I was born in Buffalo, and as a child we lived in the Kensington area. Back in the 1950s it was a blue color working class neighborhood. Saw the old neighborhood many years later and it was run down.
Speaking of Buffalo's restoration. Where did the old quaint green streetlight poles go? They were already fitted with h.p.s. the ones now look like the lights in a prison. No matter how much they restore the city this was a grave error. I just wonder where the scrap money go?
Honestly, for the most part this city looks clean. No junkies strung out in front of buildings. No prostitutes walking around. No random groups of 5-7 black teens standing half in the roadway shouting . This ain't ghetto. Come to South Florida is you wanna see the stuff nightmares are made of.
In Houston, it's worse when the sun's up , the heat makes people crazy , I've been to buffalo, it's a poor city , but definitely not ghetto/hood like city's with money
My dad is from Martin county, hobe sound, Stuart, fort Pierce and so on. My aunt moved to Carroll city 50 years ago. My dad moved to Buffalo from Florida after Vietnam following my uncle who lived in Tonawanda for a while.
Just think about how prosperous it once was. Think about how much property tax revenues the city collected back then. now there are less overpall property taxpayers. Fortunately mayor brown is there as he is a fine mayor.
It's the same old story. You take away the industrial base of a city and it's downhill from there. A lot of the good high paying blue collar jobs were lost when steel plants closed and auto manufacturing was slowed by foreign autos. It happened across the Great Lakes and throughout the country. Bad politics and greedy C E Os.
@bflo1000 bro your incorrect. It's equally as bad area's as the belt. You go to central park, the town gardens, dodge, shady ville, Guilford, Massachusetts Street also known as murder mass. Bro and that's just off violence if we talking about visually it's way worst area's then there my g.
@bflo1000 nope. Yeah they improving the entire city. I was on Grey street and they putting up condos. They did the same with the west side. Broadway also being bought up and reworked slowly soon buffalo not gonna have any more hoods when they done with their plan's. It's gonna travel to the burbs. The Fed's doing sweeps yearly and when they done condos come up bank's magically appear. I was on Massachusetts visiting my brother and was seeing people jogging and people buying houses thinking that house you bought I highly doubt you know people were killed right on that porch.
@bflo1000 they are not the same size Buffalo almost double the size, Buffalo was built for 600,000 people and in its peak has just short of that topping out at 580,000 people in the 50’s . Rochester has never eclipsed 340,000 residents at its peak , there’s a reason Buffalo was given pro sports teams and Rochester was always a minor league city
@bflo1000 yeah I here you but am from the town Buffalo live in Florida for the past 1year and used to run back in forth to the falls so I know but good videos
@bflo1000 where are you from I lived in both parts you just saying Broadway in buffalo the whole Eastside wild right now and the falls has a lot of drug addicts but buffalo is violent bro born and raised not going by paper work am going of facts
I grew up there. It was once a beautiful and thriving city. A jewel located close to Niagara Falls and a beautiful waterfront. But along came the greedy politicians and corrupt government. They sucked the life out of Buffalo then moved to Florida and other parts of the country. But the people there haven't lost heart. They are strong, work hard and want the best for their families. It's a multi cultural city with people that look out for one another. Hopefully, some caring politicians and a new generation of younger people could revive this beautiful city that's in moth balls.
@@718ant5 HAHAHA my bad dog. It just blows my mind that people think Buffalo is a tiny city and just makes me mad. Not a big city by any means but definitely not small. Buffalo has such a bad rep from people who know nothing and have never been here.
People got the nerve to ask why I'm not moving back. I joined the Army and got the hell outta there. I barely got back to visit my mother.

Visited Buffalo in Aug. 1978. All I remember is a place called Mulligan's Brick Bar.
It's still there. looks the same too. It doesn't have a ciggarette machine no more.
Hahaha gross
P.s. from south Buffalo to North buffalo, all the streets look the same.
I grew up in Buffalo in the 60s and 70s.I lived at 299 Humbolt pkwy till about 1978 or so. I would love to see what the old house looks like now.
You would be disappointed... Trust me!!
It’s a crack house
my grandparents had a house I the 600 block of Humboldt phwy back in the 70s peace
Are you on a bike? I hear blinker noises, but you're moving at the speed of a drive by, so this doesn't feel like a car.
Are you dumb?
Looks nice. Where’s the snow?
How much would it cost to build a large house like these nowadays?

Probably all the homes are rented (not owner occupied) and no one owns a lawnmower.
