A real privilege to have rung in this peal! What music! These are certainly one of the best peals of 6-bells in Devon. A great afternoon out, with some good beer and company plus a top result in the competition at Widecombe later on that day!

Hi Yulian, my understanding is that G&J wanted their church bells hung for full circle ringing to sound like their carillon bells and that is why in my humble opinion they sound totally different to others and some like these are just fantastic! Glad you enjoyed this.

Great clip Trouty, thank you! Do you remember the last Rector of Lutsleigh, Revd Kenneth Jackson? About 20 years ago I left Yorkshire with the intention of looking after his elderly wife, Anne in the rectory in Lustleigh. It was my first visit to Devonshire and I thought the village and surrounding countryside to be very beautiful.

what an awesome sound :) only had meetings with G&J bells on the Continent yet, most are Carillon bells or usual ringing bells - not hung to full-circle

Thanks Simon for your comment. I think G&J bells r to die for, I wish they were still casting bells now!! U can tell their bells a mile off such a beautiful, harmonic sound! I love good Taylor bells and I'm a fan but they're sooooo different which is good! We r lucky I think to have such great bells down in Devon and Cornwall. U can compare the truly fantastic 8 by G&J at Kinsteignton to the beautiful Taylor 8 at Bideford or the majestic G&J 8 at Holsworthy to the wonderful Taylor 8 at Plympton St Maurice! Or the awesome G&J 6 at Lostwithiel to the awesome Taylor 6 at Ludgvan! All those mentioned would take some beating!

Hi Edward, as far as I'm aware there is no clapper lifter at Lustleigh, they are just that good!

Never a great fan of Devon Call changes l. I guess I don't like the closed leads, however I must admit the striking is fantastic.
I do think Devon Call changes sounds some much better half muffled. I think Gillet bells are fantastic. Peals that spring to mind are St James Clerkenwell and Coventry Cathedral. I love the way the Devon call change ringers pull the bells up.
