  • The CTA operates an extensive network of buses and a rapid transit elevated and subway system known as the 'L' (for "elevated"), with lines designated by colors. These rapid transit lines also serve both Midway and O'Hare Airports. The CTA's rail lines consist of the Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Brown, Purple, Pink, and Yellow lines. Both the Red and Blue lines offer 24‑hour service which makes Chicago one of a handful of cities around the world (and one of two in the United States, the other being New York City) to offer rail service 24 hours a day, every day of the year, within the city's limits. ~Wikipedia

Nice shots and viewpoints. I think you captured it very well. I recognized many of the stops. I even saw the building I live in at one of the stops!

It must be something to have an apartment next to an el train.

You get used to it. Seriously. And then when you move to quiet neighborhood away from the el tracks, it might take you about 3 months before you can get a sound night's sleep because you're so conditioned to sleeping thru the el noise.

Yet the CTA does run 2 car trains on both the Skokie Swift and the Evanston line when
it operates during off-peak hours between Linden/Wilmette and Howard Street,
      especially during the evening hours.

@@dangelohartley5977 If I'm not mistaken, though, all stations can support at least 4 car trains and the majority can support 8 car.
