in beans/lentils, instead of plain water in mashed taters or rice.
Steam your eggs in the shell for 14 minutes. Then take them out and put them in a small bowl of water ....I add some ice cubes and i hit them with a spoon to crack the shells a bit while they cool. Then I crack them and roll them on the counter to easily peel them.
I am a new subscriber to your channel and you are cooking with lentils which I just bought a box last week and I have never cooked lentils. How do you cook them and for how long
Here in Washington state at my 2 main shopping places eggs are $7.59 a dozen and $8.00 for 18. Not just avian flu but I believe state law changed to only sell/produce “cage free” egg in the state
I bought TWO dozen “medium size” eggs for $7 last week in Nevada. If I’d bought large eggs they were $7.50 a dozen. I know medium are smaller but I felt that I got a good deal. Used half of them to make sausage, egg and cheese in English muffins for the freezer. The medium size eggs worked fine.

Yes My mom as well.
I still make this dressing. I grew up on it... Iceberg lettuce and chopped garden fresh tomatoes with this dressing and crumbled bacon on top. My favorite summer lunch growing up.
@@laurasloate2241 love that you are carrying it on!
I enjoy lentils in so many ways. Great ideas.
Hi Gaby, fantastic ideas. You could also make a soup with left over lentils, carrots and potato.

Ann.....
Smoked paprika or liquid smoke would be good on the burgers. 🍔
Love your extremely creative recipes. Love the way you mention things we can add to take it to another level if we have somethings in our pantry. :)
What did you do with the yolks? The most yummy part!

What happened to the egg yolks from the eggs you boiled and peeled?
You always have great recipes. I love to see you budget cook with 25.00 dollars some time. Keep these coming just add one budget recipe can sure help the bottom line.

I would use the leftover hamburger buns and eggs for breakfast sandwiches 😊
Great ways to use Lentils! Thanks! I've never cooked with lentils. What a great way to stretch a meal and budget 💝
Yum 😋. Love how you take the healthy, cheap food and turn it into delicious meals!
Why didn’t you add the yoke on the salad?
You are inspirational especially with those lentils

Is always a joey looking at your videos, So much knowledge. Saludos
Delicious!
I spent a week making lentals 5 different ways from one pot of plain. It was so fun. We are all looking for new ways.
Great video! Those burgers look yummy!
Freeze the veggies scraps. Chicken bones. Ham bones. In separate bags lol. Use to make "stock" for soup or in beans/lentils, instead of plain water in mashed taters or rice.
Produce not in a package are called "loose", so they would be called "loose carrots".
You did great,I always go by budget, thanks for for sharing ❤😊
I have never tried lentils but I am going to another great video
I wash taters and the peels i air fry w salt and pepper for chips
Steam your eggs in the shell for 14 minutes. Then take them out and put them in a small bowl of water ....I add some ice cubes and i hit them with a spoon to crack the shells a bit while they cool. Then I crack them and roll them on the counter to easily peel them.
Thanks. I’ll try your patties out.
You could also make egg salad sandwiches.
I wonder if you could use a little bit of mayo mixed with the lime and some pepper and make a dressing for your salad
We are stocked up and cooking off stock pile for months ❤😊
Any ideas to use up split peas in different, not soup, ways to
I am a new subscriber to your channel and you are cooking with lentils which I just bought a box last week and I have never cooked lentils. How do you cook them and for how long
Where did you find eggs that cheap?
Walmart is where her receipt was from
@wsyl59 I thought she said she bought the eggs and carrots somewhere else?

They don't sell carrots individually, or they don't sell individual carrots. Love your vids. 💓
You should save your potato peels for a roasted or fried snack.
Run under cool water as you peal
Individual carrots.
I like your recipes but I hate lentils.
A $10(ish) egg cooker from WalMart and eggs peel soooo easy.
