Just upgraded my Sync3 OS and now have android auto on the big screen. google maps and pandora powered by my phone and displayed on the main car screen.
Answer is simple. If you're older, and want the bells and whistles? Get the premium. If you're younger, and plan on doing some modifications to the car? Base model is just for you.
For me it’s a matter of you are buying the car for performance or buying it just bc you can. People who want it for performance and love the mustang then all you need is the base model, if you’re buying just cause you can then you want the premium so you can have a bigger screen and leather
ABSOLUTELY! I love my heated and cooled seats and the 8" touch screen Sync 3 premium stereo. I drove off the lot with a 2017 GT Premium with the 6spd manual for $32k...
We just bought a 2016 GT Premium convertible about a month ago, same yellow as in the video. I couldn't be happier with it, it's fantastic and fun to drive. I'm not normally a fan of leather seats but the air conditioned seats alone are worth the extra for the GT Premium.
The performance pack adds stiffer shocks, brembo brakes, etc, so there is a difference between the way the two cars drive. Also the premium shown here does not have the adaptive cruise control, just the regular one.
I just got my base GT for $29,400. I was surprised they came down so low from an MSRP of $35,500. Ruby Red Metallic Tintcoat. I don't mind the cloth seats and I plan on upgrading the stereo head unit anyway.
Bill Butler, I bought mine at Grieco Ford in Delray Beach, Florida. It was the Saturday during Memorial Day weekend. The key is you never let them close you on the first visit. You always walk out with their lowest price, call them the next day and tell them if they drop the price another grand you will take the car today! That's what I did and it fucking worked!
i bought my 2016 base brans new for 27k after everything, i love my deep impact blue mustang, but the only thing that really hate and disapointed that ford doesnt offer to upgrade is that annoyingly tiny screen...ive seen tom tom and raxiom offer replacement plug and play, but even still they're both insanely expensive and very glitchy....
I had a base model v6 and traded it in for a premium gt and honestly just the interior alone is far beyond the base model the premium mustang in my opinion seriously is the best looking interior than a lot of other vehicles around its price range
The premium package is worth every penny. It will not only enhance your experience but your best believe you’ll make at least 2000$ of that money back when you sell the car. Comparing a mustang with the premium package and one without is a very nice bargaining tool in a negotiation and the fact that lots of people cheaped out and didn’t buy it makes the ones that do have them all the more desirable
Had the option between Premium or Performance Packs when I was buying my car. I saw no need for the premium, the performance pack on the other hand is well worth it.
got a used base model for 25k with 3k miles. chose the base as I was gonna upgrade all suspension and wheels. car went from driving like a light truck to feeling like a vette..fords suspension setup for these cars is crap. upgrade to eibach sportlines and koni yellows and put on some 305s in the back 275s upfront and now your cooking..
fernandizo I wouldn't say it's dangerous, but it's comfortable for cruising. The main advantage of stiffer suspension is the chassis reacts quicker, making it much more agile and responsive to the driver. Yes, Sportlines are highly recommended, but you can drive the car your whole life and not really need it
That Guy With the Pointlessly Long Username That You Are Wasting Your Time Reading Right Now . nice name..lol. when I first got the car I was scared to take turns in the mustang.. The first day I almost crashed it taking it out of a corner as the rear wobbled on me and caused the car to slip out way too far. after the stiffer suspension turns are linear the car stays flat through the turn with no vertical component. its night and day. This car should have come lower, with a stiffer spring and slighlty more dampened shocks.
My 10 year old Pontiac has heated seats and a bigger touch screen and leather seats.Stuff like that should be standard on a newer car like this.Plus why don’t any of the mustangs have a sunroof? That’s kinda odd that there’s no option for it.
for some reason i dont understand why the proformance package base gt doesnt come with drive modes my learned that the if the car was going to be driven hard and taken to a church parking lot to do dounts (which i do both of these thing quite often) then get the proformance pack... can you make a video explaining why the proformace pack doesnt come with drive modes
My 2017 GT is pretty much setup like that yellow one, sticker was around 37k. I kinda wish I had gone for the Premium, just for the larger screen, better audio and cooled seats. Then again I prefer cloth, and have other vehicles with heated seats for winter, not like the Mustang would be used in winter anyway.
i would opt the gt premium just for the drive mode switch and extra gauges, not a big fan of leatger seats or pony projection or ambiance lighting or the bigger display, those are just luxury driving is an emotion edit: spelling corrections
I have a 2016 Base and love it ! Buy the Base and do upgrades yourself lot's to choose from out there . ! The stereo in the base is not bad at all . I don't need GPS or a Sat- Radio . The voice command works well. If your looking for a new 5.0 Gt Mustang look to spend Base= 30,000 to 33,000 Premium = 35,000 to 42,000 Keep an eye out for the new GT500 and maybe in 2020 the Green Bullet to come back ..!! P.S The new 10- speed is not bad at all.......!
Matt Hartup I think the 15-17 is the one to keep. you can do more with modwise with it because its not DI. plus it looks way better than the droopy 18 face
I got mine for 45k but I got everything I could of possibly get with it also got it over yr ago but checked online around my area still cost 40+k. The GT350 they where all around 70-90k not the R version just the regular version. Wish they would cost 52k like they advertise but that's just bunch of bs a used one with 7k miles cost 55k around me all new ones over fucking priced I just wish they wouldn't do a dealer mark up so fucking stupid.
You can get the infotainment system without the premium version. I'd get a base GT with sync 3 ($2,000) and the performance package ($3995) and call it a day. It's $1995 more expensive than buying premium, but you get the stuff that you need.
Also not mentioned in the video was the extras added by the performance pack. Performance pack has: Bigger wheels and tires (Pirelli P Zero 275 rear 255 front), Strut tower brace, Brembo big brake kit front (6 piston calipers and larger rotors), bigger radiator, bigger sway bars front and rear, gauge cluster in middle of dash, 3.73 final gear ratio (manual only for 15-17), Springs with stiffer spring rate for better handling. Premium adds a ton of weight to the car especially with the tech package. Leather seats with heat and A/C, more speakers and an amp. I laughed when he said the premium rear bumper was more aerodynamic. Not true, its just a two piece bumper that can be modified easier to accommodate dual tip mufflers. Buy a base model and modify it to your taste. Premium is just for people who want an out of the box car.
If you can afford the Premium the added features add to the value of the car at resale time. And down the road your collectability value goes up as well.
Does the base GT w/ no performance pack come w/ drag mode that ford has advertised or is that something completely different from the 4 drive select modes in the optional performance pack?
not worth premium only cause everyone upgrades to after market parts even if they spent the money on premium packages. I saved the money, went base so I had more money for mods. Not a fan of leather or the touch screen.. always enjoy your videos
Got my base GT model. Upgraded the speakers with Memphis speakers + JL subwoofer and JL amp for $1000 with installation. I also added the 8" touch screen for $500. The audio and the touch screen costs me $1500 with tax and installation. I got the mishimoto muffler delete axle back exhaust along with the mishimoto X pipe resonator delete and mishimoto cold air intake. The exhaust + the x pipe + the cold air intake for $1700 with installationa and tax. So I spent less than $4000 to have a much better sound system and exhaust upgrade than the GT premium one. I careless about the cloth seats cause I live in California and its not freezing cold lol. Anyways, either one you will be happy with :)
Cloth seats are better anyway...you don't need to cool them or heat them because they are not nearly as sensitive to ambient temperature plus they grip and hold you better during spirited driving.
All I want is leather seats, my color and ambient lighting, and the drive mode switches. The stupid puddle light with the pony logo is extra money along with heated seats, and touch screen.
My brother has a challenger and they offer a 7 inch and a 8 inch screen. Both of the mustang screens look small. Do you know what size they are? Btw whats with the goofy looking mustang light under the mirror? That novelty would last all of 5 mins then I would be looking for a way to turn it off?
When the day comes and I can get a car, I think this is on the list of "Top Cars." I've been doing some looking around and the average generation age of a mustang is 9-10 years and the 5th Gen came out in 2015, so I'll be pretty good. I'd like to customize one of these Premiums and talk to GReddy and to see if I could get a custom widebody kit. I'd get a carbon fiber APR Performance Splitter and Spoiler, and possibly longer down the road, consider getting some Giovanna or Forgiato rims in red or some variant. I'd almost definitely have to go with the Toyo R888 for track, and, after a little bit more saving, some Toyo Proxes RS1 tires. Oh yeah, and some performance upgrades. A Mustang with a custom body kit would be my ideal car, and I could possibly find some friends who would be interested in the idea of creating a track and drag racing team. I have a good name. "100.2 Octane" for the racing fuel mix of 70% 93 Octane and 30% Toluene which equates to 100.2 Octane fuel. And I would need some upgraded injectors for a turbo and some upgraded fuel filters for the gas. I'm going to invest in the stock market later this year with a few hundreds I've saved so I can make this a reality. I'm only 12, but this is my ideal perfect way to buy a Mustang.
I wish I could have had seen a video like this before i ordered my 2015 new... i still kick myself for being cheap and getting the base, still love the car though
You've answered all my questions I was just wondering what the premium and the basic half in it and you answered all my questions thank you very much appreciate the video I know the basic is going to be for me thanks again
I don’t know why people mention the destination charge, it’s just a dealer gimmick to make you pay more. I got not only two grand knocked off my premium gt, but they gave me three grand more for my trade and they didn’t even see my car till after the deal was done. Car buying is a game and you need to act like you have all the aces, which you do, even if you only have a pair of two’s.
That premium is not just a regular premium, it’s a performance package, 6 piston brembos, more gauges, strut bar, bigger sway bar and 3.55 gears so yeah that one has a performance advantage over the base
Zach Young pretty sure the cs is just a body kit i might be wrong and it may include the performance pack but the cs is a body kit at the very least and the performance gives handling goodies
Thank you brother! God Bless! All that is cool. I would only really like the modes like how you could change the drive terrain, navigation and speakers would be nice but other than that I don’t care about the nice leather seats and lights and heated seats and all that crap. Only things that actually genuinely improve and help you get to where you’re going though it would be nice if you could pay an extra $4000 and get a little bit of extra speed make it a little bit faster. Haha. I definitely decided which one I’m going with, and that would be the premium.
I really wish they offered the Sync 3 on the V6 models. Now I have to put the upgrade in myself. Looking at the Moddiction unit. I dont like the Raxiom one that AmericanMuscle sells.
They compared the Base without PP to a Premium with PP. Reg. Premium doesn't cost 42K (MSRP). Might as well wait for the '18s to come out. They will compete better with those Camaro's and have more options.
I Just bought an race red 2015 convertible with manual, 2000 miles on a car for 33k. 2 years left on a bumper to bumper warranty. Comes with 3.55 rear end and 20's with pirelli p zero tires. Good buy what you all think?
ironbull2003 im picking up a racw yellow base gt (just like in the vid) with 11k miles for 26k. Guy upgraded to black 19s, carbon fiber trimming and recaro seats.
I got a used lightning blue gt California Special manual trans with 9000 miles for $33000 out the door with 7 year 100k warranty. sticker price when new was $43000
Not for me for some screens and leather. Money better spent on the Performance Pack and 10 speed auto. I actually prefer cloth seats over leather. Warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
lol, good luck finding a new gt350 for under the 52k price range. premium u can get new, like he mentioned, after rebates around the 34k mark. that's a nice size different.
Louis Lewis You're right. I've found one dealer with 6 of them and they all are listed at $68-$74k. I kinda see it as a collectors item but after helping 2-kids through college it will be my first sports car.
@@Sahadi420 an oil pressure gauge is pointless? Really? Must have grown up on dummy lights. If you're planning on driving that car like it's meant to be driven then that pointless guage can be the difference between a small money repair and a new motor.
Jeremy Senseney there is an oil light that will go off in my cluster if anything goes wrong with the oil. The same applies to everything as far as levels are concerned. Do I need to constantly monitor my tire pressure??? Nope. Is tire pressure important??? Yup.
ya know i’d love to have a driving mode and steering feel button. but honestly when am i ever gonna wanna be quite and not feel like i’m driving a race car?? that’s right, never😤
Don't care for leather seats but having the larger touch screen and better radio would be worth it.
Karnegis love you dog
Just upgraded my Sync3 OS and now have android auto on the big screen. google maps and pandora powered by my phone and displayed on the main car screen.
It would be nice if they had a radio delete option and have a nice aftermarket system put in.
It does have radio it’s Bluetooth
Same, I use to be all about leather but cloth is more comfortable.
Dude deserves more credit for giving us a no bullshit, straight forward video.
Answer is simple. If you're older, and want the bells and whistles? Get the premium. If you're younger, and plan on doing some modifications to the car? Base model is just for you.
PERFECT answer... because why buy the bells and whistles when you are only going to replace or not use.
krocialblack I’m young and I think the premium is worth 4K more
For me it’s a matter of you are buying the car for performance or buying it just bc you can. People who want it for performance and love the mustang then all you need is the base model, if you’re buying just cause you can then you want the premium so you can have a bigger screen and leather
I paid 4k for the premium and I'm a young dude. Some people just like having nice stuff regardless of age
@@TexasPoonTapa I’m young and got the base…I knew I was gonna replace the radio with the Tesla screen anyway. Only thing I really like is the lighting
Ford has to stop giving us small as screens and forcing us to pay higher for a damn bigger screen.
ok, buy the base then buy the big screen radio separately then slap it on.
Brayan Nexon thank you people forget you can do that lol
Well said
Brayan Nexon exactly they sell factory plug and play kits for $900-1300 for the sync 3 system.
A lot of those unnecessary options aren’t worth the 4K
Michael Cervantez Facts
Thumbs up for showing differences side by side
ABSOLUTELY! I love my heated and cooled seats and the 8" touch screen Sync 3 premium stereo. I drove off the lot with a 2017 GT Premium with the 6spd manual for $32k...
Ron Gravel Wtf where? Lmao I've never heard of that. No doubting you but where did you get yours at?
Carlos Flores probably after trade in
bearatts Good point.
I paid that much for my 2016 gt premium

I’m thinking to buy one do u agree with me and what advice could u give me
I could only afford the base GT but I don't care it's still a mustang 5.0.
Obviously.
It wouldn't be a huge difference without it
Exactly!!!
Mustangs are so nice, especially if you can find a relatively new one at a used dealership, you can get one for a great price!
I just got a ‘17 GT Base Ruby Red like the one in your video but mine is base and it does have Sirius XM radio. I listen to it every day.
Kevin Young a local Ford dealership in my area just sold a brand new GT with PP for $29k
Samuel Chan buy 2 at that price
Kevin Young his month I got my GT Premium for $27k...
Where?
Bill Butler, I bought mine at Grieco Ford in Delray Beach, Florida. It was the Saturday during Memorial Day weekend. The key is you never let them close you on the first visit. I'm just here for the coyote sound
Bigger display, leather seats and just because I'm a geek the Pony projection looks awesome!
Great review. My GT Premium is the by far the most badass car I've ever had!
one look at that base center stack was enough of a turn off. i live in fl the cooled seats are great, premium ftw
I have a 2017 base GT and I feel like a peasant after watching this 😂
I had a base model v6 and traded it in for a premium gt and honestly just the interior alone is far beyond the base model the premium mustang in my opinion seriously is the best looking interior than a lot of other vehicles around its price range
I'd like to see Ford build a Mach 1!
They already built one in I think 1971 I guess
Careful what u wish for, or they might just build and suv
Bradley Zoshak lol Mitsubishi
Car Information Channel
I think he meant why don’t they make a newer Mach 1 like how in the 60s and 70s
Get a base model then build your own Mach 1 with aftermarket or specific Ford performance parts YOU HAND CHOOSE to install😎👍🏾
For me it's A) the driving mode switch and B) the leather. The rest I could do without although the projected pony is SUPER cool.
Bought a used ‘15 premium GT and it’s totally worth it. The base and premium are so close in value used it’s a no brainer.
it's an easy choice for me after this video. The premium is absolutely worth it to me! thanks
Had the option between Premium or Performance Packs when I was buying my car. I saw no need for the premium, the performance pack on the other hand is well worth it.
Love them wills.
wheels!
Why gitcher wills from lawyers when u can just gittem from Ford?
it's hard to see the difference in the wills, wish they just let you pick from all of the available options.
You also get the gauge pods and blindspot monitors on the performance pack premium
i got a 2017 base ruby red gt and couldnt be any happier
Slab_House805 I got a 2015 ruby red premium GT lol red twins !!

I love my premium GT! So worth the extra coin
You can get the big screen on the Base without upgrading to premium. Although it is like a $1,000 add-on.
5 years late but i’m on a mustang addiction and obsessed with these

I think the base 100A and 300A should be gone. 101A or 301A should be the minimum.

I didn't realise I got the 2017 Mustang GT Premium til now I thought this was all stock, thanks for the info bro I appreciate it
Premium package please
BASE is good enough save money!!!I have a 15 base love it plus I got mine for a killer deal I just wanted the 5.0 motor
i would opt the gt premium just for the drive mode switch and extra gauges, not a big fan of leatger seats or pony projection or ambiance lighting or the bigger display, those are just luxury driving is an emotion
edit: spelling corrections
I have a ‘15 mustang V6 and watching this, i wish i could get the GT. But then again i’m still 21 and this is my first car..
Dang good for you, in like 10 months, I might get 05
I have a 2016 Base and love it ! Buy the Base and do upgrades yourself lot's to choose from out there . !
The stereo in the base is not bad at all . I don't need GPS or a Sat- Radio . The voice command works well.
If your looking for a new 5.0 Gt Mustang look to spend Base= 30,000 to 33,000 Premium = 35,000 to 42,000
Keep an eye out for the new GT500 and maybe in 2020 the Green Bullet to come back ..!! P.S The new 10- speed
is not bad at all.......!
Aye u called it
I only wanted a premium when I was looking. Needed the heating and cooled leather, the toggle switches, and the big radio screen.
Paid 33k for my brand new GT/CS, money well spent!
and when the 2018 comes out your car will be worth 24-25k ; )
Matt Hartup I think the 15-17 is the one to keep. you can do more with modwise with it because its not DI. plus it looks way better than the droopy 18 face
Miguel Alonso direct injection

So did I. Got it today and I'm one happy man
For the base if you want to activate sportmode push down the brakes and double tap traction control, it will prompt up.
You can get the infotainment system without the premium version. I'd get a base GT with sync 3 ($2,000) and the performance package ($3995) and call it a day. It's $1995 more expensive than buying premium, but you get the stuff that you need.

Buy a base model and modify it to your taste. Premium is just for people who want an out of the box car.
rain sensing wiper blades along with the adaptive cruise control is available on all Mustangs not just premium those two options are combined together
If you can afford the Premium the added features add to the value of the car at resale time. And down the road your collectability value goes up as well.
Does the base GT w/ no performance pack come w/ drag mode that ford has advertised or is that something completely different from the 4 drive select modes in the optional performance pack?
The A/C seats in the premium pack makes it worth every penny
been looking for this video for so long! thank you so much!!
not worth premium only cause everyone upgrades to after market parts even if they spent the money on premium packages. I saved the money, went base so I had more money for mods. Not a fan of leather or the touch screen.. always enjoy your videos
Chet Pearson wait.. if you haveoney for aftermarket parts wouldn't you have enought to upgrade to premium?
what are you gonna upgrade that will replace the premium things??? The head unit??
Chet Pearson yeah I hate leather seats sunny weather and body roll are the enemies of the state lol
when is the 2018 going to be out
Sept.
Production for 2018 starts 10-2
Gregory Jowers get the 17.. 18s look like a dodge dart got punched in the face and broke its jaw. somebody fckd up in the design dept.
but the reworked 5.0 and 10 speed tho...
Sultankraver x don't get a 10 speed. 6 speed or nothing.
All models should have the mustamg logo up front regardless of trim. The shaker system with built in sub sounds superb though.
Recaro seats and a 6pt roll bar from the factory is all I would prefer..all the other bells and whistles I have ... it's call driving skills.
The premium also gets additional soft touch areas on the doors.
The performance pack gives it that different aluminum trim above the screen not premium
Serious question is it ok to put regular gas in my 2017 mustang gt ?
Check owner manuel
You can find it online if you don't have it
Reguar gas is fine as per the manual.
I bought the base and put in a 10.4'' vertical Tesla style touch screen. Saved money and looks much better than Sync 3.
Internet Police nice !
I heard they are going to stop making the gt350 and gt500 is that true? What is the base price for those? I still miss my 1970 old school Mach 1
The touch screen. That's the reason I'm looking at the premium
U can get a bose radio for less than 500
Cloth seats are better anyway...you don't need to cool them or heat them because they are not nearly as sensitive to ambient temperature plus they grip and hold you better during spirited driving.
Is there no chrome Mustang symbol in the middle of the front grill on the base as there is on the premium??
I'm 6'5. Do you think I could fit in this comfortably with no passengers?
Premium is worth it , got to have those cooled leather seats in this hot south
All I want is leather seats, my color and ambient lighting, and the drive mode switches. The stupid puddle light with the pony logo is extra money along with heated seats, and touch screen.
My advice is go with a premium it's worth it you won't regret it the upgrades are awesome❤👍🔥
Whats the difference between them
My brother has a challenger and they offer a 7 inch and a 8 inch screen. Both of the mustang screens look small. Do you know what size they are? Btw whats with the goofy looking mustang light under the mirror? That novelty would last all of 5 mins then I would be looking for a way to turn it off?
Planning on getting the premium all the way
When the day comes and I can get a car, I think this is on the list of "Top Cars." I've been doing some looking around and the average generation age of a mustang is 9-10 years and the 5th Gen came out in 2015, so I'll be pretty good.
Inspiration _ wow you have your entire life planned out
hey its been 5 years did u end up buying a mustang bro!
I got the 2017 base pp triple black for 29k otd love it as my daily . got all the bells and whistles in my fx2 if we go on family trips.
I wish I could have had seen a video like this before i ordered my 2015 new... i still kick myself for being cheap and getting the base, still love the car though
You've answered all my questions I was just wondering what the premium and the basic half in it and you answered all my questions thank you very much appreciate the video I know the basic is going to be for me thanks again
i wonder if you get the base model can you upgrade it to the premium if you take it to ford
Thank you for making this video.
Does anyone know if all premium models come with those gauges at the middle of the dash? Or if it's certain trims?
A higher profit margin on the premium model?
I don’t know why people mention the destination charge, it’s just a dealer gimmick to make you pay more. I got not only two grand knocked off my premium gt, but they gave me three grand more for my trade and they didn’t even see my car till after the deal was done. Car buying is a game and you need to act like you have all the aces, which you do, even if you only have a pair of two’s.
Is the Mustang GT Deluxe the base model or a different model itself?
Thanks for the information. Trying to decide what to get....
That premium is not just a regular premium, it’s a performance package, 6 piston brembos, more gauges, strut bar, bigger sway bar and 3.55 gears so yeah that one has a performance advantage over the base
does the performance package come in automatic trans ?
@@alexispenaloza1790 not for the 15-17s only manuals and 18-19 do have the 10 speed available in the pp
What is the difference between the gt performance package and the California special package?
How about ecoboost vs ecoboost premium is it pretty much similar to these features?
Thoose Oil/Vacuum gauges is they only for US models? cant find any with thoose gauges in the dashboard..
This
ironbull2003 im picking up a racw yellow base gt (just like in the vid) with 11k miles for 26k.
Guy upgraded to black 19s, carbon fiber trimming and recaro seats.
You got screwed lol
I payed cash! i dont think so loser!
ironbull2003 if you paid cash then yes you REALLY got screwed lmao!!! I just bought a 2017 gt premium otd for 35k with 0 miles
Might as well purchase the Shelby GT350 version.
lol, good luck finding a new gt350 for under the 52k price range. premium u can get new, like he mentioned, after rebates around the 34k mark. that's a nice size different.
Louis Lewis You're right. I've found one dealer with 6 of them and they all are listed at $68-$74k. I kinda see it as a collectors item but after helping 2-kids through college it will be my first sports car.
very cool man. me personally id wait, the 2019 gt500 will be out in around 18 months. & that will be insane.
You are a cool dad!
hell, theres a cobra Shelby 2012 in a lot around my house and its $32,000 with 30kmiles .. planning on getting that one!
I bought my Premium GT 3 years ago based on this video. Thank you. Very worth the price.
Can't wait til you guys do this with the 2018s. Show us a GT convertible.
Travfdy waiting on the gt 550
What were the two gauges in the center of the dash that replaced the third air vent on the base model?
Joel Ground Those gauges come with the performance package.
oil pressure and vacuum gauge. (both basically pointless)
Yup.
Can you change the color of the speedometer in the premium? Thank you
ya know i’d love to have a driving mode and steering feel button. but honestly when am i ever gonna wanna be quite and not feel like i’m driving a race car?? that’s right, never😤
