Great comparison! The Poulan sounds like it needs a carburetor adjustment, shouldn't bog down when giving it gas.

That series of Poulans are great saws. I have a bunch of them. Your fuel tank leak could be from the vent on the side, you have to dismantle it a fair amount to change it but it’s doable.

That 2255 worked well for me professionally with a 28in bar

I live how you have all different brands like Jonsereds and Poulans. You should try and get a dolmar in the mix.

I'm sure I'll get one or two at some point. I was recently at Home Depot, at the rental department., and they had some makitas for rent. I was not impressed by the feel of them. Especially the 5600 and 6100. Felt very heavy and bulky for their displacement. Ya know, maybe I'll rent them for a Wack-Off. That's a good idea!

Completely gut the muffler and dual port it. If you're able to delete the base gasket. You will thank me later. Mine runs a 24 inch bar through hardwood like a hot knife through butter

One novice mistake you made was the lack of wedge on the first cut. Your bucking belt should have a wedge holder and small ax. Helps with the stuck chain. I admire your thirst to cut wood. I'm not being disrespectful. Just trying to help

Should have cut 1/3 way from bottom up then down, saw wont pinch.

Looks like a solid saw! I'd like 2 see it up against a MS390, may upset some Stihl fans👍🆙BigGuy

Poulan is pronounced just like the country Poland without the "D". If you get that 330 RIGHT you will throw rocks at the Jonsered. Some of the last of Poulan's excellent saws that could compete with ANYONE in the industry. Took me several years but I finally acquired both the Bad Boy saws. Stay diligent and be prepared to reach deep into your pocket when the right one comes along.

I understand your displeasure, but...if they hadn't used the Poulan name to build a line of dirt cheap consumer saws, Poulan would have passed out of existence just like Pioneer, Partner, Lombard, etc, etc. At least Poulan is still around. Look at it that way. Sadly, my precious Jonsered is gone for good now. I doubt if it ever comes back.

@@novicelumberjack maybe or maybe not we will never really know. But it does seem all USA saw manufacturers were ultimately run into the ground in some form or fashion. If i were a millionaire id do my best to buy the poulan name and make something of them again.
