  • Hi everyone and welcome back to everyday with me, Nick.
So i bought a digital readout scale for the saw mill and OMG it has changed the way i mill on this thing now. I can quickly and accurately get to the depth of cut and get on with cutting instead of reading the terrible scale that comes with the Frontier mills.
I want to also give Andy Dudley a massive shout out and thank you. He has been very valuable and his service has been second to none. So if your in the UK go ahead to Global Recycling Solutions and get anything from them guys.

Hi Nick, thanks for this video. Because of it I bought one to install on my LM30. I'd like to know how you have been liking it? Mine arrives this week.

Hey Tim, thank you for watching my video 😄 ill be honest. I freaking love my DRO. I've ditched the scale that came with the mill and use the DRO solely. When using the DRO, you have to add kerf when coming down. So I generally add 1.5mm to the final measurement, so for a 100mm cut I'd go to 101.5mm on the scale and 90% it comes out at what I want it to. We've got to think that this is rough sawn at the end of the day 😄 but yeah fantastic piece of kit. Get one now !!!

Nice addition, I saw your previous post about having issues...did you ever get that resolved? I'm thinking about purchasing one too.

Heyyy 👋 thank you for commenting, erm yes and no. The council closed the case but I'm still getting some tension from some surrounding neighbours. I am wanting to move to a much better suited place for the future.
My honest opinion on that would be get one if you've got your own timber. It's timber for nothing then.
If like me you have to buy logs in then try and make something back by selling some timber on. But I'll be looking to upgrade the mill in the future to deal with wider logs. Get one !!!

But is the digital readout weatherproof? I’m often out in the rain all day sawing. I don’t think this thing is going to last. What do you think?

Hey buddy and welcome to the channel. Unfortunately these digital readouts are not weatherproof and do require a dry environment. I'm not sure about the official ones for woodmizer and Norwood etc. Unless there is a way you could house the bar and encoder in a weatherproof housing you would be laughing.
      Hope this helps bud 👍

Good stuff Nick. That mill is going to bring lots of extra $$$ to the business. I can see houses behind - will there be a problem generating noise while working?

Hey buddy, thanks for watching and commenting. I'm hoping it will bring in a little bit 😄 at least for it to pay for itself.
So regarding the houses, yes it's been in the forefront of my brain since I got this mill and that's why I'm building an enclosed shed around it ASAP. Hopefully this will reduce some noise and also line it with insulation or accoustic materials. Just to deaden the noise down. But I don't want my fellow neigbors getting angry with me. That's the plan anyways. I hope it works out.

good day Nick. where did you get the digital readout?

Hi Larry, firstly, welcome to the channel and thank you for commenting 😊
So I purchased the DRO from a company in the UK called Warco i believe. I'm having some issues with mine though as the readings keep jumping about in certain places so I think it's kind of faulty. I'm going to try something first to see if it sorts it.
Keep an eye out and see if I get it sorted 😄
