      @@GarrettDunlapyoutub1 yes Taos is better than AF and RR by the fact that is better known and they get more snow but tbh AF and RR are really good as well. I go to AF and RR every year and personally prefer RR but both resorts are mainly beginner but if u r experienced then both of them are good for u as well. So I wouldn’t really say Taos is “better” but it’s all opinion.

    Great list - solid choices! All 5 on this list are within 2 hours of each other. I love how Angel Fire has a little bit of everything for everyone (especially when their hike-able/backcountry steeper terrain is accessible).

    I grew up riding these mountains and you definitely nailed the list. Taos didn't allow boards until 2008, but it's epic. I Hope you got to ride some of the out of bounds trails in SF? I worked a Sipapu, Ski SF and Pajarito in my early 20's, I miss those days!

    As a local in New mexico, here is my list.
    A lot of these resorts change drastically year to year due to mananfement being different because peoppr leavr every year.
    5: sippapu its a great resort but it does suffer from the lowest budget out of all resorts. Many years suffer badly due to lack of snkw or lack of employees. You luckef out by going when there was park staff usually thry dont have a park at all.
    4:santa fe. Santa fe is probably the most acessable resort which gives it the 4. But it lacks a soul imo. And for lots of locals that have taos for example soul matters a lot. Santa fe is a wannabe keystone.
    3: angel fire. Its a great beginner mtn and the only mtn to have a world class bike park. It does suffer from being inconsistent in terms of park features. Some years have a half pipe some barely have jumps.
    2: red river. The vibes is what makes this the second best. It def has the best park in the state and its consistant and it also opens first during thanksgiving weekend when other resorts open 2 weeks later.
    1: taos. Nothing really needs to be said about this place. It wins by default due to its location. It just has the best conditions. Most other resorts suffer due to lack of snow. Taos never lacks snow.

    I bought a condo at Angel Fire but I grew up going to Keystone/Breck since my parents had a house there. I have to say both Angel Fire and Taos are better resorts than Colorado resorts. The vibes are more chill, the parks are always on point and you don't get the massive crowds.
    For context we went back to Keystone earlier this month and it took us 1 hr. to park and another hour just to get from the village to the top on the chairlift. We did about 7 runs between 8 am and 3 pm because lines were so long. Both Breck and Keystone feel like Aspen more and more every year and are just full of out of towners and people from NYC.

      My dad grew up on Ski Apache and we used to take christmas trips to Ruidoso all the time when I was kid. I took my family there winter of 2020 and the mountain looked so sad. Outside of the "winterpark" tubing hills man made snow there was no snow anywhere.

    • @TestingTesting-tl7pz
      @TestingTesting-tl7pz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rdlangston13 It’s so sad. Since the fire in 2012 there is a lot less tree coverage on the mountain, so with the lack of shade the natural snow melts much faster now.

    Hey Johnathan, first off, your reviews are quite good. However you call them "Ski reviews" but you don't talk about the skiing aspect of the area. Your vids are for snowboarders, not skiers. You also spend a high percentage of your videos promoting your merch and you page. TH-camr's know how to do a like and a subscribe without your direction. Maybe re-title your posts as "snowboarding", I think you would get a lot more people returning and subscribing. Your typical clickers are skiers, but because you only address snowboarding and the associated skills terrain parks, skiers move on without a "like" or "subscribe". If you decide to add more ski content be sure to add a side note for people who are die hard ski fans, i.e. hard core ski and snowboard bums. Make that "side note" about locals in the know. Number one in NM is either Taos or Pajarito ski hill. Disclaimer, IF Pajarito has snow. High level skiers in NM will tell you that. Taos is the bomb, no doubt, but driving up, parking, shuttling to the lift, and lift lines are a pain in the butt! Pajarito gives your more hours of pure, no lines, medium to steep skiing than anywhere. Plus it's closer to Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Just my 2 cents worth.
