I bought the BR - 800 X for the weight reduction. Near three more pounds is a change IMO. The pull start is nice until it breaks leading up to more expensive repairs. I like keeping it simple and light.
The 800c straps are what I bought the blower for. That is the game changer for me. No more readjusting the straps all the time to get comfortable with the blower on the back. The belt idea was genius!
The BR- C for the price difference is well worth it for the extra features for sure, I bought the 800 X model for the weight reduction. Really it's no big deal taking it off to restart it.
Great job explaining the differences between both blowers! It really helps with my decision on which one to buy. As a side note, having a microphone would reduce the echoing, or maybe it's just the setting. Good job though!!!
Great job showing and telling, learning I am on them blowers. Never had one, got a craftsman v20 dose ok for little jobs. But need a big daddy, like that 800 well have a good one see ya next time see ya bye.
I had the BR800c… great machine and loved everything about it but I sold it the same year and bought the Echo PB 8010. Way more power on the Echo but nowhere near as nice as the Stihl. I chose the power of the Echo because it moves snow waaay better than the Stihl’s. If Echo could bring a side-pull, a better harness and a hose/handle setup like the Stihl’s… it would be perfect!
you could probably MacGyver the 800s telescoping tube onto the 8010 or 9010 with some T-Rex black duct tape if you tried. I just take the middle tube off my 9010 and run the stubby end nozzle by itself.
@@COC785 I actually liked the Stihl's tube setup better.... it just didn't do as good a job at moving snow as the Echo. The Stihl was good for the first 1-2 tanks of fuel and than it seemed as though it lost power. The Echo has been very consistent.
3:09. This video gets the hip belt purpose backward. The primary purpose for a backpack hip belt is to transfer weight from shoulders/back to your hips. The secondary purpose is for load stability. Both are important, but the C-E version is over 25 lbs, so really necessitates a better load-bearing system ... and that's why the hip belt is there. #1 purpose is weight distribution. As of early 2024, the sternum strap can be added to any blower for $12 and the hip belt is $49 for the 800 style and $36 for 600 and below. So, the extra $50 premium for the C-E version is more than covered by the chest strap and hip belt alone.
The C version is hassle to start, half the time it does not even start for me and when it does it takes a good 10-15 pulls and this is when it is on the ground. It is almost impossible to start it while it is on your back because you are not able to pull the cord out far enough. Have a BR 600 that is several years old and it starts on the first or second pull every single time.
I’m sorry it’s not working for you. Length of pull can be critical. Try doing a couple small pulls to “wind up” the starter and then do a full pull. If that doesn’t work you can put the standard starter on yours for about $60.
For around $10 you can add the chest strap to the X model. If you have to re-start your BP that often, you need to change your business model. Stihl reps will tell you that the X version's tube is more efficient.
I have the C model. You guys are all wrong. That sucker starts up so easily, I’m constantly turning it on and off. So glad I spent a little more. Please try the C before the X. I was like everyone else and thought it was a gimmick. Dead wrong I was.
Interesting that you said that. I always thought that the side start was an incredible idea. Especially considering most of the older customers enjoy talking to you while you're working. Causing you to shut off the machine far more often.
How has it been holding up? I think the better shoulder and hip straps is a huge difference between these. That allows you to carry the weight a lot easier
I rock the Sternum Strap! C model has a very tall ↕️ backplate, so unless you have a Large to XL torso it’s NOT comfortable. I found that the X is more comfortable on the backside, fits like the BR 700.

Nice comparison.Thank you kindly.
Keep informing the people...
Bought the 800 C because of the collapsible tube, not the side start. But the side start works good.

Great video. Keep up the good work.
wow what a great explanation thanks !! I was in a store and the sales guy just BLA BLA for too long I left with no tool I had cash lol
Your videos are great. I would love a pole saw video sometime.
Are you wanting a branch to fall on me? 🤣
Yeah let’s do it! There are a few new models hitting early 2022 so I’ll probably wait

May want to make sure your engaging the springs on the easy start system, you can feel it out and barely need to pull it when they’re engaged
You need to find TDC before pulling all the way out to start it.
They always start on one pull. You probably have no upper body strength
It's about the easiest to start backpack blower there is your technique might be lacking.
Am still thinking Echo 8010. Have till fri to make up my mind
Do they make one that don't require mixed gas
That would be nice.
Makita makes one that takes straight gas.

😂
@@MrOzzyosborne88 What's so funny?
😂
Where do we pick up the chest strap?
@@Beth-El Any full service Stihl dealer will have them or can get them,
Just curious, are you having trouble getting any FS 131 R in? Dealers here in Ga haven’t had any lately. Thx!
As of 10/7/21 we have 8. But we were out for a month. The supply is definitely challenging this year.
@@Carlsmower I hate that your 3000 miles away ! 😂 love your videos!

Same price
I bought the C because I have a bad back and bending down to restart after every time I turn it off would literally get on my nerves
Super presentation!
I love my br800c
Well said and concise.
I don't know about you, but I usually always have someone that is willing to start it for me (whilst it's on my back).
Really. Like the little guy in thunderdomw
Good explanation.
Thanks Cameron
What are you going with?
Exactly
Thanks!
Is the 800c 239 mph air speed or 199mph? I've seen both numbers listed.
I thought it was 239mph but more specifically it is 239mph max air speed and 199mph average air speed, according to stihl
@@mrtiggy So the 239 mph occurs off idle after full throttle and then settles down to 199 mph?
Thanks. Good information to know.
I used the C and the pulley messes us so I bought the X
Nice job god bless
Which one did you go with?
Neither telescopic?
like hang i wouldn't ask em to start it for me! you intterupted and now you're gonna start it again !!!!!

I have a 800x a 500 and a 200 their all great l like the c-e but it's a tad too heavy for an old fart like me 💪
Air squats will get you there 😂
Can u do a giveaway
Dude I’m giving you all sorts of knowledge 😂
Actually we are scheming on something. Probably swag.
Audio is terrible!
Sorry. The bane of my videos. We are working on it.
