    I keep dried fruit in the house and add them to the water of the oatmeal. They soften as the water comes to a boil then I add in my oatmeal and butter. It makes for a hearty and fruity breakfast. I found some on sale and mixed the different fruits in a large container.

    I’m so happy to hear that somebody else doesn’t find oatmeal very filling. Everyone I talk to says that it sticks to your ribs and it leaves them full for hours and that is just not the case with me. I never thought about turning oatmeal into something else, though, so thank you for the recipe. I hope you’re feeling better.

    I agree with you about the aesthetic. Just for show and looks. It kind of reminds me of the birthday candle blossom. You light the fuse and it kind of suddenly springs open like a fiery flower. Most people get really startled lol. But about the boiling tea. I think the people who think it okay think the only way to drink tea is sweetened or from a fountain machine and don't really get it like you and I do. I love oolong and that's a halfway point between green and black. And no that's not white tea. And you can't over temp the water or the bitter flavor is overpowering. Tannins come out of black tea at high temps too making it unpleasant. Jasmine is another light tea that doesn't do well with high temps. I would always forget my kettle and it would come to a boil so I'd have to let it cool. I wish I could have one of those hot water dispensers that are settable to a fixed temp. But they're like for rich people. It's at least 5x a regular kettle like you and I have.

    Hello from Vancouver :) watching this while drinking nettle tea.

    I have a book idea, I may have already suggested it, but Nala’s world about a guy who happens to rescue a cat out in the middle of nowhere in Bosnia while he’s riding his bicycle around the world and how she, the kitten, stole his heart. It’s all about that and their adventures! His first name is Dean but I have forgotten his last name. He is also on you tube and donates to animal shelters around the world. He still travels as well. The cat is amazing as she is fully adapted to travel. She actually has a fan base and they run into them all over the world!!

    I too love my electric kettle and use it daily. I use it to make instant coffee, tea, ramen noodles, instant oatmeal - can't live without it! I even just like to drink hot water whenever it's chilly out. I also don't find oatmeal by itself very filling. I do eat it often for breakfast, but I always add a LOT to it. I add fresh fruit, maple syrup, nuts, and granola in some combination. Sometimes even peanut or almond butter. I will have to try some of those Harney teas! They look so good. Thanks for another great video!

    If you take any of the ingredients that come after the maple soy sesame seed sauce and put it into the ramekin you used to mix it will help get the rest of the sauce out by soaking itself. This works with honey and other things that you lose to the vessel

    I love harney and sons tea. I’m not a big fan of cinnamon but their hot cinnamon is wonderful. And it does not even need sugar. I also love their Ceylon and India orange pekoe. Their London Fog tea is excellent. I love their African Autumn rooibos as well. When it comes to tea, black and herbal teas can handle being immersed in boiling water. But green and white teas can become bitter if exposed to boiling water. Better to put green tea in water after the boiling water has been in the cup for a bit. I have a hot water pot that I turn the temperature down a smidge that lets me pour water over the green. But still ok for the black or herbal teas. One nice thing about harney and sons is you can order a bag of teabags to refill the tins of their most popular teas like the hot cinnamon. Thanks for your inspiration even though you’ve been sick. Take your time and rest up. Drink lots of tea. 🫖 ☕️ 😊

      @ArdentMichelle I'm not into tea that much because most of them don't taste like anything to me, and the tannins in a lot of twigs and barks will set off my stomach. But there is an HT tea, I can'tremember if it's the cinnamon or if it was a pumpkin spice that I absolutely loved. But I can't believe you got them for $5! Hello Michelle 💜. Thanks for a relaxing and informative video. TEA I was a collector and belonged to a club and purchased some lovely tea the company through the owner of the club sold. One thing I learned is steeping time makes a world of difference and I use the timer I purchased all the time. Observing water temp can make a slight difference. The electric tea kettle is a marvelous thing. I use mine at least once a day. I use it to boil water for pasta too. Love the TINS. I love tea that comes in tins just for the tins sometimes 😆. I purchased some nice tea balls and cups that came with a diffusers. Loose tea is a wonderful thing too. BUDET idea. Keep in mind most portions of loose and bagged teas can very often get two steeps. I have more to say ya know. I was born with a gift of gab. You made me hungry too and I need to go food shopping. I hope I am all caught up with your videos. I hate being late to see them on Sundays lately 🩵 I have a new schedule. I am a night owl 🦉 and being a day person is an adjustment. I love all seasons too though Winter can be a challenge 🥶 ⛄️

    Thanks for the cabbage recipe! I just made an entire recipe of Korean cabbage pancakes and had a giant one for breakfast. They were so good. I used half of a really big cabbage, chopped up with some scallions that we’re on the last legs and Two eggs in about half a cup of flour and a quarter of a cup of cornstarch it made at least four servings Now stacked in the refrigerator. I think I’m in my cabbage era because I’m just sick of broccoli. The other half of that giant cabbage made Parmesan cabbage steaks and they were delicious too!

    Great video Michelle! I agree about oatmeal, I don’t find it super filling by itself. However, if I put a pat of butter (I’m not shy with the butter, I’d say it’s a 1/2 tablespoon pat) and chopped walnuts or pecans on top with some brown sugar it helps make it more filling. Also, I add either banana or apple. If I have time, I sauté small dice apple in the butter and brown sugar. If anybody needs tips on how to make a healthy food much more fattening, follow me! 😂 Have a great week!

    I am glad you are well again. I just love spending my Sunday’s with you. I have just discovered buckwheat groats and roasted kasha buckwheat. This gluten free seed can be ground into flour to make pancakes and can be both a cold and hot breakfast cereal. I use the roasted variety to make savory meals. It’s a great rice or potato substitute. The beauty of buckwheat is that it is lower on the glycemic index compared to rice and oatmeal. If you can’t find roasted kasha just roast the buckwheat groats in a hot skillet. I make a one cup batch of the groats and store them in the refrigerator. The next morning I add 1/3 cup of the cooked groats to a pan and cover with almond milk. You can add whatever ingredients you like to make a delicious hot or cold porridge. I also use cooked cold roasted kasha to make a fried rice substitute. Search how to make buckwheat so it’s not mushy. It’s best to rinse and soak in water for 10-15 minutes. Add equal amounts of cold water and salt to a pan. Cook until it begins to boil. Remove from the heat and cover with a towel for 15 minutes.

    Hope you are feeling better! Have you tried Trader Joe's instant coffee? Pretty tasty and at a good price last I checked. For the oatmeal we've always made ours with milk so I wonder if the protein found in the milk makes it seem to "last longer", as in feeling full longer? I really appreciate your review of the teas. I'll have to check them out. I was wondering if you had any good recipe ideas to incorporate radishes? They are some of my husband's favorite vegetables.

    • @ArdentMichelle
      @ArdentMichelle  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I haven't tried their instant coffee. I would love to though. I'm sure the protein in the milk helps with the pancakes 👍 I haven't used radishes much but my favorites that come to mind are radish sandwiches when I did that English tea video. I think I layered them with either butter or cream cheese and soft white bread....and then when I made the green pozole soup, and topped them with slivers of radishes! That was SO GOOD!

    I keep my raw sesame seeds in the freezer and any toasted ones, also. I don’t like buying them toasted as they can be or go rancid so much faster. I also keep any nuts in freezer, too unless I know they will be consumed quickly. Especially for nuts used in baking. Rancid nuts can spoil the whole dish or bread.

    • @ArdentMichelle
      @ArdentMichelle  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I should probably do this with some of my nuts.

    Here's what I do for my husband and me. Simmer fruit in a pan with butter or maple syrup or honey, cinnamon, whatever you prefer. Fruit can be chopped apples, cherries, cranberries, peaches etc. Simmer til soft and add to your cooked oatmeal bowl. Enjoy.

    The channel for Nala’s world is actually one bike one world. You might use the numbers. Or search for Nala’s world and something with a tiger cat and a Scottish man with a beard should be it.

    I still find it so odd that kettles aren't standard issue in American homes. In the UK, everyone has one- yes for tea but also for any time you need to boil water- like to cook pasta, you boil the water in the kettle and then put it in the pan- faster and saves energy.
    I used to buy loose leaf tea from a place where they had kettles set to different temperatures for different teas and would give you a timer for steeping your tea as well. Sadly they closed even their online store. I usually just let the water sit a bit before I make my herbal teas now.

      that's interesting. 🤔 I would like to try the loose leaf teas. I find this a very affordable new hobby! Maybe try one new tea every 6 weeks or so.....

    Another good book- The Old Man Who Real Love Stories (or maybe it's "Novels" in English? It's a little off from Spanish). By Luis Sepúlveda. Quick read, 137pp, but at the same time it's so good that you won't want it to end

    Not cheap but the pancakes might have been good with some chopped nuts too. Do you use stevia? I use it or monk fruit in place of sugar in a lot of things ( doesn't work well in all things like cookies still need some sugar to brown properly) but it's very sweet and just a good healthy alternative.
    Do you like sesame candy? That stuff is so good! A great author (loved everything she has written which says a lot) julliet marillier. Check out hearts blood, the caller series and daughter of the forest. Happy reading!

    Hi Michelle hope you are doing great. I found your channel about a year ago and I really love watching all your videos. It is very inspiring. I am an Indian married to an American so I do cook all kinds of cusines and I am a huge foodie. Recently I was gifted a variety of beans and lentils and I was wondering if I could share some with you. I love to share food with people in general so I hope I dont come across as creepy to you hence I wanted to check with you before sending some since I know you love beans and lentils. Do let me know. I'd love to see the recipes that you will come up with using those. Lots of love ❤

I really want to try more Indian recipes this year and incorporating more veggies. Let me know if you have any recipes I should try!
