    Good to see you decided to plasti weld. I learnt how to do it a few weeks ago and was a life saver.

    • @ShenkeGarage
      @ShenkeGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah turns out its not really that difficult. I found the lower temp soldering iron did not burn and cause smoke with the plastic...

    • @SaltedCanine
      @SaltedCanine 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShenkeGarage yeah likewise. The zip tie/soldering iron method is my go to. Used it with a 3D printed facsia adapter that cracked to hold some speedgut gauges, worked a treat.

    What great timing! I just bought a cracked out HQ grille for my Tonner that i'm "doing a "resto" on. I actually wanted a Style side,but this came along and i grabbed it. Heaps less sanding to do! Lights look great mate. Thanks for the video, Been here from the start. Good stuff.

    HJ style sides get my vote, steal blinker stork and steal A pillar trim.(not plastic, from HX on wards) style side will always fetch more $s. So scrap it and start again...😁....Joking you're doing a great job and I'm liking the modern touch's 👌.FYI body filler over your plastic repairs, you will never know they where broken to begin with. If you decide to paint your bumpers and because you are getting handy with the fabrication side of things, may I suggest you slice and dice them so they are a very snug fit, you will love the look, colour coded bumpers snug fit against those lights and grill... 👌👌

  • @boldorboy08
    @boldorboy08 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those LED parkers/blinkers are a great fit. Can't help wondering if the face of the PCB boards were painted silver they might be disguised a bit better? There's a masking job to test your patience 😅

    HX is my pick, owned mine for eighteen years and counting and was my first car. Interestingly, my front side lights are from a company called vleds and their from the V6 Triton (not the ute) “switchback” series. Can be setup to be DRL, Park or indicator out of a single bulb and even have the load resistors built in. Pretty trick.
    I’d never heard of this guy doing H Series custom lights, and unfortunately I don’t have a Facebook so I can’t see his page.

  • @gfenwick1
    @gfenwick1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Bit late for advise now, but the 7” led headlights come in a range of bucket sizes, the ones that would have fitted for the hq-hz are the jeep shallow bucket type. The heatsink is a shallow bucket on the outer ecge, but deeper towards the deepest part of the bucket. Ivehad personal exp with this.

    Should have added, the 5” led buckets are the same. Ie broad deep bucket, medium bucket and deep apex bucket. Ifyou dont want to hack up the metal shells you can look for plastic replacement shells

    No hate against the LEDs, they're not too bad, but definitely not for me... Mainly the indicators, personally I reckon they'd be better if they were all orange (ie, no parker there)...
    Currently restoring a HZ Styleside Ute, but favourite H-Series would have to be a HQ Panelvan
