Thanks, Garth. That's a pretty broad topic and so dependent on many factors. Outfit videos are a bit tough to shoot right now since Rob and I can't get together. Will put it in the hopper though.
Depends on the colour of the sport coat / blazer, but I have a charcoal sport coat I often wear for work, and I usually match it with darker coloured trousers or chinos, often black or dark blue, but brown or dark olive green would probably work too (yet to try).
Two things I appreciate in your videos. a.) You respect our time and keep your videos short with zero fluff. b.) You have a very inclusive (read not snobby or elitist) approach. This is great when you are trying to educate people. I have almost never had the chance to wear a suit. In fact, almost 100% of my adult life has been spent in cargo shorts - I work, work out, and play in them; sometimes I even sleep in them. I don’t see this changing moving forward. But despite my life’s circumstances (and consequently my sartorial choices), I find your videos about suits informative and enjoyable. Nice work. And thank you 🙏🏻

Nice and succinct explanations Brian! IIRC in Korea, most of the sales reps I ran in to used the term "jacket" and "blazer" for non-suit jackets interchangeably, with no problems to be had. Though knowing the differences and using the terms more correctly does help with recognizing who's interested in men's wear. Unrelated, those thighs on those men at 1:53 are quite impressive! - Han

Okay, so my question here is regarding Steve Harvey's video advice about owning i think it was 5 complete matching suits with 2 dress shirts that was white and cream color for each. What I don't understand is he is saying you could mixn'match all 5 suits and 4 dress shirts any way you want it and you cannot mess it up. I tried that before and i got negative comments back on the mismatch clothing. I don't remember what it was but it was too embrassing for me to not care for it. Nowadays i see blazers, sports coat, and suit jackets getting mismatched with all sorts of other clothing. To me, i am wondering how in the world are they managing that? Like it doesn't look professional enough. example just a business casual or a smart casual and it looks weird. As for the semi-formal mismatching that is where i am confused too. Is the advice that Steve Harvey gave regarding 5 suits and 4 different dress shirts making a combination of 75 total outfits, is that even viable? Like it isn't might even be the same brand, fabric and style but he is saying it all goes. I always though the principals of a complete suit MUST stay with its matching pants &/or vest. Any loud pattern is not that good for the suit jacket. Pinstripes is just enough. I think it should be a solid color of dark blue or charcoal. Black is too somber for the office.

I've generally considered the Blazer (blue with brass buttons) to be the most formal as I associate it with beige/grey slacks, white button up and a tie..... secret service or mothers day brunch if you will. You've made me re-consider since I've also worn with just jeans and not even a collared shirt. ha!

Funnily enough I noticed that his outfit is a decent business casual outfit. Lose the elbow patches and nail the fit and it’s something I’d be happy wearing.
The elbow patches only add to the outfit in my opinion. As for the fit, it's actually a decent fit for the 90s where everyone was obsessed with the baggy and supposed "power suit" and everything was 6 sizes too big. Even for today's standards the fit looks good, but Mr. Bean has the problem of always wearing his jacket unbuttoned which takes away from the silhouette of his outfit.

However Birdseye and Nailhead (also textured/lower sheen) seem like they would work as well, but more often seem to be recommended for a suit. Can nailhead/birdseye work for both a suit and a blazer ?

It looks like you cut your jacket lengths to first thumb knuckle or little shorter. May depend on a fabric but do you generally use the 'first thumb knuckle' rule for most of your jackets? how do you decide what length is appropriate for a jacket?? (e.g. blazer vs suit jacket).
My school's student organization had a "blazer" but im always confused on how to wear it cuz the length of the jacket only reach the belt loops so it looks too small even tho it supposed to look like that. Can anyone give me thoughts???

I have to say, I kinda like the beard. What‘s your grooming routine? If I may ask.
I don't really do anything special. Nice face wash. Exfoliate once a week. I generally shave with a safety razor. What else would you like to know?
