I really like this idea and video because in the end it makes a ‘seamless marriage’ between all three pieces: the bezel, backplate and wire as though they are all one… there are no gaps between the wire and the bezel… once again: WELL DONE YOU! WELL DONE! And thanks also again for sharing your valuable time and knowledge!!💕💕💕
Hi. Thanks for this video. Do you solder the wire closed first, or that and everything else all at once? If all at once, do you have to ensure there's a solder chip right at that junction? What level solder did you use? Thanks, Laura
How did you Measure and lay down the decorative wire (perfectly sized) when the bezel wasn’t soldered shut and formed? Loose and open….Any video that shows that? Also which paste flux do you use? Pepe tools?
still confused. You’re still soldering them shut together…. All at the same time. Do you mean you just heat it enough for the flux to hold it together and then put the wire around the bezel to solder it all together onto backplate? So confused! I would LOVE to skip the extra step and solder it all at the same time
@@Susanarylander If I understand your question correctly, I am not fusing the bezel and wire closed together. I fuse the bezel closed for an exact fit of my stone, then fit a wire around, trim and fuse shut. I then force the wire around the bezel for a very tight fit. Then, they both get soldered to the backsheet at the same time. Make sense?
@@Susanarylander We do usually fuse our bezels together because we use a fusible alloy. the concepts work the same if you were to solder instead of fuse. :)

You are very welcome! It looks very beautiful and clean. 🔥🔥🔥

We fused the wire closed first and then used 20k soft to solder everything down. :)

I use Handy Flux. I make the bezel first, fuse and shape it then fit a wire tightly around and fuse it shut separately. :)

@@JewelryArts I guess the fuse part confuses me. Fusing I thought was instead of soldering. I never fuse decorative wire ….

This is a revelation. This should also apply to Sterling then as well? You are only putting solder on the inside of the bezel yes?
Yes, I use this on gold and silver, it works the same. I normally only place solder inside the bezel. 😃
I thought gold wouldn’t need pickling. What would make gold dirty? Sorry, my ignorance is showing.
Gold alloys contain copper and it oxides when heated. 😃
