About the Meta-Gaming of Core Rejuvenation: this is something Pathfinder/D&D could learn from narrative-centric TTRPGs, like Fate Core System and Cypher System: the player is *also a writer of the story,* don't dump all the narrative-making into the hands of the GM. If the narrative calls for a heroic comeback, use Core Rejuvenation as soon as possible and get back into the fray saying "I'd gladly cease functioning for the well-being of my friends!"; if instead the group calls for a strategic retreat, wait until the cost is clear before using Core Rejuvenation, commenting "seems there was a delay in my emergency repair protocols, I may be in need of some recalibrations".
Here’s the really fun thing about core cannon. When combined with arcane propulsion, you can essentially fly up to your first increment range of the core cannon and BECOME AN ORBITAL LASER CANNON. Core cannon only said you become immobile, it said nothing about having to be on the ground though~
Mind you, the automatons aren't *from* Axis; they're actually creations of the Artificer Conclave from the Jistka Imperium after Earthfall (Artificer Dedication feat when?) to stave off the empire's collapse. They have mortal souls and life force within the core, which is why they can be healed by normal magic. I can only assume the Utopian language has to be a clue into how the Jistkans figured out the tech to do so, or perhaps the empire has a sort of history with the plane of pure Law that we don't know all about.
Alright, gotta say, I'm not doing well building my Laser Monk. Eye Beams are only d4, so it takes two feats to make them so-so d6's. My 16 Str champion has chainmail, steel shield with shield boss, bastard sword, and an adventurer's pack and medical tools and add my composite short bow and I'm encumbered carrying basic combat gear and I'm strong!
You're probably right but for the most part I think people just kind of waive the encumbrance stuff as long as it's not someone trying to carry a massive clock, a chest full of stuff, or some other object that is just TOO BIG to be realistically carried without major issues!
Concept-wise, bulk is as much about physical size as it is weight. Rules-wise, containers take that into to account by subtracting whatever you put in them (up to their capacity) from your total bulk. A standard backpack will hold 8 bulk.
Does enhancing lesser augmentation mean you're enhancing the lesser augmentation and then one additional feat, or are you enhancing the lesser augmentation and then 2 additional feats ?
Did Paizo changed the Gunslinger class from it's playtest origin? I wonder what they look like at finish... And your thoughts if there is something interesting to comparison to the playtest's version.
Automaton Aim + Weapon Innovation Inventor + Repeating Heavy Crossbow as Innovation + Rangefinder (+10 ft range increment) + Omnirange Enhancement (doubled range increment) ~= 1110 feet range w/0 penalty or 1140 feet range w/0 penalty (variance depends on whether GM rules that the +10 feet range increment from the Breakthrough list is factored in before or after the range increment doubling from the Revolutionary list).
I wonder... if your character is a cannon could someone pick you up or wheel you around and wield them as a weapon. Particularly useful for someone whose class is some flavor of gunner
Wait a minute... could an Automoton get permanent Enlarge, and a permanent Fly speed? Imagine a 12 foot giant made of metal comes dropping out of the sky ready to wreck your shit!

To be perfectly honest, I'm sick and tired of everyone calling this the strongest Ancestry. The Automaton doesn't need to sleep, other than a 2hr inactive period, but that doesn't do much other than avoid being fatigued. Abilities and features are regained during Daily Prep, and that doesn't include sleeping. Then all of these "Powerful" feats they have require the use of 2 others. The Size increase, Rain of Bolts and Fly can't be Enhanced at the same time. Which is the same for most of these feats. It just sounds more like people are overhyping these things, and it's just annoying.
I checked briefly the bolts feat and is not THAT powerful and the flying speed is Not uncommon and it can last for 10 min, while this one last 5. Is not that unbalanced as the hype make it look.
@@xdragoonzero0 that is true, and tbh that was clearly something from an error from the start, because there is no similar effect like it widouth a save, it is easy to detect it as something the devs make an omission, but it's damage is in the coherent side in relation of similar powers on that level, so the errata would make it more easy to interact with it as other effects in the game.
@@xdragoonzero0 Except we got confirmation FROM PAIZO that there is SUPPOSED to be a Reflex save, so TECHNICALLY it's there! Of course some people will argue that because it hasn't been "printed" yet!!!
Hot take: i belive the Automoton should be an actual player construct with no con and no effect with Positive or Negative energy. Personaly i would also not give them low light but allow thair eyes to light up as if they were flashlights (this would give the Automoton normal light) or if i wanted to be unbalanced with it Thermalvision
That's what they did with wyrwoods in pf1e; the problem is that an actual CONSTRUCT character is both really hard to balance for the gm and really hard to play for the players. You cannot effectively heal yourself because of the lack of a con score, and you also become immune to a massive variety of effects because of construct immunities. Also, you don't just die when you hit 0, you're destroyed. You cannot be revived under any circumstances outside of a wish spell equivalent revival.
Automatons are not from Axis, they are mortal souls trapped in the core, and a product of the Empire of Jistka, who's lands are now held by Cheliax and Kauhn or whatever the country across Arodens Bridge from them is. Jistka just really really liked Axis and provided Utopian language lessons to anybody who would have been selected to become an Automaton, which was the Jistkan answer to Lichdom. Anyway, I wanna play an Automaton Oread very badly. I want to be the man of Rock and Stone.
I don't believe this ancestry is that strong, many other ancestries/versatile heritages already have crazy stuff (have you looked at the elemental plane heritages lvl 1 passives for elemental effects?), and many ancestries/heritages get unlimited flight at lvl 17 (which is i believe the level where you can choose to get the feat upgrade - in doing so not getting anything new) Also many new content added interesting reactions, not only for martial classes, making any reaction-related feat a question on using it in a situation or not.
Honestly, as COOL as a lot of this stuff is, it doesn't seem all that good. In most cases Enhancements might as well not even exist because the benefits don't really seem worth devoting more Feats toward the same effect. Remember, you'll only EVER have a max of two Enhancements and taking them comes at the opportunity cost of the other Feats at those levels. Lesser is at level 9, the same level as your Heritage-specific Feats. Greater is at level 17, which is the last one you'll be getting and coming at the cost of not taking Core Cannon or Axial Recall. Which would you rather: Having access to Core Cannon OR not being Clumsy while Enlarged? The only way around this limitation is if you're allowed to be an Ancestry Paragon for more Ancestry Feats, or an Oracle of Ancestors. You sing the praises of Reinforced Chassis' Enhancement, but mind you that that's a REACTION which only gives you a 20% chance to REDUCE damage from a PHYSICAL crit. I'd much rather the Enhancement just buff the armor further so that it's harder for crits to happen in the first place. Also, there's a lot of bait-and-switch with how they describe the Ancestry in general: "You don't need to eat, drink, sleep, or breathe, BUT you KINDA still have to do those last two. Oh, by the way, you don't get ANY Construct immunities despite having the Construct tag." It could be massively improved by having Heritages synergize with relevant Feats (which don't REQUIRE said Heritage already), granting Enhancements. For example Warriors getting Automaton Armament Enhanced for free, Sharpshooters getting Energy Beam Enhanced for free, Hunters getting Arcane Eye Enhanced for free, and Mages getting Arcane Communication Enhanced for free. This would give a bit more impact to your Heritage and make up for things like Hunter and Warrior having no benefit unless you're unarmed or level 9 with their Feat. I want to love this, but it just doesn't seem that good as is.

@@ianthe2131 Well I wasn't trying to replicate the Light abilities Saint tends to use, just big guy with a big gun punching stuff. So just Warrior Automaton and Way of the Vanguard Gunslinger.
So... It's a warforged done pathfinder style...dope
Now they only need a giant, an elephant and a turtle and D&D5 is done for.
And what about the Dragonborn, you may ask... Well, we already got them. They're the Kobolds.
Can't you do Elephant and Turtle people with an ancestry already though?!
Ok, unless it's something that I wasn't thinking about, Beastkin ancestry, you can't QUITE be a Turtle or Elephant man but it's pretty close!
@@JacksonOwex They're mostly shapeshifters, who don't have the powerful efficiency of a Loxodon or the tank-like nature of a Tortle.
Kobolds are not dragonborn, they're completely distinct dragonblooded races.
@@Nukestarmaster Well, technically yes - and yet they can have the very same abilities as a D&D5 Dragonborn, from fire breath to energy resistance. They're just tinier.
The internet needs a 2e "Encumbrance" guide because I'm pretty sure everyone I played FPS with this weekend was cheating on their encumbrance.
Does enhancing lesser augmentation mean you're enhancing the lesser augmentation and then one additional feat, or are you enhancing the lesser augmentation and then 2 additional feats ?
core cannon + power attack or core cannon + one inch punch. Is it possible??
Sadly no. Those are considered different actions, and when in Cannon form the only action you can take is the specific strike.
About core rejuvenation, doesn't spending all your hero points basically have the same problem then?
Did Paizo changed the Gunslinger class from it's playtest origin?
I wonder what they look like at finish... And your thoughts if there is something interesting to comparison to the playtest's version.
@ Thank you very much!
I'm drooling.
I wanna see a Red Tornado using this and the kineticist
How powerful would a MIXED ANCESTRY of AUTOMATON&ANDROID be ?
I wonder... if your character is a cannon could someone pick you up or wheel you around and wield them as a weapon. Particularly useful for someone whose class is some flavor of gunner
Giant Totem Barbarian to the rescue. I mean, when one is Huge a cannon-shaped teammate is just as portable as another weapon...
I mean, the ranged flurry monk was doable before. Kitsune and I think Pixies too got a ranged unarmed strike option.
Also Leshy
Wait a minute... could an Automoton get permanent Enlarge, and a permanent Fly speed? Imagine a 12 foot giant made of metal comes dropping out of the sky ready to wreck your shit!
2B or not 2B, _that_ is the question.
But how would the Pod work. Hmm. 🤔
I am confused , why can you select not to have clamps? Like who would want a automaton that cant clamp with its clamps?
Right?! lol
Not going to play an automaton, but it occurs to me that an Automaton monk with the psychic archetype and some ice spells could essentially have all the powers of the original five x-men
Cyclops would deal bludgeoning damage with his beams 'cause they're concussive blasts, not lasers.
Probably force damage actually.
One does not simply use Bury the Light when not referring to sword or chairs.
@Nonat1s I've asked you this a few times, and you never answered; how did your girlfriend react when you showed her the Asp Coil in the Grand Bazaar?
I'm playing a dnd 5e game set in the future (Eberon but even more advanced in technology) and one player is a Robot (using the warforged stats only for mechanical purpus), so now i can make a conversion for his character to PF2 for fun (i like making charcters).
Making characters is way too fun XD
I wish one of my players would have been a cool robo-man
@@Nonat1s So we have our party, my character the Hobgoblin Timtraveler magus with a samurai theme (Samurai Jack jokes a plenty), the Automaton ancestral guardian barbarian who acts like baymax when he's not raging, the Symphonic rockstar bard kitsune, the halfling druid who uses recycled trash for everything and the Half-elf investigator who is 14 but hase the highest body count of the party (she is really lucky with crits).
Der breakin mah murshun!
Nonat1s is a robot! I knew it!

@@Nonat1s As always, great videos. You do such a great job helping break down how 2e works and give a good feel of how things work.
Now I want everything he says to be prefaced with WHAT it is like HK-47 from The Knights of the Old Republic games!!!
Energy beam feat is nothing new since kitsunes foxfire that is almost identical came out almost a year ago
Automaton Inventor in turret mode with their construct also in turret mode lol
@@nicolasvillasecaali7662
The strongest part of Rain of Bolts is the no save + doesn't hit allies parts.
@@JacksonOwex is paizo allergic to editors or something?
This is like the third time I've heard about something like this.
Unexpected bury the light. Not complaining though.
Laser Monks are the new Meta, nothing else compares. Go full Ki Monk for more Lasers and name yourself Android 22!!
By your command.
I don't think they come from Axis, tho.
Gogo gadget laser monk
Automatons are not from Axis, they are mortal souls trapped in the core, and a product of the Empire of Jistka, who's lands are now held by Cheliax and Kauhn or whatever the country across Arodens Bridge from them is.
Jistka just really really liked Axis and provided Utopian language lessons to anybody who would have been selected to become an Automaton, which was the Jistkan answer to Lichdom.
Anyway, I wanna play an Automaton Oread very badly. I want to be the man of Rock and Stone.
Cyclops from X men would be force damage.
I don't believe this ancestry is that strong, many other ancestries/versatile heritages already have crazy stuff (have you looked at the elemental plane heritages lvl 1 passives for elemental effects?), and many ancestries/heritages get unlimited flight at lvl 17 (which is i believe the level where you can choose to get the feat upgrade - in doing so not getting anything new)
Also many new content added interesting reactions, not only for martial classes, making any reaction-related feat a question on using it in a situation or not.
Oh, by the way, you don't get ANY Construct immunities despite having the Construct tag."
It could be massively improved by having Heritages synergize with relevant Feats (which don't REQUIRE said Heritage already), granting Enhancements.
