Here’s the really fun thing about core cannon. When combined with arcane propulsion, you can essentially fly up to your first increment range of the core cannon and BECOME AN ORBITAL LASER CANNON. Core cannon only said you become immobile, it said nothing about having to be on the ground though~
Sprites also had a ranged unarmed strike at level 1, with the added benefit of being in the sling weapon group for the crit specialization. Though the flavour there lends itself more to Kamehamehas instead of lasers.

Hot take: The best use of the automaton ancestry is for a construct Inventor's creation that takes in their creator's soul after their tragic death.
Haven't made it far into the video yet, and haven't seen it corrected in the meager bit of scrolling I did in the comments: but Automaton's don't hail from the Plane of Axis.
