  • IV fluid types and uses in nursing for IV therapy and NCLEX review. As a nursing student and nurse, you'll want to be familiar with IV fluid types and fluid tonicity, and know the difference between isotonic solutions, hypertonic solutions, and hypotonic solutions. These are crystalloid solutions.

IV is short for intravenous, and when administering IV fluids, it is important to know how they work and what you'll want to monitor for in your patients.
Nurses administer IV fluids per the healthcare provider orders to help treat fluid volume deficits via dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and other conditions.
The body is made up of two main compartment spaces: the intracellular space, and extracellular compartments. The intracellular compartment is found within the cell.
The extracellular compartment is found without the cell, and is made up of the interstitial compartment, intravascular compartment (plasma), and the transcellular compartment.
Fluid can be moved into or out of each compartment via a process known as osmosis.

I agree 100% and I'm a seasoned nurse and NP. Your video lectures take me back to "Ground Zero" and a great refresher for those basic fundamentals of nursing concepts, education and management skills we may have forgotten over the years. Seasoned nurse is like a driver who drives the same route/road back and forth daily for many, many years...gets home but doesn't remember how he got there! Great information. Good luck 🎉
