I've been kept waiting for over 20 minutes for my server to realize that I am finished eating and clearly not sitting at the table for the atmosphere, and end up begging them to bring the damn check. This episode is very prophetic.
I can't imagine how frustrating that must have been for the gentleman who was anxious to get back to work. Once they told him he was on candid camera, they should have made the bill paid in full. 😅
You mean to tell me no network would pick up this show? Because seeing it on TH-cam a clip at a time isn't enough for me. I know you can order candid camera box set online. I would just like to see it back on TV that's all. Come on Peter Funt I want Candid Camera back we all do. It'll be for our convenience 🤣🤣🤣
I usually laugh at these but I get frustrated in real life waiting to pay for restaurant meals so this was stressful to watch especially as no one else was going up to pay while he was waiting 😂
I felt sorry for that chap. He was extremely patient and definitely more courteous than several of the other guests, but the actress kept pushing him, to the point at which he couldn't take any more, at which point, she told him he was on Candid Camera. He was very clearly embarrassed.
Yes. It is amazing how often all of the service is very prompt and then you sit there forever waiting for the check. Well run places bring you the check before you are even finished saying, "Here is your check, but there is no hurry." I've never understood the restaurants that make you wait since that time means a table that isn't generating any additional revenue.
@@kenneththorberg6914 When I weary of waiting, I just go to the cash register. I say I don't have my bill yet, but I was sitting over there waiting for it (and point). Then THEY have to chase down the wait staff and get the bill. They get the message.
@@kenneththorberg6914 When I tire of waiting, I just go to the cash register, tell them I waited a long time for the bill and never got it. And say, "I was sitting over there." and point. They have to chase down the wait staff to get the bill. They get the message. Leaving the place is a BAD idea because leaving without paying is a crime. You can try to argue to the police that you were trying to make a point. The restaurant manager will almost certainly make sure you are arrested for skipping out without paying.
Not for nothing but Chew & Screw comes to mind. “ Yeah, Okay, we’ll be right over here, burp”. NOT ! I almost did this once in NYC. There was a waiter shift, it took almost 25 mins, I was so pissed. I got up, walked past the pay station, motioned to her to come on, she started to get up then I saw our waiter. He looked kind of rushed still , I felt bad. I didn’t want to screw him out of his tip but there is a decent time to wait. This was one of those times when the Restaurant would have known you can’t do this to people. We paid and left 20%. Great bit! Looks new. This show should be on tv again. Sunday nights. 10:30 Ch. 2 right?(CBS) God I miss my youth and the turbulent ‘60s. I miss my dad. I loved him so much.
Exactly why I request the bill when I put in my order...and bring cash and singles. Had waited well over 10 mins after being ready to leave. And in one bar, the same bartender would disappear with my $5 for a $3 drink. 20 percent yes, 40, no, especially without asking.
She should've said it's a new marketing gimmick the owner thought up. He thinks people will get hungry again while they're waiting to pay their last bill & maybe they'll order more food.
in reality it is like this in most restaurants.. they wish you to sit by the table as long as posible, so others thinks the restaurant is good. i have started to ask for the bill, when they come with the food. or sometimes i walk to the counter and pay there. i once saw an indian restaurant with only two people inside. they wished to pay, and the indian owner let them wait something like 10 minuts. i dont return to restaurants that are like this. there are so many other restaurants to visit in stead
why do i get the feeling that if he said yes to a drink they would have charged him and he would be sent to the bottom of the wait list for that new order.
I cannot imagine a job where you actually get a break for lunch. I have worked in IT for more than 45 years in Africa and in all that time I had perhaps 12 lunch breaks. I got married during one in court and went straight back to work. Lunch break? What is that?
This is funny, true, but that IS kinda bad to make people trying to get back to their work, late, or having to rush. That part not so funny. I’m a big fan of your channel don’t get me wrong, ❤
Bad tip is 10% or lower. 15% is below average service. 20% is good. 25%+ is for great service. As a person who has served for a few decades, I can tell you there are certain groups of people that fall in each of these categories. They think we work for free. Then claim the servers that complain about them are just racist. Of course, having no answer for the people that look like them they still stiff. They complain on purpose no matter what to get something for free. Get a thrill out of seeing you run back and forth every time you come back to the table, asking for an item each time over and over and over. Then stiff us or leave an insulting tip. They want our service, but think they are entitled not not have to pay or depend on others to pay so they have enough money to buy their next high. Coming in smelling like weed. Disgusting. 1st of the month and tax time is the worst. Because you get people that have no business blowing their money coming in to run up their check, to only stiff the server. YOU know who you are. And yet there are certain people who think writing these people a check every month will change their attitude and make them better. Fact is, people are poor because they make poor choices in life and have a poor attitude. Has nothing to do with anything else. As soon as they get money, they don't invest it. They blow it.
I completely understand what you are saying. My wife helped put me through school by waiting tables. Because of our history, we always leave a generous tip, unless it's obviously the fault of the waitress or waiter. That rarely happens. 🥰
@@young1939 Thank you. We really appreciate it. So does our kids who depend on it. I give everyone, regardless, the best service I can. But I will say I am not surprised by some. But what really kills me is the bad tippers who have the nerve to return. We don't forget. If you tip nothing or 10% and I remember you, then you get 10% service. If you are a regular who tips normal, you will always get good service.
Then there are country bumpkins like me who live in such a secluded remote location that there are not any places where we would even tip locally, so it completely slips our mind when we get out. Fortunately, I only need to get out in civilized society once every 8 years (medical issues-testing) and then make an effort to remember that people are supposed to be tipped. The other problem is that some of us are self-employed or have never worked for a business where tips are expected or accepted from customers. Forgive us for our oversights. That being said, I find it comical when I watch a movie set in a place like New York, where a person has to have pockets full of bills to tip the taxi, doorman, bellhop, (excuse the politically incorrect terms) and everyone else with their hand out. It is really annoying that people do not get properly paid by their employers (tack it on the bills). Sorry that happens to you and others who need the tips.
I understand. I know the people you are talking about. Bad tippers are the same people that leave the shopping carts in your parking space because we all know how inconvenient it is to actually take 25 seconds out of your precious live to help make your neighbors day a bit better. Or the ones that have the handicapped placard in their window ( not the license plate) and ARE NOT HANDICAPPED). Lazy people that only care for themselves.
@@islandgal500 I really appreciate your feedback, and your awareness. Tips allows employees to control their own income. If your not good, you don't get paid,. If your driven and give great service, in most cases customers reward you. That is how all jobs should be. We have too many people who work hard but don't make enough. Then we have lazy people who are guaranteed their wage no matter how hard they work. So, they know that and do the bare minimum. If wages were based on performance the lazy people would not be lazy. But there are certain people who think they are entitled to a liveable wage just for showing up. In the end, they still have poor and lazy attitudes, the customers suffer, and prices go up.
Just making people wait isn't particularly funny. Once they're told it's a joke, they've still had to wait. What's the joke?? 🤨 There's no 'oh everything is all right after all' moment. I'd like to have seen more reactions at the end, how people took it. oh well, still a great show 😁
