Also between Camogli and Rapallo and within walking distance of each is Santa Margherita, a small pretty town on the sea with a picturesque walk bordering the harbor lined with cafes. And yes Camogli, a 25 minute car ride from Genoa, is tiny but boasting a pretty crescent harbor and a charming hotel offering stunning views from the dining room.
This is one of my favorite ares to visit. My father's family originally came from Genoa. I'm glad you warned people about the summer crowds. It's beauty has become better known than ever in the internet age.
That’s so cool you’re family is from Genoa. I couldn’t believe the crowds in august, I’d love to go back in the fall or spring. Do you have a favorite place in Liguria?
We used this video as a guide when we visited the Cinque Terre. It helped us narrow in on Manarola, where we spent the majority of our time. Thank you for a great video!
Your videos are amazing when I myself am not traveling! It really makes me want to go out there myself and experience these places. Also brings back the memories when I see the places that I've been at myself.
Incredible! Congrats Ryan for this impactful video! It attracts so much of my attention! Fully enjoying while watching it and listening the creative way of your storytelling & fact sharing, making me eager to be right in the places you visit, and this time in the amazing Italy. You have tremendous potential to became National Geographic contributor, and will be happy to see you thrive to achieve this 😊
Very amazing video! If I can give an advice, as a person that has a vacation home in this region, I personally recommend to visit also other beutiful places on the western part of the region like Sanremo, Alassio, Laigueglia and la Baia dei Saraceni. There are also a few of very characteristic italian Borghi like Finalborgo and Dolceacqua that I strongly recommend.
Italy's coast is simply beautiful and there are so many places to discover! Cinque Terre is truly a HOTSPOT! Thank you for this beautiful video with these amazing drone footage! Happy Easter from Switzerand 😃 ❣
Hi Ryan i have been checking many vlog about Italy me and my wife was planning to visit Italy Country Side this coming summer im glad i came acroos with your vlog. This helps me to get more ideas on this bucket list of us.
Ryan, your videos are just amazing !! You Deserve 10 millions subscriptions brother ! Now mention your 5 favorites countries and 5 favorites places please !!!! We will visit those ones !
I'm in love with this video :) I've visited Italy four times in my life; however, never this particular region. The first place I would visit is definitely Genoa since it's the most appealing to me.
Hey there! I just wanted to let you know that your video really inspired me. I'm excited to keep building my channel and sharing even more awesome travel experiences with my audience, just like you do. Your travel inspiration is really amazing and I hope to follow in your footsteps by visiting new places and sharing them with others. Thanks again for being such a great source of motivation! 🥰
@@RyanShirley I’m actually exploring quite a few places! I start off on the Amalfi Coast & make my way toward the Dolomites. I’ll also be visiting a few other locations as well on the way including, Tuscany, Lake Como, Venice, and a little Switzerland 😄
Such a dreamy destination to enjoy the beauty of Italy. Cinqui Terre looks very unique with colorful houses. Thank you for producing this awesome and enjoyable travel video! Btw, do you speak Italian?
Thanks so much! Hard to match the colors of the Cinque Terre. I don’t speak Italian, I kinda understand it because I know Spanish and they are similiar, but I’d love to learn it eventually 🇮🇹
@@RyanShirley - Oh we did a nice European tour, so for our Italy portion, we visited Rome, Tuscany and Pisa, Florence and Venice. We didn't have time to do the Cinque Terra, but that is on the list for next visit. Have you been to Venice since last we messaged? If not, I hope you get to do so soon. It is Spectacular.
Hi from Italy, I work as a tourist guide so I appreciate videos like this, thank you very much. I agree on your thoughts on Monterosso al Mare, it is a lovely town. Instead, I consider Portofino overrated.
@@RyanShirley I live in Tuscany and I work mostly in my region. Surely one of the most interesting thanks to a mix of beautiful landscapes, good food, good wine and history.
Nevermind National Geographic you're the much more visually pleasing Rick Steve's Europe. Have you ever spoken with him? I'm sure he would love your work. God bless
My favorite part about the Mediterranean Sea is the open blue skies and ocean how sunny it is there and things. Too bad there isn't much surfing there.
You can definitely drive to Cinque Terre. We did last year. You just can't drive right into town. You have to park up at the top of the hill and hike down.
Buongiorno a tutti! Il termine (riviera ) e’ stato coniato qui in liguria all’ inizio del ‘900 : riviera di levante (est)da nervi alla spezia ,a ponente (ovest) da arenzano a nizza citta’ natale di garibaldi ora francia
is this considered the amalfi coast? i’m trying to figure out the geography of italy lol i’ve only been to florence and rome. i want to go back and experience the coast along with venice, rome, florence, possibly milan.
The Amalfi Coast is more close to Naples in the south, while the Italian riviera is more in the north. Both are amazing, I think it’s the Amalfi Coast is one of my favorite places in Italy 🇮🇹
Nice video, just one suggestion: look up the pronunciation of places and common words like chiesa (pronounced with /k/, not /tch/, or Camogli (no /g/ sound in it, only soft /l/), before editing. It would make these beautiful videos even more enjoyable!
Beautiful video and very precise suggestions. I choose to live in the Riviera after retirement and I have a house on the Mount of Portofino, over Camogli. Portofino Peninsula is very popular and it's mostly a natural park. We have more than 50 miles of mountain trails, so it's a paradise for hickers (some trails are easy, but some of them are really hard: ask for information and bring trekking shoes and water). The villages of Camogli, San Fruttuoso di Camogli and Portofino are pretty crowded during weekends, holydays and in July and August. So my suggestion is to come visit our land in May, June or September. Weather is good, the water is warm and from Monday to Friday you wan't find too many people. We have few beaches. One of the best places to swimm is Punta Chiappa (Camogli). It's a long rock (no beach). It's easy to get there from Camogli by boat (10') or hicking (1h 30'). When the sea is calm you can easly get into the water and get back on the rock. The water is transparent, deep blue and full of fish. Bring a mask for snorkelling.
Hi, I'm contacting you from RTL Television to ask for your permission to use this video clip of Cinque Terre in our daily news show. We'd credit you of course :) Sincerely, Karla RTL
Well done, Ryan. I do hope that, in future videos, you'll put a little more effort into pronouncing Italian place names correctly. This would help some of my fellow Americans, who have an unfortunate reputation as (linguistically- and often geographically-challenged) provincials.
