a man that killed bear in the past now becomes helping the bear know their boundaries are amazing. I don't know why, after all the hard work steve does for the bears, in their hibernating season, he talks to the bears knowing where their sleeping area are and this makes me emotional.
Steve shows a lot of passion and care to what he does. with a chill and relax calm voice he spread love and compassion even to the bears itself.

I would only hope that Steve gets to have a successor or someone to take his place once he gets too old to be able to work. He's such a wonderful person, it would be sad if nobody bothered to continue this type of service to the world.

Steve Searles is the most admirable person I’ve ever known of. He’s awesome at what he does, with love and compassion for the bears. He’s not being mean to them, just trying to teach them a lesson. It’s a shame humans don’t have enough sense to follow the rules and leave them alone. They are wild animals, not Winnie the Pooh or Yogi the Bear.
I admire Steve’s wife, she’s his biggest fan, the backbone of his career. Keep up the great work Steve, you’re greatly appreciated. God bless you.

I'm no Bear Master expert, just the opposite. But I see so many things that would help keep them out of town, away from Children, and grown fools.
Make a law that all trash has to be Bear proof. That's a huge preventative. Second, put steel mesh covers over large pipes. Put them on hinges so all it takes to clean them is a quick unlock, open, clean, close, lock. A few minutes once a month. That solves the bears in the pipes.

All we can do is to try and keep all things in balance the best that we can. The food chain of life is not too pretty to see as well as all survival rates for all species. We just can’t get rid of all people, besides, the food chain will go on and need to survive amongst the animals and plants. I would love to see thousands of wildlife managers like Steve around the world as the interactions between humans and bears increase as more and more people move into bear territories. People in these communities and also the tourists will hopefully be taught on a large scale basis to not feed the bears or see them as teddy bears because it's so dangerous... mainly for the bears, in so many ways. Keep up the great work, Steve. Bless you!

Thank you!!! It makes my heart glow to know you are out there. "Talking to animals" entails learning their social order, their "speech" and body language. Trust me it's easier than learning French. I'm familiar with horses, chickens, dogs, cats, and goats. I pick up the body language and speech; and learn their view of social order, and it's easy to interact with them after that. MUCH easier than dealing with humans. Glad the bears have you as a teacher/advocate. I can only hope there are people out there who bond with each of the other animals. I've known deer talkers as well. Blessed be; all of you who keep us in balance.

What is stopping Lake Mammoth of setting up a program where every 2 or 3 houses there’s someone who is trained and equipped to deliver less than lethal rounds to these bears? Why doesn’t Steve shoot them right off the bat with less than lethal? It seems like he’s found his balance, keeping them away sorta but still being light handed with them so they can come back and invade because any chance he can be around a bear is good for Steve, but not necessarily good for the bear? It seems like these bears should be immediately shot with beanbags and pepper sprayed, and stay on them like that until they really change their alll and also teach their cubs better habits. Chasing them around and yelling “you bad bear!” Most of the time is probably a game. Bears need to associate houses with being stinging pain(bean bags, stun grenades, pepper spray)….

These procedures are really effective we did this up in Montana and it's been used all over the world. We may like sitting outside with a bear kicking back feet away from them but it's not doing the beat anygood. The big thing is you never pin them in an area. And best to stay as far away as you can when they wakeup after a long winter hibernating. My grandmother fell and weged herself between two fallen trees because she had a body cast that covered her torso after her spine was fused from top to bottom. They were picking huckleberry. She kept saying youhoo calling grandad as the bear was catchingat her pants then it hit what it wanted the huckleberrys. Well it turned and ran towards grandad but he fired a shot but didn't scare it and he was forced to shoot and kill it. They were so sad that happened. They encountered many bear. In Yellowstone national park there's a one room cabin that they claim at the park is like 200 years old but my grandad built it and have the picks to prove it. My mother was born in that cabin. So if you ever go to Yellowstone and they say it's an old trappers cabin tell them their full of it! It was built in 1929.

It puts the bears and yourself in danger. There's no way i could do your job! 😵 I'm terrified of them! Please be safe and i pray that people that go to your town get your message loud and clear to pick up and dispose of their garbage properly or those beautiful animals could be shot and killed. Steve should go to the schools to educate children about the bears. Teach them how the best way to dispose trash & how they should leave sleeping bears alone for their safety & the bear's safety. Explain how if bears aren't left alone there's a chance they could be killed, the worst thing for bears is to get not be afraid of humans.
If he has access to a cub being raised by humans, that would be good for kids to fall in love & understand they want to do the best for all bears. 🐻😻😻🐻😷

as scared as I am of bears, why can’t they tranq the bear and relocate him far into the woods near a stream.

I do have empathy for large animals that need a lot of food everyday to stay fit.
It can’t be easy looking for your food.
Bears are cool but there’s a lot of them to worry about. They’re definitely not an endangered species.

Black bears & grizzly were once endangered species !! Not til long ago !! Black bears endangered status came off in 2016 ! Both are still threatened species !! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

Surely nowadays the town has recovered fully from Covid-19 ? Unless that was just an excuse.

Thank you for what you do but I think what burns me alive is like the cop said they were here first and if they behave like a wild animal does and with bears that is forage for food to store up for winter.

i think there are a few other places that need a full time bear/ wolf/ cougar guy as well. and the bears might not be so tame. Might need 2 guys.

food. I sincerely hope that something can be done. I'd be devastated to think that in this day and age that the only way to deal with these bears would be to put them to sleep. Is there a way to tranquilize them and relocate them? This man and group of people are doing an amazing job caring for them. God bless you all. 🐻

the way to deal with them is to have people not affraid of them or their habits helping them in and out of our intrusion on their habitats...ive had to tell trigger happy d.e.c. officers, " sorry bears already gone back to the swamp, i led them across the street 20 minutes ago..." it saddens me theres so many trigger happy rangers out there, but its a triumph to me knowing i had a mother bear and her three cubs 20' behind me following me camly out of town and back to safety after being cornered in town all day by the panic stricken cops and game officers...

I've been watching this on my TV and I love you and what your doing. I thank you from my heart but I can't finish this cuz I'm sure the f-ing cops kill Ace. This angers me cuz I feell the bears need protected from the humans NOT the other way around. Humans are taking their space cuz they feel intitled. This descusts me!

This BEAR whisperer should have his own 60 minutes segment so that more people know how BEARs should be treated vs. just killing them over fear of injury…Has @60minutes called you yet?

people building houses right in the middle of the bears property. And then they are 'scared' and the bears have to bugger off - people doing idiotic people stuff again - why do they have to live in the middle of the forest... I'm human as well and understand people live so they should just concentrate into cities and build up as high as possible to house them all and leave nature alone

PSA if a bear is still up in early winter. There is a good chance they are waiting for one last large meal before hibernating. Stay far away for your own safety regardless of how familiar you are with that bear/bears
