I found that I did not have to go back in the video to find the outcome for the specific scent(s) I was intrigued by. It made it way more organized for my information reception. Giving points in 0.5 increments in 5 stars system is no different than giving single points in 10 stars system, its almost the same difference between a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 and a 6 or 7 out of 10. Just saying so cuz you said you simplified your grading system to be more solid on values yet you are almost between 3s and 3.5s :) I love your vibe, and your videos, Love from Greece!

I know with wicking every choice has a reason, im just hoping to better understand those reasons hahah.....id also love to know what diameter these jars are and what size area you are testing them in so i can get a sense of the strength of HT to the overall size of the room your in (ie if you in a bathroom or small office then i know they are really weak or maybe to strong for that small of space but if your in the living room or the basement then i know that maybe theyd work well in a slightly smaller space and that the strong ones are good at filling a room and shouldnt be used in a tight space like bathroom)

    Almost everywhere else I read everyone says use a max of 6% fragrance... I know it depends on the kind of wax, to a degree. What does an Overscented candle look and perform like? Seeping?

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The max on most waxes is definitely higher han 6%. Paraffin base waxes hover around 3-6% but those are uncommon these days as most are made with blends and additives. The majority of waxes these days hold anywhere up to 10%, many even more than that. I personally don't use higher load than thst as it introduces wicking issues and just becomes unnecessarily expensive. Lol
      Most places suggest starting with 6% because if using quality oils and a good scent throwing wax, 6% is often plenty. Plus you can incrementally add more to test if you want. But I'd say most use around 8-10^ these days

      Hey Katie. I make candles for several companies and different ones for other reasons as well. As someone who also likes to help other candle makers, I tend to use a variety of materials. So I use many. I just often test with problend600 because it's easy to use and it's pretty average across the board which makes it a good baseline for testing. • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@katiefrederick4136 If you are looking for a true 100% soy, then no not really. At least one I would feel confident in recommending. They just have so any issues and consistency problems. However, the majority of "soy" waxes arent just pure soy. most have a tiny amount of food grade paraffin or other additives for example. These perform much better. Soy 10 for example. Also Ceda Serica or EC-26 is good too

      @@katiefrederick4136 Well, let me clarify. I didn't mean there are NO 100% soys. The GW 464 that you mentioned, is a 100% soy. But its definitely has its drawbacks. So most use some sort of soy blend. Its entirely up to you. I will look into Sand and Fog. Never heard of it. They likely don't reveal their wax type, but I can check

      Yah different suppliers sell different sizes. I just used 730 as an example to start with. Wouldn't necessarily be the right size for every fragrance. 725 or 735 would work for most as well

    Excellent review! I DO like this format better! I'm curious, in your opinion, how does Wooodland Snow compare to Nordic Night? Thanks Wade!

      Similar. It's like a mix of Nordic night and alpine Balsam.
