Lame question I know sorry, but it is then easy to carry on following your pattern once you have done this at the beginning of each row please?

Not lame at all! Yes! It should be easy for many stitch sequences and patterns. It just replaces the turning ch 2 at the beginning of a row, and you can typically carry on as normal after that. 👍🏻
