    Classic banger....in the same vein as Stargazer.........every musician is at the top of their game on this.......Cozy Powell was a phenomenal drummer....R.I.P.....Great reaction 👏

    One of Blackmore's best solos. I was lucky to see Rainbow live and Dio live but never alas Dio with Rainbow. C'est la vie! Thanks for playing this astounding song.

    That is the music I used to listen to when I was 15, now I am 57. Thank you for re-discovering it for me!

      Tell me about it. I was 12 and 59 now. I live in oklahoma and NOBODY listens to this album in this state but me. It would be trippy to meet someone else who digs thus stuff too.

    Yes, we love some more Rainbow. One of my favorite groups of all time. Check out songs from their Munich 1977 concert, "Mistreated" and "Catch the Rainbow". Just magical.

      @@hanierfamily Yes, you did the studio version but this is the live version is almost like a different song because of the solo. Most of the songs from the Munich concert are very special.

      Interesting. Tony Carey played a bit on this before he got kicked and said that vocals took the longest time to record because they needed to get it right

      @88hh40 Interesting indeed. Perhaps it was meant that the vocal wasn't chopped from many takes

    Cozy Powell is phenomenal on this. David Stone apparently wrote the instrumental section of the track, but was uncredited, which was normal in those days.

    I saw Rainbow 🌈 on this tour ( The Long Live Rock & Roll Tour ) opening for REO Speedwagon. The last album & tour with Dio on vocals. REO were supporting the cleverly named ..You Can Tune A Piano 🎹 .. But You Can't Tuna Fish album.

    Bob Daisley on bass, Canada's David Stone on keyboards and one of rocks greatest drummers, Cozy Powell.
    You're right about Iron Maiden. Bruce Dickinson was a massive fan of Ronnie James Dio.

    Rainbow's use of a tasteful middle eastern sound here hadn't been done much before (Kashmir an exception) and that gave it movement and theatricality that you guys spoke of. Dio is the perfect guy for the vocals. Plus that Blackmore guitar solo was top tier. Thanks for reacting to this. I would suggest "Sixteenth Century Greensleeves" off of the live 1977 "On Stage" album for a future request.

    I think the devil in the lyrics is heroin....listen to this with that in mind...."sleep with the devil "....thats always been my perspective...

    • @colrhodes377
      @colrhodes377 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may well be right. Ronnie often hid real meanings in his lyrics.

    • @jimshelby406
      @jimshelby406 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ronnie didn’t write songs about heroin. You have to have some experience with the subject. While Ronnie enjoyed his beer and marijuana he was not a fan a fan of hard drugs.

    • @colrhodes377
      @colrhodes377 ปีที่แล้ว

      @jimshelby406 This is 👍 true. Ronnie tried coke once, but the bubbles got up his nose. Only joking, he tried his cousins prescription coke and nearly got arrested. He was given such a bad time by Wendy Dio that he never did it again.

    • @michaelvandusen1297
      @michaelvandusen1297 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm saying "in my perspective of the lyrics"....he is warning against the evils of heroin which was rampant L.A at the time , not to mention the rock scene as a whole, by using the devil as a metaphor for heroin...the devil is me, and I'm opening the key to the gates of sweet hell babylon.
      . Also Babylon means confusion...its just my perspective...I'm not saying that I know that is what the song is about.....I'm just pointing out , that it makes sense if you put the lyrics into that context...
